Iâm not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but you literally do not have to be a good writer to write and post fan fiction. Yes you will naturally get better at writing and finding your voice the more you do it but you do not have to be or become a professional level writer to enjoy writing and sharing fics. Itâs common to hear people praise fic writers by saying their work is better than published books, and while I think this comes from a good place, thatâs not the norm or expectation. There is also a sentiment that fic writing is âgood practiceâ for becoming a better writer or doing something else later, but if fic is the only creative writing you ever do that is literally okay. Your technical skill does not mean you cannot have fun and build community with your writing, or that other people cannot love and find meaning in your work.
We fed Dean Winchester one crumb of wokeness and he died in the night
alternately: we fed Dean Winchester one crumb of wokeness and she
John is not a monster, not a villain, not a Saint, but he did leave a 10 and a 6 year old alone for 4 days and got mad at the ten year old when things went sideways. He doesn't want his children to get hurt but he's been sending them on cases to fight vicious monsters and using them as bait. He trained them in self defence but didn't tell them anything about vampires or demons or almost any kind of monster so they couldn't really defend themselves. He gave his life for Dean but didn't so much as react when Sam called him to tell him Dean was dying. Allegedly he's the best hunter but he gets taken down in every fight and needs rescue. He's teary-eyed in almost every scene he's in but he had a fallout with almost everyone in his past. He loves his children but is prepared to kill one and abandon or send away the other if he thinks it's the right call. He seems to care a lot more about his dead wife but their marriage wasn't perfect until after she died.
I'm mostly familiar with your destiel art, but I see you've ventured into HR too! I'd love to know more about your process. I remember seeing your art for Angel's Wild and being blown away. Was it daunting taking on such a big commission? How do you go from idea to finished piece?
Omg hello!!!! Thank you so much!!! Ngl Angel's Wild was,, well, wildđ it was more like,, everyone knew itd take a while to complete than daunting. If im not forgetting something, it was 8 illustrations and a bunch of sketches? So it was a lot!
The thing that was hilarious about AW was that i, like, i assume, many artists, hate drawing feet. And yet, cas was barefoot in every single one of those illustrations. Sometimes dean too. So that was fun!
Im adding my process for one of the AW pieces under a cut cause thats a lot toođ Also adding a video at the end!
Ohhh, this is SO cool to see. Thank you for sharing all of this!
I love seeing how much changes between the rough draft stage and the final piece, and also how much thought goes into composition before you ever get to the painting-over-everything stage. The final art already blew me away, but seeing the process makes me appreciate it even more. đđ
Only just occurred to me that their reactions here implies that alternate!dean is the better Rock, Paper, Scissors player
a work in progress of a scene from chapter seven of come alive in the heat by @sicksicksixx because this fic has literally taken up residence in my brain fulltime âď¸đŹ
I hope you like this slightly whimsical, slightly creepy Cryptid!Castiel piece!
In my head, Castiel is kind of like the patron saint of hunters in this AU. Dean regularly comes to visit him, leaving little offerings, lighting candles, and praying for protection before heading back out into the world. I don't know... I just love the idea of their relationship having this almost mythical, reverent quality to it. đ

dean really said "personal space" and then cass deployed the wings
these sam lines from 1.11 Scarecrow have always struck me as such a cruel thing to say (and i know dean forgave him immediately because heâs a sweetheart but i was put on this earth to hold deanâs grudges for him and holding this one i am) even though i get they were coming from a place of heightened emotion. itâs just, only two episodes since 1.09, when dean admits to sam for the first time ever that maryâs death haunts him so badly he swore to himself heâd never go back to lawrence again⌠just feels disproportionately mean.
but on this rewatch itâs the lines before it that hit me:
sam is an obvious john mirror starting as early as 1.01. itâs not particularly subtle, and the show definitely wants you to pick up on it. itâs not just the similarities in their storylines, ie. losing their partners to the same entity; itâs in their natures. their tendencies toward fanaticism, toward obsession. the driving force behind what keeps both of them hunting in s1 is revenge.
the common fanon misconception is that s1 dean is the one who wants to find john the most, that he has an unchallenged and uncritical devotion to his father, that he hunts because heâs trying to emulate john, that heâd do anything john tells him to. and yes, heâs on this hunt in 1.11 because john contacted them for the first time in months and ordered them work this job. but what weâve been shown for most of the season is dean leading sam on hunts under the weight of johnâs total radio silence, helping people because itâs the right thing to do, and not really looking especially hard for john at all after 1.02. in fact, in that very episode, sam wants to abandon the hunt (and the people theyâve started helping) when the trail to john goes cold, and itâs dean who has to convince him to stay and rescue everyone.
itâs like dean says above. whatâs most important to him isnât the revenge quest sam and john are on, even though weâve been shown and told time and time again in just eleven episodes that he feels maryâs loss so keenly it still actively hurts, still controls actions he does or does not take, is still a pain he carries with him 22 years later. and of course he does want to find justice for her. but whatâs most important to him is saving people. he isnât obsessed with punishing something for her loss, heâs trying to prevent loss like that from happening to other people. thatâs a large part of what he took away from maryâs death. of course he knows how sam feels; sam doesnât know how dean feels.
