A Brand New Life - Panama Wedding
Digging this new Panama Wedding track off of their upcoming EP ‘Into Focus’, which comes out on 11/6. Check out my previous interview with Panama Wedding here!
Don’t Run - Bad Veins
Even though the title of this song defies the basic principle of my life (to run!), really digging this throwback (does 2012 count as throwback) as of late. ‘Don’t Run’ is off of Bad Veins’ album ‘The Mess We’ve Made’. Definitely reminiscent of a lot of the alternative music I used to listen to in high school (Valencia, The Dangerous Summer, Sherwood, etc.). Such memories!
Exiles - Third Eye Blind
Even though Third Eye Blind has conjured up a slew of new songs in their latest album ‘Dopamine’, the band has managed to retain their 90s and 2000s sound and style that I’ve so adored. I was really disappointed that I missed them touring with Dashboard Confessional this summer because I was in Brazil. But good news for me and other disappointed souls: Third Eye Blind will be at Amoeba SF on 11/28 for an acoustic set from ‘Dopamine’! Mark your calendars, I know I already have :)
Take It Or Leave It - Great Good Fine Ok
I’d argue that Great Good Fine Ok has been one of my favorite finds in the last few years. So glad I had the chance to interview them and see them live twice, they’re pretty damn awesome guys. Excited to see what this year will bring for this dynamic duo!
Lonesome Tonight - New Order
This isn’t the official music video for this fantastic, timeless track, but I recently heard a cover of New Order’s ‘Lonesome Tonight’ that reminded me how much I absolutely love New Order. I love how New Order can be such an old band that continually puts out amazing records with little alteration to their sound. Definitely want to get the ‘Power, Corruption & Lies’ vinyl for my room haha
Young Blood - Saint Raymond
For once, I’ve found a song where I actually enjoy the original more than the RAC remix. Some wonderful UK indie pop coming your way. Saint Raymond, otherwise known as Callum Burrows, is most definitely an up and coming artist in the indiestry. At only 19 years old, Saint Raymond has already opened for the likes of artists such as Ed Sheeran, HAIM, etc. Keep your eyes open and ears peeled!
Highway Patrol Stun Gun - Youth Lagoon
Ahhh have been missing Youth Lagoon from my life!! Really haven’t listened to them since 2011 with ‘The Year of Hibernation’. And boy does it seem like they have been in hibernation. Buuuut their upcoming album ‘Savage Hills Ballroom’ comes out 9/25! This song holds such high hopes for the rest of the album. The music video is absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure I fully understand it, but I think it’s about a dude with schizophrenia. Either way, definitely recommend giving this song a listen. Youth Lagoon seems to be taking a new direction with this new track, and I’m really liking it.
Gibraltar - Beirut
Lovelovelove this new video for ‘Gibraltar’ off of Beirut’s upcoming album ‘No No No’, set to be released 9/11. Beirut never fails to disappoint
Boy From School - ON AN ON (Hot Chip Cover)
I feel like covers are usually quite different from originals, as the artist applies its own style to the song. But I honestly thing that ON AN ON’s version of ‘Boy From School’ is pretty damn similar to Hot Chip’s. Even the vocals are strikingly similar. I like it, but wish ON AN ON had tried harder to come up with something more original and stylistically unique.
Candleholder - Monomyth
Another one of my tune obsessions as of late. I really want to get a ‘Saturnalia Regalia!’ vinyl for my newly received record player, courtesy of one of my best friends :) Excited to go vinyl shopping, kinda already know what I want my first vinyl to be haha.
“Commiserate” by Missing Sibling. Fuzzy, melodic noise pop from Texas. Just getting around to clearing out my inbox of submissions. Check out these new bands!
My Car - Tear Council
Maybe I’m biased because I just started working at a car company, but I am currently absolutely in love with this song. Bonus like for this song because it was co-produced by Matt Van Schie of Van She. Love the synthpop indie feel, definitely an incredible drive track. Soooo smooth.
In other news, just signed a lease for my new apartment in San Francisco! Stay tuned for details of Indy Cindie hopefully coming to a Bay Area station near you :)
Lover’s Game - Geographer
Geographer never gets old
Fired Up - Titus Andronicus
Remember when Kip Berman of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart recommended Titus Andronicus to us when I interviewed him last year? ‘Fired Up’ is off of Titus Andronicus’s newest album, ‘The Most Lamentable Tragedy’, which was just released at the end of July. Titus Andronicus will be in San Francisco on 9/29 at The Chapel. Check out the new album, it’s pretty awesome!
Time Machine - Darwin Deez
Yusss, new Darwin Deez to close out this amazing summer. ‘Time Machine’ is a track off of his upcoming album ‘Double Down’, set to come out on 9/18!
Last Forever - Fenech-Soler (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Always okay with a remix from The Chainsmokers since they still owe me an interview ;) Been listening to some of my older playlists this month on my way to work. Rediscovered ‘Last Forever’ from Fenech-Soler, an English indie pop group. Hadn’t heard The Chainsmokers remix of ‘Last Forever’ until recently, but I dig it!
Come With Me - Nora En Pure (DBMM Remix)
This song recently came on in a spin class I did in Brazil and I was hooked. I blame my lack of up to date knowledge on current music trends on being in Brazil the last month. But guess what! I just moved back to San Francisco, so back in the music scene, fresh and ready :)
