There are different ways to say “I” in Japanese, each having their own little nuances. However, it’s often lost in translation, since English only uses one “I”.
This is a problem for various terms, and some translators try to compensate for it, which is what I think Genocide Jack’s odd talent name is a result of.
Her talent is 殺人鬼 (satsujinki), which means murderer. 殺人者 (satsujinsha) and 殺人犯 (satsujinhan) also mean murderer, the same way 私 (watashi) means “I”, but so do 俺 (ore) and 僕 (boku).
The last kanji used in Genocide Jack’s talent means oni or demon. While the term 殺人鬼 does mean murderer, there is a more to it. This is a murderer who is like a demon. They kill without a care, and are ruthless and cruel. They enjoy the act of killing, rather than being motivated by money or revenge.
That’s why I think Genocide Jack was given the title “Murderous Fiend”. Calling her a murderer would not be inaccurate, but it doesn’t have that nuance of her Japanese title. Referring to her as a murderous fiend keeps the idea of a murderer, while also still connecting her to the imagery of a ruthless and cruel monster.
Thinking about it like this, I’ve come to like her English talent’s name, even if it still sounds a bit weird.

"Identity Not Found" 💙♥️ Happy 4 Year Anniversary to me drawing my version of Kage!!
I know it's been a small tradition for me to do a fully blue drawing since it's his main color but red is also kind of important so I tried mixing the two. It would've been more of a split screen but I didn't like it so red text it is.
A little Kage HC blurb: One of his greatest fears is not knowing who he is. His identity was first marked for him when he was shunned as a child for liking DR, even being nicknamed "Creephara" by his classmates because of it. It wasn't until he got into a violent altercation with a student that his reputation was completely ruined to the point his own parents disowned him, pretending that he never existed to prevent his reputation from ruining theirs. Ever since, this event was all anyone knew about him. Not his childhood acting, not his kindness and interests, nothing else. Everyone saw him as this violent, problem child who was just waiting to set off, and he let them believe it, acting scary and intimidating to prevent them from even trying to bully him. However, he started believing it himself. He couldn't distinguish between the person he is and the person that others knew him as which made him start to believe that he really was what others saw him as.
and not to mention the fact that he SUCKS
forgot his birthday im such a fake fan
