Does anyone else feel a little bit like they’ve had a rug suddenly pulled out from beneath their feet? Ollie’s just... gone? He barely said goodbye to anyone, there was no little celebration or send off, he just... went. And Essie? God, Sacha looked gutted, and rightly so. Never been a huge Essie lover but to see her leaving cause of guilt over the trial? Seriously hope that isn’t the last of her. They’ve had almost an entire turnover in their characters recently and I’m not at all happy about it, I hope we see some familiar faces back for good since I just don’t see how a whole revamp is gonna work quite frankly. That confrontation with Hanssen and Fletch... if Ollie’s gone then I wonder if it’ll ever go past the three guys- would Hanssen admit to that, would Fletch just drop him in it? Both seem unlikely to me. I do hope Hanssen comes forward though because that’s totally unacceptable, as hard as it has been for him recently. Gaskell continues to creep the fuck out of me, I don’t even know what’s going on there any more but I absolutely don’t like it.

One final thought- isn’t Zosia due back soon? I totally thought they’d have a storyline with her returning to Oliver and the challenges his injury would pose to their relationship since the timings seem to match up almost perfectly; if my calculations are correct, it’s been six months since we said goodbye to her. Don’t know what would be more gutting- seeing her return without Ollie being there or not having her back at all.

So here’s next week’s cast list and, as I’m sure you’ll all notice immediately, Robyn isn’t on it. For me this is pretty concrete proof she dies, because in what other scenario would she be absent for the entire episode? The episode summary on the beeb’s website is “Glen faces a heartbreaking decision on what should have been the happiest day of his life.” Perhaps it’s the decision of what to do with Charlotte since he himself obviously doesn’t have long left, or it could be a decision about treatment or life support for Robyn? Though if it was the latter you’d think she’d at least feature in the episode, albeit possibly unconscious. What does everyone think?

Petition for Ollie and Sheilagh to have their own spinoff show in which they cause general chaos in the hospital whilst getting up to seemingly harmless night time shenanigans and an assortment of humorous scrapes. The staff are constantly on edge as they wait for them to burst into any scrub room they fancy, every conversation is full of tangible sass, and you can always tell where they’ve been because the vending machines are void of freddos. Ollie is always in his jammies and Lofty makes much loved guest appearances.

I’ll admit our representation isn’t perfect, and we’ve got a hell of a long way to go, but guys- look how far we’ve come.

- A black woman at the height of her speciality

- So many examples of people of different races being in relationships

- A Jewish man who lost touch with his faith only to rediscover it later

- An man with Aspergers who has employment and is independent

- A same sex abusive relationship

- A middle aged lesbian couple

- Intersex and trans patients having their rights fought for and respected

- Several characters with anxiety and depression

- Doctors, nurses and patients of all different sexualities, ethnicities and races

- Women who are tough and ruthless and men who cry and get hurt

- A man with early onset dementia

- A highly skilled doctor with bipolar

- A nurse who’s trying to figure out his bisexual tendencies

- A single Dad of four children

We are breaking stereotypes and representing minorities and I’m so proud of our little family. It makes my heart so happy thinking of all these people who are LGBTQ+, POC or otherwise diverse seeing these characters on TV and being able to say “hey, look at that, they’re like me”.
