If you died, I would choose not to forget you in 3 seconds, but you're not nerdy enough to understand that
Hugh Jackman has never been as sexy as he is while reading to sheep and carrying one with PTSD out of a carnival

fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didnât grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like âbro what is this đ.â why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
âcollege is absolutely nothing like thisâ âwhy are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one gameâ âso tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!â
if you donât like a fic, and if you canât suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you donât have to read it. you donât have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you donât have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. itâs not giving babyâs first fandom anymore, itâs giving entitled asshole and it isnât as cute as you think it is.
Fuck it reblogging my own tags

Also let's address shipping wars in fandoms. Let's not normalize bashing multi-shippers or regular shippers just because they like a ship you hate (unless its literally an adult and a minor). Especially if the ship they're shipping has genuine research behind it. Nothing wrong with crack ships either. For example I've seen people in the ATLA fandom who ship Kataang literally seeking out Zutara shippers to bash them. There's nothing wrong with Zutara or with Zutara shippers. They deserve a safe space too.

wrote a fic last year and someone commented "are you stupid, what kind of american college works like that"
did you consider that maybe i'm not american and idk shit about american colleges, i just wanted to write something cool.
fandom, fanfiction, fanart, all these things. they come from a place of love, of wanting to appreciate your favourite creations by creating more.
anyone who mocks fic writers, fan artists, editors etc. does not deserve to be in the fandom space. this is a place for love and appreciation and obsessing over things together, not bringing people down for doing things for fun

a lot of people donât understand what fiction is anymore either. I saw someone post a cute drawing of 2 guys and their child. One of the guys was a dragon-shifter. Someone commented that itâs impossible for 2 guys to have a kid. People pointed out it was fiction, the person responded saying âfiction still has to follow the rules of the real world.â No it doesnât, thatâs why itâs fiction, itâs not real. And yeah, if you complain about a gay couple having a kid being unrealistic, but a guy who can turn into a DRAGON is fine, you donât care about things being unrealistic. The drawing wasnât sexual in any way, didnât mention anything about mpreg, just a cute drawing of a family. There was nothing that should have triggered this. If one of the guys wasnât a dragon-shifter, then this could have been a real family that exists in reality

Why don't people write 100k+ word fics anymore? The new fandom whines and moans.
Well, let's see -
Readers have invented a kudos/hit ratio that doesn't account for the way multi-chapter works will gain kudos and hits, so they exclude them from their searches altogether.
Readers won't even look at a fic that's not completed. I've been writing one long fic for 2 years now, and it's not completed. It takes time to write these stories - and without feedback or much feedback, most authors would give up. They do give up, actually.
Readers demand plot arcs, careful characterization, professional-level editing - but won't leave kudos until some magical level of whatever is reached, let alone write comments showing they are engaged in the story. To be clear - no one owes you shit. I'm not owed comments because I wrote a thing. However, readers aren't owed fanfic either. And if authors don't feel fulfilled by writing it anymore, they will and should stop. This is a classic case of a tragedy of the commons. Fandom is meant to be a community where everyone does their part. Artists make art, and the rest of us appreciate it and share it. Writers write stories, and the rest of us read them, engage with them, and share them. Readers and viewers engage, and the creators communicate in response. It's a big, virtuous circle. When readers and viewers become "consumers" rather than members of the community, they turn gifts into "content." Now I'm not writing love letters for my favorite characters, I'm making a product. One that I can't sell or otherwise get anything for the time and effort I put into it. That's why people are filing off the serial numbers and publishing fanfic. That's why people stop writing long-form. That's why people stop writing at all or never start.
My philosophy for reading fics is if I click on it itâs good enough for a kudos even if I donât like it or drop it at some point (though thatâs pretty rare)
Okay ep 5 gets real weird real quickly like wtf???? This was completely unessasary
