Sinegard trio in a nutshell:
Before episode nine airs, I just want to say that I support Joel Miller’s rights. And also his wrongs.
“It’s okay, baby girl, I got you.”
Current mood
mood. and alternatively:
in kung fu panda, po is the dragon warrior because unlike tai lung and tigress, he worked customer service and won't become tyrannical with power
This is the master interpretation
the line “your worst sin is that you’ve betrayed and destroyed yourself for nothing” is so raw you’d think it’s from a destiel fanfic or even hetalia but it’s actually from dostoyevskys crime and punishment
It really is so raw I would expect it to be from sw fanfic
This is by far the funniest thing to ever come out of the Kenobi show, the entire thing was worth it just for this
You don’t understand, I can’t process this reunion
The last time we saw them together they looked like this
they were just joking, y’all. they are still besties
I don't think you understand that I'm FUCKING CRYING
me before the Kenobi series: yeah flashbacks of the clone wars would be amazing but I would love to see more of padawan!Anakin, we've had so little content with him
me after episode 5: how DARE they give me padawan!Anakin? as if I can handle it? as if I can function like a normal human being after that? without thinking about his charming little smile every day of the week? about his cute face? about OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN SPARRING AND TEASINGINGLY PUSHING EACH OTHER WHILE BEING BACK TO BACK? that was just mean and uncalled for
tfw someone mentions your hyperfixation <3
What stage of capitalism are we in?
Fun fact! This problem is also much bigger than it needs to be because babies were exploited for profit.
From a health perspective, human breast milk is by far the healthiest thing to give your baby and if you can’t produce enough of it or you aren’t always around and can’t save enough by pumping, it is still good to breast feed sometimes to keep milk production going so your baby gets some actual breast milk.
Formula is important because not everyone can breast feed. Formula is useful because breast feeding and pumping can be painful or a bother and it’s nice to be able to take a break from it every now and then. Formula is good.
But companies have been pushing using baby formula for every baby and pushing it as a complete alternative for people who could also do some breast feeding. They want people to stop breast feeding entirely and become dependent on their product instead, because dependency = profit.
This includes misinformation campaigns to make people doubt the quality of their own breast milk, which is WILD because breast milk is objectively so much better than formula. A lot of that misinformation happened decades ago but its impact still lingers in communities and has changed how people view breast mil and formula.
The result of all this misleading advertising is that a lot of people who could have breast fed, have chosen to stop entirely and as a result have stopped being able to breast feed. So now that there’s a shortage, they don’t have anything to feed their baby. They could have had a free, high quality supply, but instead a company tricked them into an unnecessary dependency on their product, and then that product ran out.
While a lot of this isn’t wrong, I really think that we need to push back on the idea that breast milk is by any means free.
Breast milk is not even free in the sense of ‘not costing anything.’ Breast milk requires calories, vitamins, nutrition. There’s a reason why even WIC gives breastfeeding parents more nutrition. IDK what it is now, but back in the day as a breastfeeding parent I got carrots, extra milk, and tuna fish, because even government programs which are notorious at underestimating what people actually need to survive, let alone thrive, recognize that breast milk is not by any means free. It doesn’t come out of the ether, it is produced by a body which converts food into other food. Breastfeeding parents need to eat more food and drink more liquid, which means they need more clean and safe liquids to drink, they need more protein, they need more iron, they need more everything, because the process of producing breast milk requires protein and liquid and vitamins to go into the breast milk, and requires protein and liquid to fuel the parent’s body for the process of producing and delivering that milk.
Breast milk is only free if you don’t value the work of breastfeeding parents: the time that it takes to pump or feed, the fact that breastfeeding creates a schedule that a body has to adhere to because the body begins to understand 'I have to produce this much food at this time’, creating an obligation of time from that parent compared to the other. Breast milk is only free if you don’t value that labor, which, like, clearly as a culture we do not.
None of which undoes the fact that promoting formula-feeding over breastfeeding was in fact pushed as the 'civilized’ choice over the past century. Like, yes, there was definitely and still is propaganda that you only breastfed if you were a lower-class person who couldn’t afford the more scientifically-advanced option of formula, that breastfeeding will 'ruin’ your breasts and body, etc. etc. All of that is true.
But. Breastfeeding is not free, and we need to stop saying it is free. It is not. That is not a word that should ever be used in relation to breastfeeding under any circumstances. If you wish to say that breastfeeding does not require you to go out and buy a single, specified product from a corporation, then say that, but do not say that breastfeeding is free. When @mistresskabooms was an infant, I literally could not be away from her for more than two hours without stopping to pump or otherwise express milk, because my body became tuned to how much food she needed and if I didn’t stop and express milk, well, I’d fucking overflow wherever I was. I had an obligation to her which my co-parents did not have, and an inability to be away from her which my co-parents did not have. That was labor which deserves to be recognized and understood and never, not even briefly, brushed over or relegated to “free” or “valueless.”
