I didn’t know that people could have that in real life, I thought it was just used as a shorthand for characterization, to show gentleness or something

So far, the only good ones have been Green Lantern and The Question. Everything other than The Question’s have been hitting you over the head with the fact that they’re queer, but Green Lantern’s makes sense, because it’s discussing queer history instead of having a bunch of buzzwords (and tries to insist that Achilles and Patroclus being cousins was a lie of queer erasure, and not the fact that they can have a little cousincest as a treat, on account of it not being incest back then—it’s also not where I live, and also I blame Catholicism for destroying the traditional family unit and replacing it with nuclear families, by declaring it incest—yeah it was used to erase their queerness, because of the projection of the nature cousins back then being of similar nature to those in their own time, but while it’s more important to the Iliad that they’re lovers, they are also cousins, that is definitely a thing that they are as well) and junk
All the others through the final one were great. That’s 5 out of 9, which is a passing grade in most of the world.

Fandom Problem #14,793:
The way the term headcanon has lost its meaning and most of people just say it about anything they decided to make up
Note: a headcanon is something that is compliant with canon, but not explicitly stated in any official material, such as “Alice likes apples more than pears”
It is not anything that contradicts canon; I think that people generally use “au” for that even though I think that if it’s just a tiny variation it should have its own term, but I can’t find any so that explains why people misuse headcanon

AUTHOR'S NOTES
im not done with this. i feel i was already conceeding far too much in the last strip because honestly, copyright shouldnt even have to be a part of the conversation at all because the AI is not even breaking copyright in the first place.
what you have to understand is that when an image gets "fed" into the training data it gets turned into a bunch of decimal point numbers between 0 and 1 and so far so good right, the image is still technically there, just codified in the form of numbers but it is still the image you have rights to, correct?
except then those numbers get added up and multiplied a million billion times until they are no longer codifying even a shadow of the same information it started with, and this is before we go into the backpropagation phase. so no, the original data of the image is simply not there except as a shadow of a shadow of an echo and if you dont consider that process "transformative enough" then we might as well get rid of the concept of fair use altogether. you might as well never write a story because it be using the same 27 letter other copyrighted stories used.
its "complicated stealing" in the same way that homeopathy is "alternative medicine"
it's so funny hearing much more offline lefties talk about "cancel culture" as if it's this fake thing, when i've seen like mass harrasment campaigns aimed at people for crimes like "joking about how cigarettes are bad for you" (👈anti-indigenous racism), "saying one childrens cartoon is derivative of avatar the last airbender" (👈racist against east asians), "drew fanart of the cartoon character rose quartz skinnier than her canon depiction" (👈fat-phobia, infamously this one led to a suicide attempt), and of course the classic "broke up with me :(" (👈a MISOGYNIST and ABUSER!!!). Like ok. you're repeating this line that cancel culture is fake because j k rowling is still an influential person. And it IS true that mass harrasment campaigns are less effective at fucking up rich peoples' lives. But actually there's a whole other bunch of people who have been fucked up over the years by "cancel culture", and it's exactly the worst of the "cancellers" who push the line that cancel culture doesn't exist to unsuspecting relatively-offline lefties (who don't really have a way of knowing better).
Cancel culture is real, specifically for people who don't have power.
People like JKR can't be meaningfully "cancelled" the way some semi-anonymous kinky trans woman (for example) can.
Callouts and "cancelling" are a weapon that mostly hurts people who were either already unpopular or in relatively precarious positions.
I'm reading a study on how nurses define the term 'drug seeking', and what makes them more likely to put the 'drug-seeker' label on a patient's charts and. well. let me just throw down some quotes
"Needy, unable to cope" (<- you try coping with chronic pain)
"Comfort seeking" (<- you mean.. having a preference for not being in pain.. how criminal)
"Using or trying to obtain drugs on a long-term, chronic base" (<- do you understand what 'chronic pain' means.)
"Asking for pain med then returning to sleep."
"States he’s level 10 pain, but does not appear to be in pain (or ‘5= on appearance)." (<- it is well-known that chronic pain patients tend not to display pain in the same way as acute pain patients)
"Dramatic response to pain" (<- notice how this directly contradicts the comment above. you cannot win)
"Gets IV med, then leaves unit to smoke or walk around" (<- wow requiring medication and then going off to do something you needed pain meds to be able to do is so suspicious)
the article itself put it best when it says: “some comments depict patients trying to apply sound pain management principles, such as continuing to take medication for persistent pain”. no wonder all the other literature on the matter says that women of colour are the most likely group to be labelled drug-seeking. this shit is entirely vibes-based (read: based on the prejudices of nurses and doctors)

Recently, I have been back at Duolingo, and I cannot take the part I am on seriously, on account of what the Latin word for “stuffed” is

anyways those kind of fuck with your bones, transmasc detransitioners are more likely to regret things due to Not Having Actually Been Trans, and transfem ones due to Having Too Masculine A Body To Pass Well even after having been on HRT for a while (I mean generally after a few years trans women can pass pretty well, but it takes years to do that)
The obvious answer is to standardize “female puberty” as standard.
I am only being slightly facetious; I have PCOS and so experienced elements of both forms of puberty, and they were both very unpleasant, despite me being transmasc. Perhaps part of the “male puberty” being as bad as the “female puberty” was being marshlit* about it? I said my voice deepened; they said I was crazy. It went on like that with everything I complained about—I stoically accepted female puberty as a fact of life—growing body and facial hair and developing a layer of what is apparently dead skin that can be rubbed or scraped off when I have been Sufficiently Wet was neither expected by me, nor acknowledged—and, was, in fact, actively denied—by all the adults in my life.
Anyways female puberty is the most “reversible” and I hated all of puberty and my bones are already shit. I have been offered drugs to remove my male-typical attributes, and if they had been offered when I was younger than when I was, perhaps I would have taken them; however, I suspected that they would negatively effect my mental health.
*I don’t know the original definition, but my internal definition of marshlighting is basically unintentional gaslighting; it might be the result of stubbornness and a poor memory, someone lying a lot without actively trying to cause psychological harm, or people being Very Confidently Incorrect. The Autistic Experience is suffering that last one.
The worst developments in Pokemon games, in a meta (not game meta, but the normal use of the term) sense, is having that old lady in Colosseum say that she’s dating a Mightyena
Which implies that the Vaporeon Copypasta is right, and a vaporeon is, in fact, fuckable (I doubt it’s the most fuckable, but the fact that it is at all pisses me off, because I don’t like that humans are in that Egg Group. We shouldn’t be in two Egg Groups!) (sure this came out like a decade or two before the Vaporeon Copypasta, but it’s an obscure and partially validates it)
The other is adding Gardevoir in the Human-Like Egg Group, when the species was originally only in the Amorphous Egg Group.
this isn’t a matter of “oh there used to only be space for one Egg Group but now there’s enough for two”; the only reason that gardevoir are fuckable is that people wanted to fuck them. This is just fanservice, pure and simple. It was really neat that it was in the Amorphous Egg Group! It showed that despite their prevos being humanoid, they are fundamentally Something Else.
Then they ruined it. Presumably this is due to the lack of waifu Pokemon in Galar, because Galar is terrible. I think that Hatterene is kind of waifu-shaped, so couldn’t they have put that in the Human-Like Egg Group instead? But no. They had to make Gardevoir fuckable.

"what do we do about people who fake disabilities to get ssi" we throw them a fucking party for pulling off the most difficult and unrewarding grift of all time. literally i don't care
if anyone does that then it’s pretty clear evidence of Münchausen Syndrome, because no one would ever do that otherwise.
everyone whining in the notes "iT dOeSnT hApPeN!!!" are free to type "faking cancer grift" into the youtube search bar and then eat my entire ass.
That’s not against the government, though? You can’t get money by faking disability against the government; you can easily get it by setting up a GoFundMe or whatever
It’s why I don’t ever reblog GoFundMes; probably most of them are lying. Government disability payments are basically nothing, while a talented GoFundMe grifter could probably make a decent living off of that kind of thing. Meanwhile, people on disability are not allowed to own enough money to buy a good computer.
