I'm pro-choice because after I was raped twice at 15 years old, it became a very real possibility that I would be faced with such a decision. I never had to, thankfully, but I am one of the lucky ones. If I had been forced to have a child at 15 years old, as a lesbian and a severely mentally ill person, I most likely would have killed myself. it's not up to people who have never been in that situation to tell me how I have to deal with the effects of my trauma. not your body, not your choice.

it makes motherhood out to be something you do because you have to, not because you genuinely want to

it’s infantilizing to make it seem like she can’t make decisions about her own life

it’s invalidating of her desires which she is capable of knowing and communicating

it’s telling a grown woman that you know what she wants better than she does
