Just watched descendants for the first time since I was 10.

My favorite part are the evil villain parents who are clearly in a polyamorous relationship

Shoutout to Disney’s Descendants for having the most vibes based worldbuilding I’ve ever seen in my life. Legitimately thinking about any of it for more than two seconds makes everything crumble apart logistically and I think there’s an art in that.

Anyone else feel like the new Descendants was a bit... too ambitious with all the new characters?

There's like. Eight new characters in this group. And I think even the movie realized that was too many since two of them are twins who barely do anything and are treated like the same entity (merely henchmen to another character at that) and two more of them get separated from the group. Which begs the question of why they were even there honestly.

Outside of Red and Chloe, all you really needed on this adventure were Pink, Luis, Hazel, and Max. And before you argue against Luis, he DOES serve a purpose outside of being "the love interest": he's someone Red confides in, making Pink and Chloe feel pushed aside and fueling their character arcs. Meanwhile Max was briefly a villain and Hazel is the main VK that Red frequently agrees with over Chloe, again fueling her character arc.

So. Again. Why are the Smee twins, Robbie(?) Hood, and Felix Facilier even there? The movie clearly didn't have the time to properly include them or let them make as strong an impression as the other characters. Which is a shame cuz they could've been really fun.
