The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?
In honor of posting chapter 4 of Bound by Void on AO3 here are some sketches and sort of inspirations I take for the Beasts and Ancients and other Cookies.
The first thing I want to make sure for this AU the Witches would work differently, yes they baked the cookies and gave them life, but are not as kind as portrayed in Witches castle. They will be more align with the folklore and fairy tale witches.
Burning Spice - he is the oldest of the Beasts, he was the one who was most involved with cookies and saw almost everything, keep in mind he was around eons, saw countless kingdoms/republics/etc. fall and rise before he was saw as deity and kept in his temple only to get bored out of his mind. I'm kind of keeping Mesopotamian and first cultures in mind for Burning Spice while keeping his temper and need for destruction (to do it by himself, put his hands to work). For this he is really smart with technology, but his magic is weakened since Creation was taken by Abundance.
Mystic Flour - second oldest, she was in similar place as Burning Spice, but she was put on pedestal of a deity sooner than him because of her ability to grant wishes. Out of all the Beasts time escapes her the fastest. She has inspiration in ancient China, her style and so. As for her magic she heals completely differently than current healers. She actually replenishes flour in the dough instead of simply closing the wound (over using healing could cause cookies to shrink). But overusing her healing can turn cookies dough to flour, so her turning other cookies to flour is overhealing them.
Shadow Milk - middle child, he knows. Oh he knows things and knows he cannot do anything to change them. As scholar he created schools and academies, libraries and then was put in place as mediator when it came to conflicts and outside teaching he was mostly approached by royalty. For inspiration of his behavior I loosely based him on Riddler and keeping in mind Alexandria library. He kept his knowledge as it helps him knowing what is lie and what is truth. But actively tries to keep himself from knowing too much, his head is already too full.
Eternal Sugar - second youngest, she was second mostly involved with cookies keeping in touch with them even after the Garden was fully established trying to keep them happy at all costs (even to her). She got obsessive by keeping cookies with her so she wont feel like tool to be used and discarded. She has huge abandonment issues the worst out of the Beasts. For inspiration its obvious Garden of Eden and Garden of Heavenly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. Also Old testament.
Silent Salt - youngest, even though he was involved with cookies since wealth and status became a thing he focused on the least fortunate ones unconsciously dismissing everybody else. He is the most delusional out of the Beasts, not really realizing he corrupted and how long he was corrupted. For inspiration is Chivalry culture and Knights and Samurais.
Dark Cacao - Inspired by Japan and Shoguns. Set in his ways and thick headed. After the scuffle with Affogato he is open to changes in his kingdom and tries to listen to his people more than before. Even added more sweetness to provisions. Out of the ancients he is the one who could take on the Beasts and possibly win. (I'm still trying to grasp his character fully)
Golden Cheese - obvious inspiration with Egypt and Neoncore, I would also add capitalism to the mix. She doesn't realize but along with Greed she is also Stagnation, wanting to keep everything as it is and not move forward. Surprisingly she is the most averse to changes. She would lose if she went against Eternal Sugar and Shadow Milk (they would not attack her cookies but play on the reality that she actually locked them all in virtual paradise, in a lie).
Hollyberry - inspiration with French baroque and its opulence. As much as she likes her cookies she is not exactly ruler material. Her daughter in law is much better at it. She is out of the Ancients the one who works on herself the most. I think she would have problem with Shadow Milk and Mystic Flour.
Pure Vanilla - inspiration from Christianity and New Testament mostly. Lot of Vatican inspired imaginary and how Christianity should be. He is kind but tends to excuse his friends and cookies. He has few safe foods he tends to eat and the kids noticed. I'm writing him as extremely nearsighted. So he can see things that are about at arms length but everything else is blurry and causes him headache. He would be able to take on Eternal Sugar and Silent Salt.
White Lily - inspired by the nomadic tribes mostly Kazakhs. She does have problem with taking on a lot by herself even if her friends offer help thinking its her own burden. She is trying to reconcile that Dark Enchantress Cookie is splinter of herself, but since everybody seems to see them as one cookie, its hard for her. She would actually take Shadow Milk, Eternal Sugar and Mystic Flour.
The Brave gang - there will be more in the story about them, but one important thing is they always have food on them. Since the Bear jelly incident they never leave their kingdom without food.
For kingdoms
Creme republic - corrupted democracy that puts a lot on cookies flavor and their lineage. There are good cookies there, but ... yeah
Cookie Kingdom - young kingdom that actually works as democracy. So far there is no corruption.
Berry kingdom - kingdom with strong lineage based on ancient hero HollyBerry, currently ruled by her descendant and his wife
Faerie kingdom - currently without ruler, but preparing for war.
rest will be formed more with the story, I keep in mind the other places and how they could be in the story. But for now this is all I try to keep in mind while working on the story.
[trying to explain czech politics to anyone right now] yeah man the head of the "car owners ftw" political party that got not even 7% in the elections (threshold for being allowed in the chamber of deputies as a party is 5% and their popularity is dropping as we speak) wrote in a text message that he intends to blackmail our president, because said president is refusing to let another guy from the car party be a minister. yeah it's because guy 2 got caught severely naziposting on facebook fairly recently. yeah a decently large contingent of politically aware czech population thinks that party head and naziposting guy either 1. are actively fagging out or 2. desire to do so, both because of the Haha Funny Rightwingers Gay homophobia factor and also because party head is somewhat effeminate in manners. yeah no this whole shitshow has been going on since like, october.
