And so it ends. I can't believe I've been doing this for over 2 years now. I remember I did the first episode during my exams, because I wanted to procrastinate on studying and I got all hyped to try my hand at translating. Fast forward a month later and I gave up in the middle of the second episode.
I want to give a shout-out to that one person who commented on my YouTube upload of episode 1 and politely asking me if I plan to continue. That comment came like, 4 months after the first episode, but it was what made me complete the 2nd episode, and then I resolved to do the whole series. I was scared to take this project on because I have motivation issues and I worried that I would lose my will within a few months, but I actually made it through.
As of today, all 52 episodes have been translated!! Although there are many flaws and imperfections within it, I have learnt to accept them. I'm not going to say that my subs are 100% accurate because they are not, but I truly did this project out of love and passion for a piece of my childhood that I wanted to share with everyone.
The last episode really made me quite a bit emotional for multiple reasons. The truth is, I never watched the full show when I was a kid, so I've actually waited these 2 years patiently to find out how exactly the story concludes. It's not a perfect story by any means but it means the world to me. The joy and disbelief I felt realising that I finished translating this show 20 years after it first aired? Insane. (The first ep aired in October of 2005, if I'm right.)
โผ Taking Down the Episodes on Internet Archive
I also want to use this post to announce that I'm going to take down all the episodes I've uploaded on the Internet Archive within a month or two. I want to first explain this decision on the basis that while I know what I did was not really legal, it was my way of trying to preserve the translations while I figured my way around how I want to do this project.
For protecting myself, I will be taking down all those videos because I do not have the right to post the episodes. HOWEVER, I will only do that after I have made a separate upload of a ZIP file containing the subtitles for all 52 episodes. So if you're worried about losing the translations, don't worry because I'll be putting those up.
I'm pretty sure that's my intellectual property since I did the translations, so I think I'm allowed to put those up.

I would also recommend waiting for that ZIP file because those subtitles are updated after a second rewatch I'm currently doing to fix any translation errors I can find, any typos, structural issues and to have uniformity in how certain terms, lines, phrases and names are translated. Those subtitles will be 10ร much better to watch with, so please wait for them a little longer โก
โผ What I'm Doing From Now On
So right now, I'm currently rewatching all the episodes to fix the subtitles and hopefully I'll be done within a month or so. Once the subtitles are done, I'm hoping to get them to anime websites so anyone can watch Idaten Jump with subs. That's always been my dream.
I'm definitely going to be active here on tumblr, and you can expect some fanfics or (god forbid I have the terrible idea to try my hand at) fanarts. I will always be accessible here if you want to ask any questions about the translations, or the subs. I am also now free to make posts about all the characters, my headcanons for them, my interpretations and also fun tidbits about my view of them so I'll definitely be doing that, if you're interested.

I also had the idea to "make subs myself", but with far fewer skills and languages at my disposal it would likely have remained a distant and impossible dream. But now, it's like you're a mystical fairy that was sent to realise my dreams as a child. Only no magic is involved, and the result was accomplished through your sweat blood and tears instead, which is far greater and more amazing than any magic ever will be!

I feel like he lies better when indirectly like this or when his sister wasn't around. Sadly "doesn't want anyone to worry" is a common flaw for anyone, even for someone with a happy family. He's probably has had enough of people worry about him because of his phobia & his choice in outdoor activity so hiding his problems is a normal occurence for him even before the "dark light" incident.

That's true, and also the fact that Takeshi casually gave bikes with enough power to destroy the entire universe to a bunch of 10 to 13 yr olds with the only exceptions being Koei and Arthur is something I've been questioning for so long
Well, Takeshi is basically a royalty from another world so his mindset is probably kinda different from ordinary people, and Arthur enabling the kids is maybe reflects the custom there, too. Only Yuki questions "why is this kid has the superweapon I search for so long??" but resigned herself and tried to be proactive for the kids
Koei is also a kid, basically. 18 years old, the age where everyone is confused about everything. And tbh the show surprisingly did a good job to portray his immature side. He just forced himself to grow up early for Kiku's sake.
I wonder how takeshi met Sho's mom in the first place and why he even went to the other world and stayed there long enough to have a wife and kids when he had a whole city to rule back home. It's been a while since i watched the series but I don't think they touched upon that subject
My personal headcanon? Since Sho's mom sells bento lunch boxes, my take was that after Takeshi landed in our world when he was homeless and hungry he came across her shop selling food but had no money and she took pity on him and fed him leftovers free of charge.
He vowed to pay her back and after getting the right info from her, he set out to make money from the only way he knew how: riding MTBs. He eventually made his way up in the ranks as someone with X-zone level talent, and after winning enough prize money he came back to the small town to fulfill his vow.
At that point she'd been watching his progress in the news as his fame rose and had come to admire him and his character quite a bit so they got together.
As for his canon brilliance in giving powerful bikes to young kids... I'm pretty sure the in-universe explanation is that this is due to them being the most talented and skilled riders around by sheer coincidence, with the added possibility that these ended up being the only people the bikes and their particular powers were compatible with.
I'm gonna add my own headcanon to it tho: Takeshi purposely may have chosen kids because they'd still have room to grow on top of their existing talent, unlike adults who'd more likely already be at their peak and potentially be on the decline. Given the kind of foes and challenges they'd face, maybe younger riders were preferable since they could adapt and learn better.
That makes sense, having adult riders would cause them to be out of their prime wayyyy faster than it would take for the kids to grow and hone their skills
Plus, kids would heal faster and bounce back better than adults would too. It's hard to say how long they'd be trying to take the evil spirit down for (assuming even Takeshi didn't have the best estimates) so it would be preferable to go with kids who are in the process of growing up rather than adults who are about to be growing old.
Also consider that Takeshi was in a hurry. He hosted the Ancient Curseโข and didn't have much time. He selected his heroes based on their potential(maybe?) before his entire consciousness disappear. So far we have Nepotism (Yamato bros), someone from X-Tower (Arthur), and some random talented youngsters. Thats good enough to save the world :""
Fair point. He might have been forced to choose the first decent and compatible people he found without much option, and RNG got us these fellows. Which might also make sense why he went for his own kids who ride + their friends and schoolmates, along with a knight and ninja from X-zone who seemed like they'd make good additions to the team.

Also I recommended kamen rider gavv (the one with the character missing because of personal mission without telling the others directly), it's also a reverse isekai story with the MC gets thrown out of his world to human world & rescued by humans. I can imagine Takeshi's first day on earth by basing that on the aforementioned MC.
Given what Sho was like coming back to our world after spending a few months in X-zone I'll bet it was nothing short of him trying to jump off houses on a bike and getting a broken leg. Maybe he fell in front of his future wife's shop and that's how they met...?

And as soon as Yuki managed to get someone else to take her place with proper training she set off after them like she'd wanted bc mama needs to protect her babies! ๐ซ
I'm convinced Koei and Arthur laugh now because they've definitely received their fair share of nicknames from Yuki at this point.
Also, I always remember how at the MTB tournament award ceremony it was Yuki who noticed that Taiga wasn't there and asked if anyone had seen him. Mama-hen was definitely counting to see if all her little chickies were there. XD

He had so much potential as a rider, like they could've given him imperial tiger to use, not once did we see him as anything other than Gabu's personal assistant or something, they could've made him an actual important character that contributes to the plot tbh.

Given what Sho was like coming back to our world after spending a few months in X-zone I'll bet it was nothing short of him trying to jump off houses on a bike and getting a broken leg. Maybe he fell in front of his future wife's shop and that's how they met...?
If Takeshi broke his legs it would be a nightmare for a rider like him :" I love the theory that he was hungry & met Sho's mom. Maybe he tried to barter with bike parts, Sho's mom got angry, and he wanted to leave but hunger made him lose consciousness in front of her shop?
True, but athletes do unfortunately get injuries all the time. It doesn't have to be a major injury, even a sprained ankle would be enough. I just like the idea of him having to stay at her house while slowly developing feelings for each other, idk. XD
But I do like the idea of him trying to pay with bike parts, that would be epic. Maybe he first passes out in front of the shop and when he wakes he's so hungry he finishes all the food provided for him without thinking, then finds out they don't accept his funky currency and had to work at the store to pay off his debt for a while and that's how they came to know each other?

There are different edition of the game, were the rules have been changed and updated. The two most famous are 3.5 and 5e. Last year they publish what want to be a new edition and become instead of a 5.5. "New"/younger people know more the 5e, while the 3.5 is more popular between older players or who begun to play at 25 years ago and more.
About the classes, based on 5e.
Fighter is considered one of the easiest class (depending of the subcalsses), you have instead of one or two, more attack. You can use all the armours and weapons. Very little if none magic. You just gain things levelling up, and keep attacking more.
Rogue is a nice class. It's based on stealth, and if you manage to attack with that, like from behind, you can attack with bonus and do a tons of damage. No heavy armor or weapons.
While Ranger is appealing, is kinda viewed as a weak class, since its abilities are not structured well. People who want to play this class usually use the expansion's manual. A ranger can have a small animal as partner and have ability to "mark" character to add bonus to their damage.
Artificer is a class where you can build your own tools for damage. It's a very appreciated classe but it's not in the base manual.
Druid is someone who can't use metal armor and have something called a "circle". Usually with spell and weak in melee fight, 3 animal form standard, you unlock with level. (So until like level 9 you cannot have all 3 forms).
Let's talk about wizard and sorcerer.
Both magic class, weak in melee, no armor, but magic that can sub this need (more or less). Wizard is a "school" guy, use a book, and he have to have the book to throw his spell. He can use only the spell he has in his book. And the player has to select them and they are a lot.
While a Sorcerer is born with magic, he don't need to study or use a book, it comes from him naturally. That's while he has this ability where sometimes his magic has "accident", and it throw spells on their own. Basically the Dungeon Master, or DM, or following up a spell, can ask the player to throw a dice which determine what happenes in a long list. Both positive and negative or nonsense.
Paladin and barbarian are kinda like the meme and agreed to both Ayumu and Arthur (which with the armor fit.)
Bard is something that use music to support, so not a fight class. It doesn't use stealth, it plays on fascination and convincing. Can heal too among other things.
Let's say something about other classes too. Warlock is a magic class that receive magic from a pact with someone, be it a God, Demon, "Entity".
Monk is kinda Aang class. No armor, rarely weapon, fist fight. Very very powerful.
Cleric is healing class. Support, but can be made a powerful magic class, depending the subclasses.
But something that matters more than classes are subclasses, something you unlock at level 3 (or you can begin your adventures at lv.3). It defines more what you are.
Basically a fighter can be a shaswbucker fighter, or like babarian style. A rougue can be a thief or an assassin, a paladin can be of revenge or of a good cause. So it changes a lot and when you choose a class you already have an idea of what subclasses you want to be.
Also a lot depends on the "race" too. Be it an elf, halfling, a dwarf, dragonborn, tiefling, human etc. and the background you give it. It changes the perception.

I myself am from the newer batch so what familiarity I have is with 5e, rather than 3.5. Most of my awareness comes from memes and the cursory base descriptions I read for the classes on the official site.
So I lack understanding of the practicalities of how the classes play, subclasses or associated skills (apart from ones that commonly make it to memes like fireball or wild shape lol).
I do also like the idea of coming up with different races for each character, but I'm even less familiar with those than the classes and will likely have to do some research for them (especially given how their base stats affect how the classes and skills play?).
But based off the VIBESโจ of what I do know, I get the idea of:
Dragon is good (connected to Ayumu who rides Imperial Dragon). Bird motifs would be a friendly fire (Kyoichi's still one of them, remember?). Red dragon like in Dungeon Meshi would be cool.
I've watched "Legends of Avantris" on yt for more DnD inspirations, it has good animations about DnD experiences & funny things that could happen on the plotline

I also almost made Kyoichi the part-bird species but then I remembered bro's thing with birds and how this would render him utterly dysfunctional, lol.
I don't know whether to laugh or to cry about how I keep forgetting about Kyoichi's fear of birds and nearly giving him bird motifs since I keep thinking of the first OP and how he shows up around the same time as the eagle. (I'd definitely end up accidentally jumping this guy with something like Hosuke does.)

For me the Shidou siblings are two different flavors of Abyssinian cats. Makoto is calm but flashy, also friendly but quite easy to lost her temper. Kyoichi is stealthy, looks "weak" but actually one of the most skillful member of his party, cool-headed but kinda fussy sometimes.
Considering I'm the main one orchestrating this AU, I fear said DM is me haha XD
I took a cursory look at DnD races from a website to get these (people who're more knowledgeable than me feel free to one-up me here). Thing is, I keep trying to stick to the theme of their bikes and powers when deciding races, but I keep finding too many options thanks to the extensive lore of DnD lol
For example... looking at water-based races for Makoto we get tritons, sea elves, simic hybrid, and idk about the differences between them well enough to be able to decide which would be best lol
For Hosuke we got Aasimar which have wings, Aarakocra which is just straight up a bird and Owlin which is an owl (but then that would be his true form... unless he's under a curse that turned him into an owlin from something else).
For Kyoichi I was thinking sun elf, since they tend to be blond and have closed off cold personalities.
Tho that means we might have to make Yuki something else if we're going to make them all diff races... in which case we could just make her a human as the most normal person out of the whole cast lol.
I thought a changeling might suit Arthur if we're to base off his character being in disguise and working as a spy. But if we're to reference him and his bike's strong and sturdy nature then goliath or half-orc could be fitting.
Options for Ayumu include Kender (apparently this is from a setting called dragonlance? makes me think it fits), Halfing and gnome
Found another option for Taiga besides drow: Dhampir. This would keep the dark motif and bat association with him. Alternately, we have Shadar-kai which are a type of elf that live in darkness.
...But we could give that to Koei instead. Though if we go with his night and fox motifs, we could do "Shifters" who're like werewolves.
But if you really want to go with cats for the Shido siblings there's Leonin (lion) for Kyoichi and Tabaxi (lynx) for Makoto.
OMG TAIGA AS DHAMPIR FEELS FITTING DOWN TO THE FANG MOTIFS. AND KOEI AS A SHIFTER. Kyoichi basically would be a kindest sun elf because he's actually open-minded, not haughty nor an elitist (but Sho sees him as such because he's blunt & strict).

I feel like he lies better when indirectly like this or when his sister wasn't around. Sadly "doesn't want anyone to worry" is a common flaw for anyone, even for someone with a happy family. He's probably has had enough of people worry about him because of his phobia & his choice in outdoor activity so hiding his problems is a normal occurence for him even before the "dark light" incident.

That's true, and also the fact that Takeshi casually gave bikes with enough power to destroy the entire universe to a bunch of 10 to 13 yr olds with the only exceptions being Koei and Arthur is something I've been questioning for so long
Well, Takeshi is basically a royalty from another world so his mindset is probably kinda different from ordinary people, and Arthur enabling the kids is maybe reflects the custom there, too. Only Yuki questions "why is this kid has the superweapon I search for so long??" but resigned herself and tried to be proactive for the kids
Koei is also a kid, basically. 18 years old, the age where everyone is confused about everything. And tbh the show surprisingly did a good job to portray his immature side. He just forced himself to grow up early for Kiku's sake.
I wonder how takeshi met Sho's mom in the first place and why he even went to the other world and stayed there long enough to have a wife and kids when he had a whole city to rule back home. It's been a while since i watched the series but I don't think they touched upon that subject
My personal headcanon? Since Sho's mom sells bento lunch boxes, my take was that after Takeshi landed in our world when he was homeless and hungry he came across her shop selling food but had no money and she took pity on him and fed him leftovers free of charge.
He vowed to pay her back and after getting the right info from her, he set out to make money from the only way he knew how: riding MTBs. He eventually made his way up in the ranks as someone with X-zone level talent, and after winning enough prize money he came back to the small town to fulfill his vow.
At that point she'd been watching his progress in the news as his fame rose and had come to admire him and his character quite a bit so they got together.
As for his canon brilliance in giving powerful bikes to young kids... I'm pretty sure the in-universe explanation is that this is due to them being the most talented and skilled riders around by sheer coincidence, with the added possibility that these ended up being the only people the bikes and their particular powers were compatible with.
I'm gonna add my own headcanon to it tho: Takeshi purposely may have chosen kids because they'd still have room to grow on top of their existing talent, unlike adults who'd more likely already be at their peak and potentially be on the decline. Given the kind of foes and challenges they'd face, maybe younger riders were preferable since they could adapt and learn better.
