Due to my weird childhood and my weird brain, I have this very unhelpful compulsion to conceal Everything I do from Everyone. I Cannot be observed performing any action, no matter how mundane. My nervous system is convinced I'm gonna, like, Get In Trouble for eating food at dinnertime or sleeping in my bed at bedtime.
I've taken to asking myself, "Okay does this task actually require subterfuge or am I stealing a balloon on Free Balloon Day"
Naga and Mermaid Aspasia for @svenderthings // Thank you so much again shes always a joy to draw/
it doesn't have to get done, it just has to be perfect

my friend needs help!
hey, my friend's struggling with money right now, and could use quite a bit of help.
she's been having a really hard time, with a job that's extremely hard on her physically and emotionally, in addition to facing repeated transmisogyny at that job.
any amount is helpful, but she's got quite a bit of things piling up at once. I'm attaching a screenshot of a message of hers about what all is needed and why
anything is helpful! even if you don't think it would be, if every person who thinks their help won't be enough donates even a few dollars, that can quickly add up if the post is spread enough!
here's her accounts!:

hello
Unknown Cockroach (order Blattodea)
drew an artfight attack for miycaris (plus, miycaris <- on Telegram)
нарисовались две волшебницы, но я их по отдельности опишу:
two magicians in a row, but i'll describe them separately (translation comes under the original text):
первая - волшебница Огня в традиционном праздничном и бытовом костюмах удмуртов (Собственно Южной группы) конца 19 - начала 20 века
*) убор айшон всегда идет в паре с платком, так как айшон - фактически основа убора, но, тем не менее, платок рассматривается не как его часть, а как отдельный элемент костюма
*) стоит также упомянуть и прическу чузырет (фото 2), которую делали женщинам, прожившим замужем год, либо родившим первенца. честно, ни у кого больше я такой прически не видела, что довольно интересно
*) я нарисовала ей перчатки, хотя костюм летний: она управляет Огнем, поэтому ей нужна защита от стихии. в принципе, можно было бы дать ей другую стихию, но тогда пришлось бы другую палитру подбирать, что довольно сложно, учитывая важность красного цвета в костюме...
=====================
the first one is a Fire magician in the traditional festive and casual Udmurt costumes (of the Actual Southern group (i'm not sure on the accuracy of this translation)) of the late 19th - early 20th century.
*) the айшон hat is always paired with a headscarf, as the айшон is essentially the foundation of the hat. the headscarf is considered as a separate element of the costume, though, not just as a part of айшон.
*) back then the "чузырет" hairstyle (photo 2) was widespread - it was worn by women who had been married for a year or had given birth to their first child. honestly, i haven't encountered any other people with such a haircut, which is quite interesting.
*) i drew her with gloves on, even though it's a summer costume: she controls Fire, so she needs protection from the adverse effect of magic. i could have given her a different element to wield, but then i'd have to think about the color palette, which is quite difficult, given the importance of red in this traditional costume…
=====================
*) цветовая палитра отличается от той, что есть у настоящего костюма - ее одежда выцвела, обледенела как будто. так вот, она может создавать Лед благодаря тому, что владеет камнями Воды и Ветра - это не по силам никакому другому существу в Ином мире.
*) одежда невесты Завятских удмуртов отличается от простой праздничной тем, что конец убора спускается девушке на глаза, у молодой женщины конец убора располагается на лбу, а платок имеет либо черный, либо красный цвет (такой надевают после 3 лет в браке).
*) ботинки должны быть черного цвета, здесь идет вольность авторская. черно-белый градиент добавляет к холодности образа и завершает его удачнее.
=========================
the second one is an Ice magician in a traditional Udmurt bride costume (of the Zavyatskaya group) of the 19th-20th centuries.
but this is no ordinary girl… she's half monster! she's the daughter of Palesmurt, a monster from Udmurt folklore that is cut in half, which is why the right side of her body is "see-through" straight to the bone...
she was imprisoned for centuries, because she was obsessed with encasing the whole earth in ice, but some real smart fella in a red hat with horns set her free by mistake!
*) the color palette differs from that of the real costume—her clothes are faded, as if frozen. well, she can create Ice thanks to her ability to wield the Water and Wind stones, which is something no other creature in the Other world can do.
*) the bride's attire differs from other festive costumes in that the front end of the headdress hangs down over the eyes; a similar festive headdress of a young woman has a smaller front end, and its headscarf is either black or red (the latter is worn after three years of marriage).
*) the shoes should be black, but this is where Artistic Freedom (tm) comes into play. the B/W gradient adds to the coldness of the design and completes it better, than a solid color would, in my view.

Any support y'all can give while i look for new work and get back on me feet would be appreciated
what I wish people would understand about fundraising for gaza is that while everyone is desperate and I would never say not to fundraise for or donate to individual families-- I currently fundraise to support multiple friends' families-- the overwhelming narrative I see on Tumblr that the best and most ethical thing you can do is send money to individuals and there is no option for anything else is so so incredibly damaging and inadvertently lends support to the marginalization and distrust of any remaining communal social infrastructure. the sameer project, which you should donate to, talks about this in a recent video they put out. the situation in gaza is unimaginable and everyone is in need of a huge level of support, and yet this fundraising discourse by well-meaning people in the west that donating money to individuals is the only moral way reproduces societal divides wherein resources are directed to people who speak English, who have relationships with people outside of gaza, and who have internet access while hundreds of thousands are left behind.
there ARE non-ngo locally based grassroots initiatives working to meet those needs however they can, and your small donation goes a lot further with them because they are able to buy food/water/supplies in bulk at a reduced price and reach more people with less money. again I'm not saying people shouldn't fundraise for individuals because these initiatives are so limited and many people cannot access them -- but as an example, the group I fundraise with is currently serving people fleeing north gaza who are starving and have nothing, and when we fundraise enough to do cash aid distribution there's so much need that our partners can only distribute 100-200 per large family. and then I go online and see people who have absolutely no understanding of this context at all exclusively working towards raising tens of thousands for just a few people when evacuations haven't been possible for months. it's good to do whatever you can but please consider how this narrative being reproduced among westerners trying to help that there are no other options has the potential to damage groups working towards equity and wider reach however is still possible
We are a donations based aid initiative for Gaza led by Palestinians,
