visually, this is a one-man project (aside from Robert Hranitzky's awesome titles/logo), got AMAZING people for everything sound related though
I made every 3d model from scratch, textures are mostly hand-painted, everything is keyframe-animated
mostly using Blender (with some addons & my own scripts), Substance Painter, Photoshop, Blackmagic Fusion/DaVinci & Embergen
with most of the shortfilm still being in rough previz phase, all teaser trailer shots were finalized early, within less than 4 weeks & will get some tweaks/improvements for the final release
for generating the laser FX I wrote a Blender addon & put it for free on Gumroad
lots of trickery in compositing for the smoke FX to keep render times low
the music was composed just for this teaser trailer specifically, by the extremely talented Luis Humanoide who did an exceptional job in very short time. Go check out his work!
saw some people assume the voices are AI. Nope! I wouldn't be comfortable with that.
That's Tyler Weston as the clones & AVeryDandyLad & I as the battle droids
all edited & mixed by my dear friend Jonas Hausotter, with some additional sound work by Kyberphonic
✨ Happy Star Wars Day Week everyone! (a bit late to posting this here 😅) ✨
Time to finally give you some updates on the Tukk Tales project and introduce one of its new characters:
Commander Faust of the Coruscant Guard.
More on him soon, but for now I'll let this animation speak for itself. 🫡👀
But why new characters? And where's the short film??
First of all I'm sorry I haven't been great with keeping you all updated in the past! Juggling the project with my freelance work and private life hasn't been easy and I wanted to wait until things have developed further until I make any new announcements, but here's basically what happened:
After the announcement teaser trailer in 2023 completely blew up and I got to see how much love and support there already is for Tukk, his company and the project, I got motivated to push both my storytelling skills and the film itself a lot further, going back and rewriting the whole thing to let us spend more time with these characters and tell a more impactful and memorable story.
Instead of a little one-off 6 minute short (which at the time was still mostly in rough previz stage), it evolved into something closer to a full Clone Wars episode, which I've eventually decided to separate into three mini-episodes, inspired by the beautiful "Tales of" shows from Lucasfilm.
With that expansion also came the need for a lot more characters, designs and assets. And since I'm making all of those from scratch, with hand-painted textures, animator-friendly rigs and screen-accurate details that have to hold up in all kinds of close-ups, I've spent a LOT of time on that part of the process while simultaneously setting up some of the previz animations for the new story.
But an end of that step is in sight and once it is complete, updates will become way more frequent as I'm much faster when it comes to bringing shots from previz to a final stage.
I still can't give a release date yet as it's a no-budget personal project that is happening between client jobs, but it's still going full steam ahead and I'm extremely excited about the new direction it has taken on a while ago.
I'll also be looking for other character animators to bring onto the project later on and help out with some shots, so if you're interested in volunteering, feel free to send me your reel (mail address in my linktree)!
That's it for now, more character reveals soon (and no, they won't all be clones 🗡️🥸)!

It was an honor to contribute this piece to the @theclonewarszine charity fan zine alongside so many incredible artists and their stunning work!
Had a blast creating it, building new 3D assets for Rex, the 501st and 332nd clones, modeling (half) a gunship, designing custom painting tools for the clones to use, and more...
Huge thanks to the amazing @theclonewarszine team, every artist who contributed, and everyone who supported this wonderful project. May the Force be with you all! ✨

Turntable animation of my AT-RT asset in 241st / Hill Company colors. 🪶🩵
Had some extra fun with this one and added a small battle scene with sound fx to it. Enjoy! 😁
Thanks to @dandelionvoices for the clone voice lines!
Fun fact: The music in this animation is a piece I composed about 10 years ago. Most of my old music stuff wasn’t exactly great, but this one fit the walker’s marching rhythm a little too well—so hey, why not. 😄
I'm not the best customizer, I'm not the best photographer, and I'm basically not the best. But I really like the animatics of High Ground Animations aka Jan.
I'm really looking forward to the episode! And since Jan recently published a new character, I made him and added him to my group of custom characters that I want to share with the world!
Now I have the whole gang. Stretcher, Moss, Roy, Tukk, Crash, and an ordinary fighter. I wonder if there will be more characters... I also took the liberty to make two types of heavy fighters (I hope Jan won't be offended...).
Lil' preview snippet of my piece for @theclonewarszine! 👀👀👀
Was a ton of fun to create and to work with canon clones for once! (Between you and me… I kinda expected all that fame to have gone to their heads over the years, but fortunately I can say they were all great to work with and very down to earth Coruscant. Phew! 😋)
Highly recommend checking out the zine and consider pre-ordering, it's full to the brim with incredible art by tremendously talented people! 😍
Met a ton of lovely people at conventions and attended FMX Conference or the first time (eternal thanks to Robert Hranitzky), what a blast!
Got to wear some amazing new cosplays crafted by @sekuteskacosplay 💙
And yes, also made progress on Tukk Tales...
...although not as much as I had hoped. Finding the spare time to work on such an elaborate no-budget personal project can be tricky...
BUT! I'm as committed and motivated as ever and 2025 is the year I want to take some bolder steps to allow myself to focus more on Tukk Tales, even if it means scaling back on freelance work.
I'm in the middle of making some exciting plans and can't wait to share updates with you soon! 😁
Thank you so so much for sticking with me and supporting my project despite the quietness (and me kinda sucking at social media lol)!
It'll be worth the wait! ❤️
🎉🥳🌟 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉🥳🌟
(And a special thanks to Luis Humanoide for his incredible Tukk Tales music used in this clip)
