We went on a mini road trip to Jackson earlier this week and I had too much fun taking photos of my brother smoking out of his vaporizer! This is my first attempt at a gif!! We were sitting outside Grand River Brewery which had amazing beer! Especially the bourbon barrel aged ipa!
Last week we went up north for a few days. We spent the first afternoon playing in Traverse City. We started at Right Brain Brewing for waffle sandwiches and Spicy Thai Peanut beer(one of my favorites), afterwards we walked over to the beach to kill time waiting for Brewery Ferment to open. We tried a Passion & Pain beer along side the Cafe L'Orange, both excellent and unique. We finished there and drove up to the tip of Old Mission, stopping along the way for a glass of peach sangria at 2 Lads and their delicious fancy cheese plate. From there, we went up to the Lighthouse and the surrounding trials where we hiked about 3 miles in light rain. Our reservations for the night were at an Airbnb in Bellaire so we stopped at Short's Brewing Co for a late night dinner and flight before checking in.
DIYpsi was a blast this past weekend! As far as I know, it was one of the best turn outs for the event! With over 60 vendors, live local music-including a Mysty Lynn tribute Saturday night and pop up ice cream with flavors like banana creme brûlée!
I didn’t get to leave my table much(sorry for lack of photos and had to borrow one of my friends for the sign), but I didn’t manage to score new Tower art, restock my lotion, a custom painting of our pup and coffee my new favorite roaster!
To me, DIYpsi is Ypsi. It’s people in the community coming together, supporting each other, it’s local art, local music, it’s a place to make new friends, and it helps that there is beer!
Summer Beer Fest at Frog Island 2015 First let me say, I am never early for anything. Something in my genetic make up prevents me from showing up for anything before I am expected to be there! However, if there is limited beer selections, it turns out I can make I can do it! We made our pretzel necklaces and walked to the park about an hour and a half early. We ate a pizza from Aubrees and read over the beer list while we waited for the line to form. By 4:45, hundreds of people filled the park and spilled over the bridge! At 5 o'clock we made the mad dash inside! Honestly, I don't remember the first beer we tried! After the first hour the whole evening blurs together. Compared to last year, we had a plan. We were prepared. We wasted no time getting food and skipped breweries that had long lines. (I was lucky and made it to Wurst bar the night before for some pregame of CBS and KBS). I stuck to trying bourbon barrel aged and sours. It was a great night, the weather was perfect and the beer was fantastic! Just like last year we ended up at an after party. All in all, a perfect Michigan summer night in my favorite little town of Ypsilanti.

Last weekend the husband and I got up in the rainy cold and did The Color Run! We had a blast and stopped by Hyperion for coffee to warm up then over to Corner for half off our drinks! This was my first ever 5k and I felt proud of myself since I suffer from arthritis in my ankle!
This past weekend I was down in Orlando with my best friend, Kay and her dad, Gary, for Disney's Princess Half Marathon. Kay was running, Gary and I tagged along to be her chEAR squad! I should also mention that Kay is 5 months pregnant and had signed up for the race long before she found out!
I have never been to a marathon before, so this was a whole new experience. Disney makes an entire weekend out of it. On Saturday we checked out the Expo over at Disney's ESPN Center. I was happy to try some beer from a Miami brewery served in a souvenir cup! The race began Sunday at 6am so we were up at 4am(which required me to drink 2 cups of coffee) to catch the bus and monorail to get over to Magic Kingdom. There were many viewing locations, but Main St, USA is one of my favorite places in the world. The castle was lit up and we enjoyed Disney music all through the race. Over 25,000 people participated in the race, with at least 10,000 spectators. The majority of people racing dressed as Disney characters or were Disney Bounding. We had the best spot to watch the runners because we were right in front of the castle and a lot of people stopped running to take a selfie or ask someone in the crowd to take their photo!
Kay took it easy during the race and finished in 3 hours 25 minutes. She admitted to walking most of it but running when there were crowds! She made stops for water and character meet and greets! For those of you concerned, she did talk to her doctor about the race and was given an OK! I am super proud of her for doing this,even more for running with two!
It was a fantastic weekend and Kay talked me in to doing the 10k next year! Who should I dress up as...?
Fat Tuesday is one of my favorite days of the year because it's PACZKI DAY!! I lived in Florida for 8 years and missed them like crazy! We went over to Zingerman's Bakehouse and then the coffee house for chocolate, raspberry and ricotta filled paczkis paired with aero pressed coffee! For dinner Ben made a vegan jambalaya with the tofurkey andoulie cajun-style sausage and it was delicious! We put on some purple, green and gold and went up to Corner Brew to try their cajun inspired beer, NOLA YOLO, a fruity beer inspired by Pat O's Hurricanes! We enjoyed our beer while listening to some jazz! If only we had New Orlean's weather here!

We normally try to make the day about spending quality time together. Our first Valentine's Day we converted Ben's studio apartment in to a giant blanket fort where we watched Community and did puzzles. A few years ago we did breakfast for dinner and I surprised Ben with all kinds of Adventure Time paraphernalia and decorated balloons and cupcakes with character's faces! This year we wanted to cook something we always say we want to make but never do-our dream vegetarian pizza!
We started the day off with homemade Belgium waffles and heart shaped coffee cake(all made by moi of course). We sipped mimosas then got dressed to head out to Detroit. We saw a matinee showing of Once. I love the movie so I was very excited to see the play. It was a perfect, romantic outing for V-day. Afterwards we went over to Astro for some espresso, which was a perfect winter warmer! We headed home to make our special pizza...jalapenos, pineapple, sliced garlic, sweet onion and veggie sausage! (It's hard to tell, but I did cut the pineapple chunks into hearts). For dessert, chocolate covered strawberries and our favorite episodes of Parks and Rec.

I was hoping to do a Christmas post but things have been crazy! Happy New Year! We enjoyed a lovely dinner and fancy cocktails at Ravens Club. This is our fourth NYE together but our first physically together as we have been in separate states or affected by illnesses for the previous three! Be safe tonight!
Despite being grossly sick, DIYpsi was a huge success for me! Everyone loved my brick dick plush! I heard one will be making it’s home on the bar at Wurst! I sold out of almost all my inventory! I can’t believe I pulled all this together in 6 weeks! It was hard work but so much fun!!

Hey friends! Sorry I have been MIA lately, there has been a lot going on! Currently I have been using all my friend time to get ready for DIYpsi this weekend! If you haven't gone before, it's an awesome craft fair held twice a year, usually at Corner Brewery. This year they were booked so it's going to be at the Riverside Arts Center downtown! There will be beer, snacks and amazing vendors, including me! This is my first year in the show, normally I volunteer, so I have been crafting like crazy! Come out and say hello!

Been slacking on my posts but not on adventuring! This fall we have hit several corn mazes, cider mills, went to pumpkin carving parties and wandered several parks! It has been a beautiful season so far!
Day 3 of our summer vacation started in Mackinaw City. My friend is working for the summer at the light house so we took her tour before crossing the bridge. I need to add, it was my first time visiting the Upper Peninsula! Our first destination in the UP was Tahquamenon Falls, with a stop along the way at a beach in Paradise, a tiny coastal town. We went to the Upper and Lower Falls and enjoyed lunch and beer at the Tahquamenon Brewery, which is actually inside the state park! From there we went over to Munising to board a 3 hour evening cruise along the Pictured Rocks. We did the extended cruise which went 39 miles which included a stop at Spray Falls. The ride was breath taking. I would love to come back and camp and hike along the bluffs. After the boat ride, we drove to Marquette for the night, stopping at random beach along the way to watch the sunset. Overall, it was a very romantic day!
For our second day of vacation we took the boat over to Mackinac Island. It was my first time there so I was very excited!
We had a picnic lunch on the grass under the fort, attempted to ride a tandem bicycle then settled on our own bikes, enjoyed some chocolate peanut butter fudge, waded in the water, toured the Grand Hotel, had a drink at the Cupola Bar which is at the top of the hotel, we walked the two hundred plus steps up to Arch Rock, ate dinner on the porch at Mission Point, browsed the gift shops then caught the boat ride back to the city in time to watch the sunset over the bridge! It was an amazing day.
