btw something that really hit me regarding video game violence and how we barely register it was during my playthroughs of disco elysium.
so the first time I played, for various reasons I didn’t have any weapons, because all of them are optional. so when a shootout happened, the only thing I could do was try to talk the enemies down, which didn’t go over great, and a bunch of people died. when afterwards I commented on how badly it went, my companion agreed, saying that regrettably a such and such number of people died - I don’t remember how many it was rn, but a specific number was given.
because of that, on a replay, I was determined to do better, and got myself a weapon. the confrontation still happened and there were still casualties, but I was able to save a few characters by killing or distracting their attackers. however, when I got to that follow-up conversation with the tallying up of the dead, the number I was given was almost as high, and that gave me a pause. I was like, wait! but this and this and this person is still alive, why is that number so high?! and it actually took me a few seconds to realise that the number is so high because of the enemies we killed to protect our allies, but the game made no distinction; it was still “regrettably, eight people died”. and the thing is, I didn’t even for a second consider that; in fact, a video game treating the (arguably justified) death of an “enemy” npc as a tragic loss equal to the death of a “friendly” npc was so unheard of and surprising to me that I had to take a considerable amount of time to process it and realise what was actually happening with that dialogue. and I still think about it sometimes.
nobody’s gonna talk abt Fortiche’s being sooo good in facial expressions? cause this is a masterpiece
and the change happened in seconds, let me remind you

the large portion of the AOT fan base who genuinely think Eren committing mass genocide is a good ending worry me

alright since I swear I’m the only one who read the books recently but Jasnah didn’t suggest genocide?? She suggested killing the Heralds and when Kaladin objected she said the only other alternative was to kill every Singer in order to stress that killing a couple of heralds was the most logical choice.. “In the face of such atrocity, I’d consider sacrificing some heralds to be a small price” it’s the trolley problem and jasnah is a-okay with sacrificing the few to save the many. “The answer is obvious.... we find the heralds and kill them” is very different from the “hey genocide seems like a good/viable idea” that a lot of y’all seem to claim she said
my crackpot theory on Vasher/Zahel and Vivenna/Azure being on Roshar is that when they were traveling together, Nightblood went out of control and almost killed Vivenna (hence her scars) and Vasher was so horrified bc history was repeating itself (Nightblood kill a woman ((that he loves)) while under his watch) that he fled to Roshar and got rid of Nightblood. Vivenna’s looking for him and Nightblood to both keep Nightblood out of dangerous hands and also patch things up with Vasher but he’s been such a tit that she’s hella annoyed by now. Vasher’s on Roshar bc easy Investiture but also bc he still feels obligated to be near Nightblood

this guys videos are fucking incredible i really want everyone to watch them
this man is like midas but with knives instead of gold, he can make anything a knife, sicssor knives ,ice knives, cardboard knives, tiny knives if it can be made into a knife he will do it, and if he cant, he will do it anyway because fuck you
This doesn’t even have the best one. One time he made a knife out of ravioli then proceeded to use the knife made out of ravioli to cut up cheese and tomatoes and basil and shit then took the ravioli knife that he had used to cut up his other ingredients and cooked said knife with those ingredients and ate the fucking knife!
ate the fucking knife
nah, his best one? he made a knife out of smoke.
You know how to sharpen smoke? this guy does.
Let’s not forget everything else in his videos.
The googly eyes he puts on things
His cow jugs
The empty fridge that only contains Jack Daniels Chocolate
That one time a bear figurine possessed with a demon would attack him if he didn’t pet it so he had to build a machine that constantly rolled the bear against brushes so he would be safe long enough to finish the knife
