Allow me to preface this by saying I do not get angry easily.

I don’t care if people dislike kpop artists, I care that they disrespect them.

These boys and girls have gone through more crap to get to where they are, and have put up with so much. If anything, even if you don’t like them, you will respect them.

Allow me to just point to one example, that of Min Yoongi. (There are many I can pull out of my hat. Amber, Jackson, Namjoon, most of EXO, I could go on. But Yoongi’s story is one of my favorites.)

His parents didn’t approve of his dream to become an musician, and if you don’t know about Asian culture, parental approval is a huge thing. They burned his music, and wouldn’t pay for his lessons.

Min Yoongi worked part time jobs delivering so he could get music lessons. He injured his shoulder in the process, and heaven only knows how his parents reacted.

Oh, he has depression and social anxiety as well. His parents took him to a psychiatrist and then told him they didn’t know who he was anymore. He didn’t even know who he was. He hid himself away to make his family happy and tried to do what they wanted, but he was dying on the inside. He would hide in the bathroom and cry.

Did this stop when he became a trainee? No. His depression and social anxiety were still there, and his parents still didn’t approve. He doesn’t speak a lot on what happened during the trainee days, but there were a lot of people that said he wouldn’t make it, and a lot of people that betrayed him.

Min Yoongi went through hell.

Min Yoongi had no one that believed in him.

Min Yoongi started out rapping in front of two people.

Min Yoongi is a person just like us.

Min Yoongi made his dream a reality.

Min Yoongi may not have changed the whole world, but he has changed mine and so many other’s.

And dammit you will respect him for that.

They’re not “pretty boys” or “hot girls.” They’re human beings. They’re people just like us that had the strength to fight for what they wanted. To go through hell and unimaginable pain for what they wanted. People that teach others to believe in themselves, and remind us that the world isn’t all bad.

They have changed my life.

They have saved my life.

They have been there for me when no one else was.

Just because you can’t look past language barrier or the fact that they’re all in a group, you disrespect them? You don’t understand why we love them so much?

Learn to listen to the music with your heart instead of your ears, and then maybe you’ll understand.

Yes bad boys are hot and cool blah blah blah but you know what I want? I want a cute dork that is sweet as heck and will watch Dan and Phil and Doctor Who and Sherlock with me and let me braid his hair and I want him to be kind enough to forgive me when I screw up, because heaven knows I screw up a lot, and I want him to be enough of a man to apologize for when he screws up. I want someone that I know isn’t going to leave me, and someone that I know is going to always love me. And heck to the no to you idiots who say that type of love doesn’t exist because let me tell you a story.

My mom’s uncle recently became a widower at age 94. He was married to his wife for 72 years, and had Janie lived a couple months longer it would have been 73. Before Janie died I went to visit them, and you’d think after being married that long goodnight kisses and pet names would be overrated, but every morning Everett would come in and give Janie a kiss on the forehead and tell her good morning, and she always called him her sweetheart. Every night after watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune before they went to their room, he’d kiss her cheek and help her up since she was pretty weak at this point. He cried at her funeral, and he hasn’t stopped loving her.

So don’t you dare tell me it doesn’t exist, because it does. It’s rare, yes. But its there. So don’t give up on finding that one person, and don’t tell me to give up on it either.

i see all these posts around here that are like “date someone who…” and all that’s fine and good but like i feel like they focus on cutesy stuff and leave some really important stuff out. so like yes, date someone who you can watch netflix with and pet dogs with and make waffles with but also 

date someone who will call you out on your shit

date someone who thinks the sun shines out of your ass, but also knows you’re not perfect and will offer the support you need to change and grow

date someone who doesn’t passively accept your flaws, but recognizes them and helps you deal with them

date someone who you can disagree with but still love and care for all the same

date someone who can understand where you’re coming from and help you through your rough times

date someone who won’t enable your negative, self-destructive habits and tendencies

date someone who doesn’t think “you’re perfect don’t ever change” but rather “i love you and will help and support you in whatever changes you need to make”

date someone who sees you not as a perfect lover but as a human being and who wants to be with you even though they can see all your faults

basically date someone who’s going to be with you, not just worship you. and more importantly, be this person for your SO. do not put them on a pedestal and call it love.

lol people just love hating on army. I’ve seen seven, i repeat, seven, posts today about how ‘immature these armys are’ and that ‘the old armys were chill and the new ones are like ??’ and im not kidding. there were actually seven posts.

stop stereotyping us of all being brats and obnoxious because some of us actually value them as human beings who we genuinely care about.

people keep saying that all these bts jokes are getting old, and some are, but you cant really blame the people who still use them, because hell, you don’t even know if they joined our fandom yesterday or three years ago.

a lot of us do not, i repeat, do not, fetishise everything the boys do. the back of the knee pads thing was a joke, and i believe that western band’s fandoms are exactly the same. from what I’ve seen, they also talk about thighs and biceps, write smuts and ship each other (e.g. Larry) and just because we joke around about collarbones doesn’t mean we actually mean it. learn to take a joke, would you?

bts is a boy band, and like all boy bands, they are targeted towards audiences of 12-17 year old girls, i.e. the teenage girls who are very hormonal and are fantasising about fucking every star they are attracted to. those kids you see commenting all over youtube? most of them are probably just a few wannabe ass twelve-year-olds trying to fit in with the ‘cool kids’. take a look at my blog or any bts blog in general, and you will see, most of us don’t think that if our fandom is everywhere, it means our fandom is the biggest.

ive seen other kpop groups come into this: don’t bring exo or big bang into this situation. its only natural to want to support your bias group. why else do you think we buy albums? army, exo-l, vip or even a directioner, you want to meet your idols, show that you love them, because why else would you be in the fandom? some of us just get too carried away.

some armys are kind people and aren’t complete assholes like some of you think. we have lives. we have friends. we have things to do out of kpop. do you think we’re going to spend our whole day picking fights with everyone for the fun of it. no fucking way.

do not call us the most childish fandom. do not stereotype all of us based on a majority of people. do not say we are bringing the boys down because some of us are not. some appalling people are just going out of their way to give us a bad name without even knowing.

i understand that it is annoying to have armys go around spamming bts over everything, but do you really have to go to the extent of captions like ‘armys will always be annoying and obnoxious’ or ‘i wish the armys would just fucking stop’

sorry for ranting, i just needed to let this out. i feel insulted to be considered a person who is annoying or immature.

no but srsly people stop hating on army. there are more people that go out of their way to yell at army than there are annoying army. 

tbh NONE of the armys i know in real life are remotely annoying about kpop, and NO i’m not going to be a butthole and say what fandoms the annoying people i know are from because I don’t stereotype entire fandoms based off of a few people. I know people who thought that jimin has no jams was still cool because they had literally started watching bts a week before. 

Honestly the bts fandom was worse a few months ago but it has more than calmed down now and considering how messy kpop is in general, I can guarantee that a few months of excessive spamming is not the worst thing that a fandom has ever done.
