coluberfoxii:
“better safe than sorry, that’s how the saying goes.” he keeps circling, until he no longer has to raise his voice in order to be heard, once the other looks back- he could see snake finally coming out of the dark, into whatever the lights could keep somewhat clear.
“..hmn.” once the man starts talking of keeping his distance, some of snakes worries dissipate with the wind- maybe this isn’t someone dangerous- despite the entire look “i never said this was my roof. just that i hang around ‘em”
“name’s snake. where are you from, majima? no offense, but you’ve got the look of a sort of crook”
“Haw?” Majima appeared to be offended, but inside he actually wasn’t. He knew he probably looked suspicious, but for someone to call him out like that... well, it was someting. “’Ere I am, obeyin’ the damn laws and ya jus’ say I’m lookin’ like a crook.” Majima clicked his tongue at that before exhaling and watching the smoke in the air. What were the laws anyway? Eh, whatever, he stuck to what made sense... mostly.
“Kamurocho.” he muttered out, “Japan.” He turned his head to take a good look at Snake, squinting a bit. “So where does a man who calls himself ‘Snake’ come from? Obviously a code name, must mean ya got a lot of secrets.” He didn’t say it in a manner of confrontation, simply in way that was genuinely interested. Of course he wasn’t going to pry though, everyone had their secrets.
“Can’t say ya look like a crook though...”
okay.
Well this is awkward.

❀ Winter had already arrived in this city, but that wasn’t what sent chills down her spine. Even through her pea coat and scarf, Makoto felt cold. She’d lost her family again, hadn’t she? After the Empty Lot incident, after her marriage, Makoto had thought that she could put all of that behind her. And then she found herself here. The city had welcomed her, and Sotenbori - even her and her family’s destination - had left her behind. A few snowflakes fell, and she lifted a hand, watching the frozen petals melt on her palm red from cold.
Suddenly, without any warning, she missed Lee. Kiryu. Her brother. Nishikiyama. Even Sera, after the kindness he’d shown her. But more than any of them, she missed him. He’d shown up out of nowhere to be the light to guide her through the dark once before, so it was selfish to think he’d do it again. He probably wasn’t even here. Makoto would just… be alone again. In the cold, and in the dark.
As those thoughts crawled into the forefront of her mind, the time on her wristwatch hit 7, and a gentle song started playing. Her gaze shifted to that watch, from the spinning gears to the band itself, he’d taken something precious to her and made it even more precious. Her reminder that she would never be alone as long as she had that watch. Makoto held it close to her heart, closing her eyes to better appreciate the tune as it soothed her fears. And as soon as it was over, she turned sharply on her heel and began walking. Eager to face the rest of her day with gumption and purpose.
Only, instead, she simply bumped into someone.
「 I’m so sorry! Are you alright? I wasn’t watching where I was going! Aah、 I hope I didn’t hu…r…t… 」Her words trailed off as soon as she looked up into his eyes. Eye. 「It’s you… it is you、 isn’t it?」She wasn’t just going crazy and imagining him, was she?「I didn’t know if I’d ever get to see you again、 even after you did so much for me.」
Perhaps he should get a bigger coat or at least cover himself up more. Although he had nothing to prove in this place, he was still too stubborn to change anything. If he had to be a little chilly from the weather then so be it. It wasn’t too bad yet. Maybe if it snowed then he’d actually layer up a bit. As one shiver passed through him, he had closed his eye for a second and almost lost balance when he bumped into someone. Initially he figured it was his own fault and he felt bad when he heard a woman’s voice, but it didn’t take him long to recognize it. Not only that, but the music playing from her watch. He instantly knew before even looking at her.
“Uh...” Well nothing he could do would stop the awkwardness, as well as the feeling that something fell into his gut. “It... It was nothin’ really, jus’...” Ouch, he felt like he was just stabbed in the chest or something, but he wasn’t going to let that show. After all, Makoto was married and stuff and after Majima had his own issues with his previous marriage he felt he would just give up and live life without having anyone get hurt because of his lifestyle.
“Yer not hurt ‘cause of me, are ya?” Not that he was a big guy, but he had to ask. On top of that he was still trying to gather himself mentally. “When did ya get ‘ere? If it’d been a long time ago then I’d...” Majima wasn’t sure what he would’ve done honestly. He’d feel bad that he couldn’t help, but also him keeping his distance was one of the main reasons he would never go to Osaka except work purposes. Luckily his job and reputation wasn’t a thing anymore where they were, but he couldn’t help that feeling that she’d still be unsafe around him... yet also didn’t want her getting to a mess with some assholes. It was complicated.

Over the last several years birthdays had become quite a funny reminder for the Boss that he was, miraculously, somehow still alive. All of this can be pinpointed back to that infamous yacht explosion that threw him into a five year coma. For whatever reason there may be, divine intervention, sheer luck or god knows what else, he was allowed to live and continue living through every ridiculous scenario thrown at him. Anyone else would have died on that yacht, and if they didn’t they would have died from any of the other ten million things that are constantly thrown at this man.
But hey, he could reminisce about this stuff later.
Here we find the Boss lounging around at a local café, sitting out in the patio with a large cup of coffee and a half-eaten plate of french toast. Today is the ninth of December, his birthday, and he’s decided to essentially take it easy and treat himself. Not like there was any point in throwing a party or going out with anyone as he’s been keeping most people at an arm’s length. It’s for the best, or so he tells himself. No matter, thinking about others right now wasn’t going to get him the relaxation he wants. All the Boss will do now is let himself get lost in the music coming from his music player and lower those sunglasses so the sun doesn’t hit those beautiful blue eyes.
“ ………………….. ”
@honnari· // Birthday Starter Call
Nothing had really been on his mind aside from getting more cigarettes and pretty much stomping around because of not really being the type to sit around and do nothing for more than an hour, unless it was sleep. Maybe he should get more of that actually, but then he’d feel lazy and it’s not like he actually had to be well rested for anything. Whatever, the smell of food and various caffeinated drinks had made him swear his stomach reacted as if he were a starving mutt. He glanced over at the source a few times as he walked around it till he saw a familiar figure.
Majima wasn’t sure if he was completely correct... or even wanted around, but he had to do something. When he walked to the cafe he quietly waved off needing anything from staff who asked if he needed anything. He pulled himself a seat right next to the Boss whether he'd like it or not and sat down. Majima leaned forward with a punchable grin, slapping the other man’s thigh quite hard rather than his own.
“Ya don’t even invite me. I’m hurtin’ ‘ere.” There was a poor attempt to seem pitiful, but that stupid smile kept trying to come back. He unfortunately couldn’t help himself around certain types, but at least he wasn’t trying to swing a bat. In fact he didn’t have the bat with him at all.
fcxrcin:
“AH–was it obvious?” While this was something she would do, it was also pretty obvious that she knew the guy. Geez, she’s like an open book! She cracks a smile and laughs lightly, “Yes. I knew you from before.” Folding her arms loosely behind her back, she shakes her head at his next question. “No. I don’t believe so. Though….I really hope you find this place to be soothing and comforting. I know it’s not easy being taken away from home.” Hansol was like that. Always looked at the positive of things. Being brought here gave more opportunities than she would’ve had back home. Here and the city before this, she was allowed to be herself. With exceptions of course. She definitely didn’t want to be what true Gumiho was.
“I’m also glad to see that you’re well. I can see that time’s passed over there, but you don’t look at all different from when I saw you. Just your hair is much shorter.”
At this rate maybe there might be more people who’d recognize him... but just old. At least he didn’t age too much or so he liked to think that; It was mostly around his eye probably, but hell, if he was twenty-four when people saw him last then he was in better shape now. Although much older, he wasn’t as gaunt and had more meat on him again instead of still being what he thought was a husk of a body that had recently been out of the Hole. It took more than a year or two to really recover from that.
“Thanks.” he sighed and tried to not be suspicious of the kind gestures. It was not really the money he was bothered by, just the uncertainty he had about his boss and his brother. As much as he teased his boss, he did worry about the ‘kid’.
“That long hair was a pain in the ass. Always gettin’ in my face when I try to do shit, so I had to cut it. Not too bad, right?” At that point he actually smiled, his tone of voice being much more pleasant. Honestly he didn’t care what anyone thought of his hair, but it certainly helped in leaving an impression, good or bad... as if the snakeskin jacket or eye patch weren’t enough. “So you gonna jus’ run ‘round or gonna drink tea wit me?” He wasn’t sure if she had to attend other things, but in his mind he wondered if she just threw around hospitality without taking a break from it.

“Well, I get my ol’ girl back and I’ll let you hear the difference,” Kate replied with a laugh. It was easy to forget that no one knew how she usually played – then again, it’s not like Kate was in the music business for the fame. She shook the stranger’s hand eagerly. It was a little rougher than she meant, actually, but life went on.
“Goro Majima? Pleasure meetin’ you!” Kate’s face fell slightly as Majima seemed to stop in place – turning into a look of confusion, and then laughter.
“On account of other jobs I got now, I don’t got a set schedule, but put your wallet away! At the very least I hope you’re not tryin’ to pay me. Company’s good enough, truthfully.”
A pleasure meeting him? People normally rolled their eyes or told him to piss off, then again he was being civil and not shoving threats at Kate. Not that he’d ever have a reason to anyway, he didn’t like doing that to anyone who wasn’t involved in the yakuza or any other type of criminal activity; Also he’d be an asshole if he was rude when just meeting someone and on a regular basis wasn’t mean at all when he wasn’t working. Sure he’d swear a lot, but it was simply a bad habit.
It was only a little embarrassing when he remembered money wasn’t exactly the same as he was used to. His wallet would never have anything and simply be in his pocket to not feel like something was missing. No shirt though, still felt complete.
“Of course I was tryin’ to pay, it’s the rules.” He’d have to give up on that. “Company, huh...” It kind of rubbed in how without status he really was a huge loner. Even if he was home in his giant apartment still, he always at least had his personal assistant to bother with stupid texts. “Since you’ve mentioned gettin’ yer guitar back someday... how long you’ve been ‘ere?” Majima hadn’t thought about that in depth yet.
fearaug:
“My bones aren’t that fragile. It will be fine.” whippersnapper, the urge to call the other, young one is immense and its only through self discipline that he manages to not do it. Anyways there was one final tap of his cane on the punks head before finally putting them beneath his notice.
“Youth these days are so excitable. I fear the for the future if this is the best they can do.” was he more sad about the fact that they were so easy to beat without magic and with their youth? Or was he sad about their behaviour?
You truly are Dragneel.
“Should I call a doctor?”
“Yeah, they jus’ wanna punch something to get out that aggression or ‘cause they’re tryin’ to prove shit, but to somethin’ that don’t even matter.” Majima was certainly guilty of the former still currently in his fifties, but it had to be because of someone really screwing up. “But I guess nothin’ can be done ‘bout it ‘cept hopin’ fer the best.” With that in mind he wasn’t sure if time had been lucky or not, but he’d be long dead probably before any really noticeable changes.
Majima had to take a second to make sure he heard that question right. “Ah...” he stared for a moment and didn’t see any noticeable injuries, “Only if ya want to call a doctor, but yer fine, right? I mean, I can make the call or personally take ya if ya need it.” He didn’t know if this old man had conditions he was unaware of and wouldn’t be surprised if something had to be checked regularly.
“If not I’m gonna head to the bar now.” He wanted something stronger than beer. “Unless... do ya drink? It’d be on me fer the trouble ya had with those punks.”

There’s a noise she makes that shows her disinterest in anything she had to put on her feet. She’s gotten so used to being barefoot that it was just how it was. SURE there’s some tiny marking on her feet from either sharp objects and such, but luckily the red ringlets on her body even went as far as her feet and covered those said little scars. She had nothing to worry about, but her hands. Her hands, it took a long, long while to get used to and it didn’t take until the previous city for her to feel comfortable walking around without gloves that she wore for as long as she could remember.
Never mind any of those though. She wouldn’t tell him if he asked, and it wouldn’t be as if he were curious or interested, after all. She wouldn’t want to bore him.
“What’s a Tsukyman?” It sounded like something she would love to eat. MAYBE Asher would eat it with her! OH BOY!
Could she smile any wider than the smile she was wearing already, “YES! YES! I LOVE TSUKYMAN! LE’GO! PROMISE I won’t burn myself!”
Not quite right, but she was close enough. The fact that she already loved it right after not having any idea what he was talking about almost got a chuckle out of him. Almost. Kachina would have to be really clumsy to burn herself, though if he went with the nabe then he wouldn’t be able to blame her too much. There was always some stray drop that would touch skin eventually.
To keep his hands occupied without pulling out another cigarette, he held the bat over his shoulder and tapped it lightly on his jacket, looking to see if any suitable restaurants were around. Nothing too busy would be the best scenario. A few stares were noticed, possibly from both of them sticking out like sore thumbs, but he was used to it and felt Kachina was too and just didn’t care.
There was one place that looked to fit what he was looking for. It was small, but still had space to not feel so cramped. Kind of reminded him of a place he used to frequent when he had first joined the yakuza and would wind down with his oath brother. He could smell ingredients already and heard the sound dishes being washed.
“Guess we’re ‘ere.” The best thing was that he wasn’t considered suspicious from the start. There had probably been stranger people than himself in there before after all. With that thought, he got them a smaller table near the back just for two, though they were pretty much the only ones there besides one other person who looked like they were studying while eating.
Of course he asked for a beer for himself, but Kachina could just decide for herself. As he sat there he saw that there was tsukemen, but he wondered if Kachina was a messy eater or not. If she was then maybe his other option would be better considering a bit of a mess was guaranteed for even the most careful person. “Yer sure ya don’t want anything specific?”
fcxrcin·:
She catches on how his voice lowered and she can’t help but give him a smile, “it’s okay. Everyone knows. I don’t hide what I am.” not anymore at least, and as if to show him what she meant and to confirm his thoughts on if they already met, her tails right behind her, spread out like a fan would almost. “It’s cold outside so I thought it’d be good and fun to just….roam about. I didn’t expect to see you.” She gestures for him to sit, “And—And,” How should she put this without sounding so…suspicious?
“I am a Gumiho, but I promise I won’t do anything.” That’s what most Gumihos would say, right? Then again, gumihos wouldn’t even show their true identity until it was time to strike.
“My name is Yi Hansol, by the way! And uhm….as an apology and a welcome to Isola, I’ve made you some snacks! There’s also tea, should you wish to have some.”
Although he just sat there with no reaction, he was in fact quite surprised by seeing those tails come out. The situation was more like he didn’t know how to properly react to that, so it resulted in nothing and a single extra blink. A gumiho huh? If he didn’t have his habit of leaving the television on all day and night when he actually had time to be home then he would have no idea what that’d mean. He’s seen them, he’s seen those dramas with subtitles slapped over them.
At least he had her name now though, but he frowned slightly at the apology. “Ya really ain’t gotta apologize.” Someone being so polite and having stuff ready for him? Weird, but he wasn’t going to complain.
“Name’s Majima... but I feel like ya already know that.” It was only a bit creepy, but he tried to look on the positive side which told him it made things easier. He couldn’t help but be curious, “Is there a catch I’m missin’?”
still home alone on a Friday night? don’t worry…
you’ve always got someone to dance with…
just as long as you remember these yakuza…

honnari liked your post “August needs more interaction. starter call at four? ”
“Those young men.. were simply nuisances. Thats all I have to say.”
beating several younger men till they were unconscious or running away, it was the right thing to do when they were threatening his life a while ago. Perhaps he had gained a few spectaros.
Picking on an old person was just weak...unless they could kick ass like this guy seemed to be able to do. However, it seemed like it was provoked for no reason and people were just being jerks. Majima had ended up clapping though, letting out a laugh like some kind of excited hyena.
“Yer makin’ it sound like ya have to give an excuse.” Kids were punks, that’s all there was to it really. Not like he was innocent either, but he liked to think he had good reasons whenever he’d hit someone. Sometimes they were out of line or it was part of his job, but he was also lucky to not work under someone who started violence for no reason... or at least he was. Now he didn’t work for anyone at the moment.
“In all seriousness though, you aight, old man?” He didn’t mean it out of disrespect, he just called things as he saw them.
I LOOOOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEE YOUR PORTRAYAL OF MAJIMA! I can HEAR HOS VOICE AND SEE HIS...행동??? Through reading the threads
1-800-how’s my portrayal?
You’re too nice, but thank you! I was worried about it because of not doing any writing in months and also because of having it be older Majima in general. Hopefully I can keep it up. (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧

Please remember there’s a difference between hate, constructive criticism, and giving praise because you don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings.

Now standing and following quick behind him, she places her hands behind her back and skips alongside the older gentleman. Bye bye good food that was just thrown in the trash, and just like that the food is forgotten and abandoned. Don’t worry, she hasn’t forgotten about the candy. She has no pockets so she’s holding it behind her. “I don’t need shoes.” Mumble or not, she was still able to hear him. She didn’t want the guy getting her anything. Shoes got in the way, they were uncomfortable, “Grandma got me some before. They didn’t feel right. They’re uncomfortable, my toes can’t breathe.”
“Anyway~, What are we going to eat?” Just thinking about what kind of food they’d be gifted with has her mouth salivating AND her stomach singing with excitement!
“There’s some that let yer toes breathe.” Sort of, but seeing that she’s already plain bare-footed had him guessing sandals of any kind were a failed attempt. On one half, it was good to see someone young not care about having something trendy, but on the other half it seemed like she didn’t want anything. Now that bodysuit was a bit worrying, but not really the design (or lack of) but because at night it’d get cold. Did she even at least wear a coat if it rained or something? Maybe a single blanket wrapped over? Anything?
“Haw?” he snapped out of his thoughts at the question and shrugged, “I’m specifically in the mood fer tsukemen, but any hot dish really. Lotta meat though too. If it don’t exist ‘round ‘ere then udon would do.” There were so many options probably, ones he wouldn’t have at home, but he just happened to want something familiar because of the fact he wasn’t in Kamurocho.
“Plannin’ on just gettin’ a gigantic portion... on second thought maybe just some nabe would work. Does that sound good fer ya? As long as you don’t burn yerself by accident.”
fcxrcin·:
Now that she was in the cafe and switched, dressed, and ready for the visit, she’s already setting food on the table. Not a lot, but just enough to call it a snack. She won’t offer anything to drink until the person arrived as to keep the drink warm and not cold by time they did show up. When he enters, he’ll be greeted by the gentle chime of the door bell and the soft warm-like music playing in the background on slight low volume. While the cafe is open, only a few customers are seated either enjoying their lunch, reading a book, or silently doing homework, and so on.
She heads out from the back and will greet him with a smile, “HI! I’m sorry about earlier!” She’s quick to bow her head in an apologetic way. At least she’s not giving him the 80-90 degree bow!
A nice and quiet place was appreciated, though he felt out of place. It’s been a while since he’s even noticed his own appearance. Not that he thought it was bad, it was better than wearing a damn suit all the time, but when it wasn’t a crowded area his senses just kicked in a whole lot better.
He moved to go find a place to sit, but that’s when he saw some girl come out to greet him, which naturally he returned it, but... they had already met? She had nothing to be sorry about and Majima assumed it was a mistake, but right when he took a breath to tell her, it dawned on him that it was the fox. She had the same voice, so it had to be... or at least he thought so. Is this where he meets a terrible fate? Wait, maybe not because this chick had gotten the routine backwards.
“Is this something you normally do?” His voice was kept down a bit because he wasn’t sure if it was okay to let everyone around know. As he had asked, he sat himself down and sighed, already wanting a third cigarette, but he had the courtesy not to smoke indoors unless an establishment allowed it.
