idk guys i just think given how smart ilya is spending his time in anglophile countries and relentlessly practicing english for 10 years for any kind of social interaction save a few exception, he probably would be very fluent and in the earlier years would be speaking quite formally (his tuitions in moscow would not focus on slang) what is more likely to happen is that he finds himself not upto date on russian popculture or literature because he has so few people to discuss it with, on his trips back to moscow he would not understand the new teenage slang and feel his mothertongue slipping away, foriegn and unaccomodating
