The fact that so many people across the last couple hundred years (at least) have collected at various competitions to show off their chickens and earn awards for the best chickens at the poultry show would beg to differ, I think.

I’m so scared for Zeina’s father. His family keeps finding him unconscious on the ground, terrified that he has died from starvation. This winter, the lack of medication and food has kept him near death, unable to stabilize or recover. He was hospitalized again for severe anemia and was released the day before yesterday. Today he told me his kidney hurts, and that every moment his body is in agonizing pain that he cannot endure much longer.

Zeina’s father needs to get to a better-resourced hospital to treat his injuries from the Israeli bombing of his home. Tens of thousands of people like him require urgent medical evacuation from Gaza for injuries and illness, and hundreds have already died while waiting for Israel’s permission to leave. Now Israel is using the war with Iran to justify closing all crossings. Please donate so he can survive until the crossings reopen. Donate so he can afford to travel and get proper treatment.

Whenever the crossings are closed, the imposed scarcity causes the prices of food and medicine in Gaza to surge. Last week a bag of flour was $80. Now it has already surged to $200. This past legislative session it’s “only” been reversion of legal ID and banning of gender affirming care for minors. What will it be next legislative session?
