little Morro X Ivy fluff I wrote instead of being productive
Morro gently connects our lips in a tender kiss, shocking me into a frozen state. His cold ghostly hands cup my face while my heart thumps against my rib cage like a drum.
He pulls back just slightly, peeling apart our lips to give me a wondrous look. “Wow,” he whispers, drawing his thumb over my cheek. I subconsciously lean into the touch, my face hot under his touch and my wide eyes fixed on him. He hesitates for a second. “Was that…okay?”
I pause, glancing away and pressing my lips together. After a moment, I give a tiny, embarrassed nod.
I can practically feel his smile. He leans a little closer, so close I can feel his cold breath on my cheek. “Can I…do it again?”
I glance up, my cheeks still hot, but give him another tiny nod.
He beams, but his eyes are soft. The sight makes my heart skip a beat as he leans in and takes my lips with his own once more. This time, a little more prepared for the sensation, I slowly return the kiss, copying what he does. My hands automatically rise from where they had been at my sides to rest on his ribs, my eyes slipping shut slowly.
The kiss isn’t desperate or needy like in books; it’s soft, slow, and sweet, like we’re trying to memorize the feeling; the taste. He’s so painfully gentle with me that it makes my heart throb; he almost seems reverent, as if I’m something to be treasured. No one’s ever treated me like this before. No one’s ever looked at me with that same tender care in their gaze, that pure, vulnerable care.
Morro’s body grows suddenly colder and, for a moment, he seems to forget he needs to keep himself solid. His body disappears under my hands and his lips phase through mine, causing both of us to stumble. He pulls away with a small smile and a painfully sad glitter in his eyes, focusing back on keeping himself solid so he can gently brush a lock of hair behind my ear. “You need to go,” he murmurs, his voice soft and pained.
“You need to leave. You can’t stay here,” he says again, his voice a little stronger this time as he pulls away from me completely.
My hands hover in the empty air where he was a second ago, closing slowly. “M-Morro~” my eyes are wide and bewildered as I look at him. He has to avert his gaze. “You can’t just…d-do THAT and then tell me to leave.”
“I just did,” he states firmly, glancing back at me. The sadness is gone from his eyes, masked by strictness.
I gape at him stupidly. He turns to walk away.
The shadows snicker and hiss quietly in the back of my mind as I follow after him. “Morro, wait—“
“You don’t belong here. You can’t keep coming back.”
“You’ve said yourself that you like seeing me. You kissed me, Morro.”
He stops, and I follow suit, staying slightly behind him. “Ivy, coming here…it’s holding you back. I’m holding you back.”
“Ivy.” He turns to look at me, his green eyes shining with pain. “This place isn’t for the living. Everything here is dead. Nothing here—“
“That’s not true,” I insist. I can feel my eyes growing wet with unshed tears as I stare up at him.
His face contorts with pain. “It is. You know it is.”
“Morro, you’re the only thing that keeps me moving forward,” I blurt out suddenly, hands clenched into fists at my sides. I can feel a tear run down my cheek but, for once, I don’t care. “You’re the reason I think any of this is worth it, Morro. The one thing that makes my life worth living. You’re the best and practically the only good thing to ever happen to me. I was never happy until I met you. You can’t make me leave.” I’m yelling now. Another two years roll down my cheeks.
Morro is staring at me with wide eyes, his jaw slack. He looks away, clearing his throat and trying to pull himself together. “Ivy, I’m dead.”
“You’re not dead, Morro,” I insist, my eyes alight with determination and pain. “Your body may be, but you’re not.”
Morro freezes, before running a hand through his shoulder length silky black locks and letting out a breathy chuckle. He steps closer slowly. “Stop saying things like that. It makes me want to kiss you.”
I sniffle and giggle softly, wiping away my tears and turning away my face. “…I won’t apologize for saying it.”
“I know.” His voice is soft again. “I don’t want you to.” He reaches toward me as if he wants to touch my face, and I step forward to take his hand but he pulls away before I can. “This doesn’t change the fact that we can’t—“
“We can, Morro. You already showed me that.” I insist, reaching for him again.
“…we shouldn’t.” Morro’s hand twitches but he doesn’t stop me from taking it, his eyes tracing our now joined hands. “You…you deserve better.”
I glance away shyly. “I don’t want anyone else.”
I feel his eyes return to me, unbearably soft. He finally seems to give up trying to push me away and suddenly grabs me, yanking me against his chest and wrapping his chilly arms around me. I squeak in surprise but wrap my arms around his torso slowly, feeling him press a soft kiss to the top of my head.
“Dang it, Ivy,” he mumbles into my hair, causing me to chuckle. His arms around me tighten slightly. “Youre trouble.” He pauses. “Not that I mind…”
I laugh softly against his chest. “I’m glad.”
Me and Morro are laying in the grass by the well, his arm around me and my head on his chest, watching the fog roll around the moons. Eventually, he shifts, apparently bored with our current position, and rolls on top of me, nuzzling his face into the crook of my neck. I giggle as I feel his breath on my skin.
I can feel him smirk playfully. “Sensitive there, huh?”
My face burns with heat. “That’s not what I meant—“
He lets out a laugh. I can feel his ghostly body shake on top of me. He’s much lighter than a human, so it doesn’t bother me. “Or was it?” He teases.
I gently fold my arms over his back. “It wasn’t,” I state firmly, though I can’t keep the smile from my lips. His hair brushes against my cheek as he heaves a sigh.
“Boring.” He hums. I snicker before we lapse into comfortable silence for a few minutes. I’m content to just lay there with him, unmoving and quiet.
Eventually, it begins to appear that he is not.
He nuzzles a little further into my neck and carefully nibbles my skin, causing me to squeal suddenly in surprise, my face growing hot as abruptly as a spark turning to flame. “Morro-!!!! What the~?!?!”
He cackles against my skin. “What? You weren’t giving me attention.”
“YOURE LITERALLY ON TOP OF ME,” I laugh.
“You weren’t moving or talking. For all I know you could’ve been asleep.”
“So you decide to bite me?!”
“It wasn’t a bite. It was a tiny little nibble.” I can feel him grinning against my neck.
I roll my eyes. “Whatever. You’re ridiculous.”
“Love you too, sweetheart,” he hums playfully, which causes my blush to deepen.
He laughs again. “You’re so sweet.” He emphasizes his words with another playful nip, and I squeal again and push on him.
He laughs and rolls off of me with a mischievous grin. “Adorable.”
I give him a shove. “Stoooooop.” I can’t help but giggle despite myself.
“Stop what? I’m not doing anything.” He says innocently, shooting me a smirk from his place beside me. It makes my heart skip a beat. His black hair is spread around him on the ground like a dark halo, and his green eyes shine in the darkness.
I sigh and roll my eyes at him with a blush. “You totally are.”
He grins. “Just being my usual charming self, darling.”
