Inspire, educate and take action!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone!!!!!!, This is an especial moment I want to share with you, because once I left the amazing DGLA experience, I have lived everyday with that feeling of “take action”, I really wanted to do my project as soon as possible, but of course, I needed more time to plan the whole project with...

beyond the sea:
Hey!!!! I have been searching for a lot of data and information about the health status in my community, specifying about this severe disease that is killing so many people, Tuberculosis. For me it was and it is really important to get an important amount of data, specific...
As we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, it's important to not only remember the man himself, but to also keep in mind the struggle involved with creating true equality for all people. In a time where there are still people around the world dreaming of such a basic human right, it's as important as ever to take the time to watch this incredible speech from Dr. King.
This past week, ICL Global Leader Sifo Cersosimo participated in a service project in conjunction with Teleton - a non-governmental organization that helps people with different mental and social needs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"Every year, the Teleton program creates a TV program that last for 27 hours - with the aim of reaching a certain amount of money that they choose as a goal. Each year there is an even bigger goal.
The money that they raise is used to create new rehabilitation centers and to purchase new medical equipment to help the people in need. In Uruguay, there is are two major urban centers - one in the capital city of Montevideo and the other one in Fray Bentos. That is where most of the investments are placed each year. All this assistance is given for free.
During the TV marathon, people can volunteer to help in different aspects. This is where Icame in with my assembled team of friends. Volunteers go in groups to different locations around the country to collect money. Teleton gives the volunteers a shirt, hat, and food, and sends them off for minimally four hours to collect money from people that want to donate and to inform them about the program and the benefits of making a donation.
At the end of the service challenge, (which is much like the service challenge we planned and completed in Canada last summer,) we can go to the television studio and help count the final tally of money. We were also able to spend some time with a group of people that we helped while being able to experience a portion of the live show.
It was an extremely rewarding experience for all involved.
This year, the Teleton raised a total of $49,470,76 (USD) and our group was able to raise $2,809 (USD) by ourselves in one afternoon, which was GREAT!"
As we take time this weekend to mourn the passing of a great humanitarian, it's important to remember that we should heed the words of Nelson Mandela by learning from our past while looking forward. Social progress can only be achieved through open-mindedness, education, and love for our fellow man.
Those days, I was reading the service leadership guide and some things that i wrote there. While I was reading I was remembering every single moment, things that I learned and share with amazing people, with you :). So I think that could be a good idea to share some notes that i took…
Do you...
My project!
I am happy to say that the drama preformance was a great success and we managed to raise over 100 books and toys for the children of the mangagare refugee centre!
The success of my project inspired me to support the centre even further which resulted in the Mangere Refugee centre supporting me in organising a school cross country to raise funds to bulid a playground for the children.
I have gotten many of my friends on board with the project and will post more about its progress!:)
ICL Global Leader, Ines Echeguia talks about her experiences building homes for the homeless in her community.

OKK! so we are doing well with our project, we have around 350 books!
Also we decided to include another organaization from La Cava (a villa from Argentina) which helps around 1000 students. So yes! we are doing pretty good!

Last week, Dr. Graham Brown, President of the Institute for Civic Leadership stopped by for a visit with some past ICL Global Leaders at the British Schools in beautiful Montevideo, Uruguay. It was great to see our Global Leaders in their own environment as well as the perfect chance to keep updated on how they are all impacting their communities! Keep up the great work, guys!
