Ok I’ve never done this before but I wanna start a thread! :)

I have ADHD and that usually come with stims (ex: flapping hands, bouncing legs) and sensory issues (ex: not liking tight cloths, aversion to certain sounds) so I wanted to list mine and have people with ADHD (and/or Autism!) reblog with theirs (feel free to ramble and/or tell stories!)

Stims: 

my most common one is bouncing my legs or twitching my feet because they are quiet and don’t distract people (most of the time) so I can do it during class. (I guess it doesn’t really matter anymore cause everything is online now lol)

hand snapping is another one, I do it most when I’m walking or thinking.

I can wiggle my left ear up and down so I do that a lot.

I used to have a lot of facial stims that I eventually stopped doing (except for the ear one^^) because they would weird people out and I did them a LOT, I used to pop my jaw and roll my eyes really wide (usually when I was talking but on my own too). but I don’t really do them anymore.

And obviously fiddling with anything I can get my hands on :D

Sensory Things:

I have a general aversion to tight clothing especially if it’s tight around my shoulders, ankles, or wrists.

I don’t really know how to explain this one but I secretly hate when people rub me in the same spot for longer than a few seconds. For example when people hold my hand and rub their thumb over the top of my hand, or rubbing my back or thigh. I guess the funny thing is that usually these actions are usually used to comfort someone but it has the opposite affect on me and I immediately want to pull away cause it makes my skin uncomfortable and tingly and it’s all I can think about until they stop. 

I am a meticulous person when it comes to certain things, like my blanket always has to be tucked in, my stuffed animals have to be in the right place, my underwear folded a specific way (I don’t know if this counts but this is my thread and I can do what I want)

I can’t sleep if there is a fold in my mattress cover under me or I’m lying on top of a wrinkle in my clothing and I always have to smooth it out, a lot of times I can ignore it but if I can feel it it will bother me, I also don’t like it if my sleeves get bunched up

I really, really don’t like the sound of teeth scraping against forks or spoons, ugh.

On a positive note for some reason I like the smell of dryers a lot, walking past a laundromat is always fun.

ooh ooh imma do this!!!! okie so stims!!! lots of my stims involve putting things in or near my mouth, like biting/sucking on my fingers, chewlery, tapping my lips, running my tounge over the roof of my mouth/back teeth, and rubbing soft things against my lips!! oo also rubbing my bottom lip. i also snap my fingers a lot and mess with my fingers. if im listening to music ill bop my fingers around to the beat. i flap my hands a lot and gently shake them a lot as well. i also tap my feet and bounce my legs. ill also tap my fingers against stuff and pat my plushies heads like bongos! also verbal stims!!!!!! i click my tounge a lot and also babble! i repeat phrases or words a lot as well, some of my faves are ehbupbupbupbup (like julien solomita!), bonk, and schloop! sensory stuff!!! i love soft textures, fuzzy things specifically! smooth textures are also fun, especially if they're cold as well. i dont like gritty textures tho, or what i call "wet crunch" aka stuff like peppers. i absolutely hate tight clothing!!! most of the time i cant even wear clothes that fit me. shirts i often get a few sizes bigger, though i can sometimes wear more fitting shirts as long as the neckline is low. im fine with skinny jeans as long as they're denim and i fucking hate leggings so much. i dont really have problems with tags on clothing as long as they arent itchy. i hate strong artificial scents and i also hate the scent of lard for some reason. meat has terrible textures most the time and cooking vegetables ruins the textures. also for some reason i hate the feeling of fans??? like i love the the feeling of wind but fans suck. i also hate loud noises and high pitched noises. also overlapping noises and eating noises.

MOOMIN EAR DEFENDERS

my moomin ear defenders came in!!!! they're pretty good at blocking out sound, and despite looking small they fit on my head pretty well!!! i cant rest them around my neck which is a bit disappointing but its aight! 10/10 would recommend

So I was looking at Biden’s plans to help people with disabilities. Here’s some stuff he wants to do that would make a big, measurable difference:

- Increasing SSI benefits to at least 100% of the Federal Poverty Line (at the moment, this would be an increase of about $3000/year. That would be REALLY HELPFUL.)

- Increase the asset limits for SSI and SSDI - which haven’t been increased in more than 35 years. Right now if you have more than $2000 at any time, you lose your benefits.

- Marriage equality for disabled people! - For people on SSI be able to get married without losing our benefits! (As it stands right now, you can lose your benefits even if they suspect you’re ACTING like you’re married - the “holding out as married” rule.)

I’m about out of spoons tonight, but go read it! If even SOME of it gets passed, it could be really good!

This is in contrast to the Republican position, which is *checks notes* “If they’re going to die, they’d better do it, and decrease the surplus population”.

(Seriously, if Trump gets re-elected, I, and many other disabled people, will be so entirely fucked. He wants to destroy Social Security, I would be homeless and starving in the streets.)
