This ... Is a modern take and is completely inaccurate given the context of other shows at the time.

Almost every sitcom in the 50s and 60s, and for a while after, had a husband who was devoted to his wife and a wife who didn't resent her husband. This was the idealized world that TV represented.

The Addams family was not unique or noteworthy for having these aspects. What made them noteworthy was that they were a band of freaks who *still* managed to have that idealized existence.

That's what makes the Addams Family special.
