I always felt like it’s a widely known fact that Godric had chemistry with everyone. That he was a flirt, very charismatic and approachable but at an early age just noticed everyone liked him.
And in my mind Godric immediately flirted with Rowena. Couldn’t keep his eyes off her despite how much it pissed her off. Flirted at her—not with her situation. Just too eager, too corny, too annoying. Rowena couldn’t stand Godric at first, and could barely be in a room with him without wanting to blast sense into him with her wand. Till Godric got to know Rowena and recognized her for the brilliant witch she is.
And Salazar? Who couldn’t help but instantly take to the bold, chivalrous, charming knight? Salazar struggled to accept his feelings for Godric everyday they’ve known each other. Till their relationship went from friends, to colleagues, to rivals, to absolute enemies. Godric’s and Salazar’s relationship deteriorated, while Rowena’s and Godric’s relationship only grew stronger with mutual respect and over (a very long time) into family like affection.
Out of all the founders Helga and Godric became instant friends. Godric adored Helga just as much as he respected her because he was her friend from the moment he set eyes on her. He was immediately impressed with Helga’s loyalty and her determination to fight for what’s right more than any warrior.
They had similar teaching styles, had different work ethics that complemented the other, both loved the other’s sense of humor, and with every year the two got along the most with each year.
While Helga never took Godric seriously as a flirt, and he always thought of her as his most trusted colleague out of the four, one day something changed. Godric just saw Helga different one morning and never was able to stop. Maybe it was a small smile, or the sound of her laugh or the way she stood up to Salazar about allowing Muggle Born to be students, but Godric from that day forward never saw Helga as just his friend again. He wondered how he never noticed Helga was SO….
And he couldn’t just flirt with Helga. No. Absolutely not. If he tried something stupid she would react worst than Rowena ever did. His usual moves were useless, he couldn’t ask for Helga’s favor or take her for a horse ride among the grounds or win a duel in her name, Helga would find all of that too much and insincere if not completely idiotic. She would think he was gravely ill and wouldn’t let him out of the infirmary till he was behaving normally.
But after a year of bashfulness Godric won her over.
And I always thought… that just maybe Helga and him had children together, that the Hufflepuff/Smith line is actually a merge of both Gryffindor and Hufflepuff
