“You don’t find love, it finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars.”
— Anaïs Nin
Hey Friday. Let's be inspired: "It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!” It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments." by Oriah Mountain Dreamer #iamfoolinlove #hopelessromantic
Closed doors
"You cant see the moment when she closed the door behind you.
A blissful future slipping down the drain while you are embriagated in your new found freedom. And she closed the door behind you. Not because she doesn't want you, no,she yearns for you like flowers need air, sun and water. Words cant do justice to the feelings she's hidden, avoided, neglected so that you could be free.
Although she loves you unconditionally, she shut the door behind you. As usual, you didn't care; you were too busy playing games to notice, blinded by the screaming infidelities you wont admit happened because there were too many extra drops of alcohol, too many cheeky lines, maybe some laughs and an overall debauchery to cover up your guilt...She is not giving up on you, she is extending you an opportunity to show her once that you care. She is waiting on the floor feeling so helpless and naive while you lay on the couch at the other side of the door, kissing the new girl, removing her clothes. She can hear the drinks being poured, the laughs, the screams. She bursts into tears. You wont run after her, call or even message; in fact, you want her to know how quickly you replace her.You kicked her out with the triangles 382 times and all you can see is that she closed the door behind you...
A door neither of you will reach" You love her not and that's okay. Not everyone has good taste. Nor a woman's worth is defined by a man's ability to see it.
I’ve got a bunch of feelings, dozens of bottles of alcohol and no one who cares enough to share them with “I could start fires with what I fee for you ” Game over.
Real men express their feelings. No games, just purely, sincerely and to the point. I fell in love with football as a teenager watching Real Madrid play. Although my first love (and boyfriend) was a goalkeeper, I only understood their impact on a team and a match through Casillas. I'm saddened by his departure, as my beloved team gets further away from what it used to be... Grande @ikercasillasoficial Perdona que te haya abandonado cuando mas me necesitaste. Eres una persona estupendisima. Gracias por tanto! #Iker5m #UnaVida #halamadrid #legend #number1#guayabo
"We accept the love we think we deserve" unless you are like some people I know and YOU chase the love you've ever dreamed of and work towards making the other person see how wonderful it could be, spreading it albeit subtlety from within. What does it have to do with the #arepa? You'll ask... Well, the love for my country influences who I am and the arepa being an all times favorite of #Venezuelans has the power to make even the worst day ever into a happy one like a warm hug from the stomach to the heart ♥. Hence, if a Venezuelan makes you an arepita, you know they care for you 🙈😊 #teamovenezuela #thelatinquartersg #matandoantojo #matandoasaudade (at The LATIN QUARTER - OCBC Centre)
How you become legendary
"The key, though, win or lose, is to never fail.
And the only way to fail is not to fight. So you fight until you can't fight anymore. Hold up your head and enter the arena and face the enemy. Fight until you can't fight anymore. Never let go. Never give up. Never run. Never surrender. Fight the good fight. Even when it seems inevitable... That you're about to go down swinging.
Why do we even try, when the barriers are so high and the odds are so low? Why don’t we just pack it in and go home? It’d be so, so much easier. It’s because in the end, there’s no glory in easy. No one remembers easy. They remember the blood, and the bones, and the long, agonizing fight to the top.
And that is how you become legendary.”
~Amelia Shepherd, Grey's Anatomy season 11, episode 14 (The Distance)
Exactly one month ago I was being awaken by this beautiful view after passing out on the boat from Tawau island. It was my first glance of Mabul. I was smiling in awe, thinking I must have arrived to paradise. Little did I know how much love was going to be released from within me in the days to come. Being at SMART was pure bliss. I am forever grateful for the time I spent there and the beautiful people that became my family 👪 for the 10 days of my peaceful stay resonating with the universe. Even before starting my duties as Miss Scuba Venezuela, I convinced a tourist to try scuba diving. He used to practice snorkeling and free diving yet it didn't take him long to learn the benefits of staying underwater for prolonged times and he loved scuba so much I was just happy to see his enjoyment. I can't recommend this place enough. The more I think of it, the fonder I grow of SMART and my memories of it. Love ♥ at first sight indeed. Beautiful magic. (at Mabul Water Bungalow (SMART))
Women vs Ocean: why we are alike.
Here is a story of self-appreciation and how we can compare women to the ocean. Beware: a lot of rawness in here.
Coming from the country of the most beautiful women in the world, I grew up dreaming to be a beauty queen. It’s something vastly instilled in our culture to tell our little girls they will be the next Miss Universe if they are pretty. With years I noticed I wasn’t growing tall enough and gave up on it. Last year I was invited to join Miss Scuba International, not the typical beauty pageant but a way to promote a great cause: saving the ocean. If you know me a little, you know I have spent my life trying to find a purpose that serves a bigger cause and how much I care for the protection of the environment. You may also be aware of my lust for new life experiences. Hence, I joined.
Truth be told, I didn’t think I had a chance at it and I didn’t tell my friends I was doing it until they started seeing photos on Social Media once the contest was running. I didn’t want to deal with the pressure. I didn’t go on a diet or a training program. Moreover, most of the contestants had won the national competition in their countries while I was directly appointed to the international edition so I was feeling like I didn’t deserved to be there. I don’t even have my own crown!! Then, I started to meet them and noticed they had sponsors who prepared them and gave them all the clothing/gear we needed. I felt somehow in huge disadvantage. Besides, they were all so beautiful that I couldn’t help but ask myself what on Earth I was possibly thinking when I joined. After all, everyone is expecting Miss Venezuela to be a stunning perfect woman and I didn’t want them to be disappointed. See, I have always considered myself pretty but I never truly believed I was that beautiful (or as beautiful as other girls). It’s hard to explain the reasons behind it. Although I usually draw a lot of attention from the boys, I have never felt like the girl they would leave everything for. Moreover, I think all men are inherently douche bags that only want to get in your pants and throw you away, so having loads of them around means nothing to me in terms of measuring my good looks.
To most people that knows me, I am the most resilient person they know: I could wipe the floor clean with others and leave them begging for mercy if I want to. That is true but only an act of self-defence, which will leave me feeling as a horrible human being. I guess I’ve mask a bit of insecurities behind my strong personality without never realizing it. If you really know me, though, you know how sentimental I could be despite my strength and courage. More often than not, I cry inside like a champion; but I also cry endlessly hiding in my room like an abandoned puppy if I’m hurt (which I hate, because I’m supposed to be strong and cold-hearted).
As divers, we get to truly experience the beauty of the oceans: its pristine waters, diverse fauna and colourful flora. Marine life comes in every shape, size and colour. There are so many different species all unique yet absolutely beautiful in their own way. Just like the girls sharing with me at Miss Scuba International. Getting to know them and seeing how many of them do not feel as stunning as I see they are, made me realize woman are like marine life: it doesn’t matter how tall, short, skinny or voluptuous we are, what makes us beautiful are the unique features we have both in our bodies as in our personalities. Specially our personalities. Trying to fit a woman in a stereotype of “beauty” is ultimately reductionist. In fact, having conceptualised ideas of how anything needs to be has caused more damaged than good to our society. We must teach our daughters, nieces, friends, to love themselves and do their own things without caring to please anyone. We must be like sharks: often misunderstood, they never stop to think about whether other fish or people are scared at them and they continue to be the magnificent, independent, animals they are.
I may have not won any titles at Miss Scuba International and to those who think I lost, I feel sorry for you. The things I gained can’t be bought or put in a suitcase: First, I learned to dive and my graduation was at the best diving place in the world (literally ranked number 1). Second, I spent the most amazing 2 weeks of my life and the memories will remain in my thoughts forever. Third, I have made amazing friends with the most beautiful young women in the world. I’ve never got along with female as well as I do with male. The past 2 weeks felt like girl’s camp and I loved every minute of it. I might want to send my future daughter(s) to girls’ school now. It was liberating to have conversations we wouldn’t normally have in front of the guys. Ultimately, I have learned a lot about myself and the way I take care of my appearance. I think I have finally accepted I am beautiful and worth being admired for it. I feel more comfortable in my skin and more likely to do things such as untangling my hair every morning not because of vanity but because it shows I take care of myself. Don’t worry, I would still refuse to wear makeup on a daily basis ;). Being always my transparent (genuine) self and just aiming to learn from the experience as opposed to compete, made people to actually find me hilarious and lovely, so I’m more confident know that I don’t have to ever act in a certain way to fit in because right people will be attracted to me when I do my own thing.
I’m not sure whether a bit more confidence in myself would have got me a better place in the competition or what I should have done differently. I don’t even think about it for I am genuinely happy for all the winners and the selected queen is the perfect girl for the role. I hope at the very least I make my country proud by showing how fun and optimistic we Venezuelans are. One thing I know for sure is how forever grateful I am for all the steps I took and the wonderful people life put on my way to lead me here Today. From the friends who believe in me when I don’t, to Miss Scuba International organizers Grace, Mr Robert Lo and the wonderful staff at SMART(aka Paradise); the loving David Douglas, my dear scubarettes, my wonderful dive instructor Roonie and even Mr belly button (our eye candy aka papacito), the experience would have not been the same without any of you. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Probably because I am a woman and not a girl (haha, bad joke).
To you who are reading this: It isn’t easy to wear my heart on my sleeve. Not many people do. Yet it is liberating and I think you should try it…. Now, please take care of your women as much as your oceans; they are both endangered.
And if you happened to be a pageant girl, here is something you have probably never heard from your advisers: have fun and try to be yourself!!! No award in the world compares to great memories nor friendship. You can be perfect on every single thing and do it right on every single step but if you are mean to people around you, chances are you won’t get far. And then you would have lost twice. I have heard many stories of beauty pageant horror but I learned it takes 2 people to fight and if you show respect and kindness, people will respond to you accordingly. Don’t be a pageant diva, be a queen of hearts.
Wishing you loads of Peace, Love and Good Music in your life <3 while I wear my invisible crown,
Kyky
"Mia San Mia"
Have you noticed how most of deep conversations happen around the sunrise hours?
Here we were, my perpetual challenge-seeker self and my young serial entrepreneur friend, talking about life and success after a long night of party and a month of perpetual sleep deprivation while we awaited to catch the sunrise. Among all the lessons any other entrepreneur or successful person can tell, I would like to highlight the one phrase that stuck in my mind.
"Mia san mia" is Bavarian for "we are we" meaning "we are who we are". The phrase was made popular by F.C. Bayern Munich and defines their motto, their philosophy, as the key-to-success for the great German club. The reason is simple: they set themselves to succeed. They do not care about who they are playing against, they go and play their hearts out on every match, giving their best because they are really passionate about it and want to be the best. Moreover, they book the main square in Munich to celebrate the victory even before they start playing the season. The hunger for glory, for excellence, is in their bones and soul. Thus, they won't allow doubts to defeat them nor others to deflate you.
I think everyone should apply this to their lives and see the beautiful magic happen: trusting your skills and being determined to achieve your goals; knowing you will succeed, although sometimes it may take longer than expected. Every experience is part of the preparation for that moment of glory. Embrace it, take advantage. There will always be someone to give you a shoulder tap when you least expect it. Believe!
Being a foreigner from Venezuela
"I really wish I had the freedom to live in the same country as my family, have our own lives but still get to see each other every Sunday for lunch or any day we wanted to; to be only a drive away, to be close enough to miss them in a healthy manner... But this is the reality of my generation, not by choice but by survival, we have family and friends all over the world yet we don't have a country where we can fulfill our dreams without the fear of being kidnapped, robbed, killed or were we celebrate our culture together where it belongs rather than always having to adapt like a chameleon to other cultures. To be a foreigner is my generations blessing and it is also our sorrow" Ana Beatriz D'Arthenay
Yesterday, while we were sleeping in this part of the world, the violent government supporters irrupted inside a University in Venezuela. They burned it down, they attacked the students inside their classrooms. It was a massacre. It is against logic and Human Rights. National media being censored as it is didnt broadcast anything on the news. It was as it never happened. I cant even know how many deaths and/or injuries were caused. I wish I could split myself in 3 so I can live my life in the exile and be able to sleep, while also keep fighting for the freedom of my beloved country. We are gone but we are not absent.

Public statement
I guess the reason i don't own a blog where i write about my personal simple day-to-day life is because I do not want to be judged about it.
There is nothing illegal, immoral or mental about my life; it’s just i feel a part of me is afraid of being labelled by the thoughts, fears and feelings I might share. I refuse to live my life to fulfil ideas and expectations others may have. Although I tend to ask for advice and mentorship, I want to take my own decisions, make my own mistakes. And I would hate for someone to treat me in a certain way just because of something I said that may be too personal. I like exploring things, questioning what is, what could be and why is it that some things will never ever be. While some people may call me a dis-conformist, I see myself as a challenger of the status quo. I would like to say I enjoy controversy without people reading into it as if I love to argue for the sake of conflict. I love debating and asking the tough questions even sometimes detached of my personal beliefs; it really opens my mind. Conflict, I try to avoid it (i really do, stop laughing).
This is the very core of the problem with labels and prejudice: we pick up one action or one opinion from someone and we decide this will be the definition of the said individual if anyone (including ourselves) enquires information about him/her.
I want to be me, the person I am and not the person anyone else sees in me for people tend to judge you based on a few (or just one) of the many facets that compound you. I want to make deep -not shallow- connections. I want everlasting relationships. I want to meet people I can rely on the way most rely on family at home.
So whenever you read me, whatever we talk about, remember the coin has two sides (so does the moon).
Strive to be the Outside you
A Life Lesson from Judaism
"A person could show all of the external signs and traits of being one kind of person, but inside, like the pig*, is actually someone completely different.
One of the most important foundations someone needs to have in order for him to feel good about himself and have high self-esteem is to be consistent with who he is both externally and internally. Just like for an animal to be kosher it must have the proper signs on both its outside and inside, we must strive to do the same.
Sadly, people tend to act one way when the world is watching and another way altogether in private. Doing this can never make someone feel good about himself because he’s a fake. If you show the world one “you”, but are really someone much different, then you can never have a strong self-image or be truly happy.
However, there are times when you should act a little differently that who you normally are. For example, on a first date or job interview your manners might be better than they usually are. But if you present yourself as someone completely different that who you really are, then this is just like the pig. A great sight for all who look at it, but inside is secretly the exact opposite. Acting better in certain surroundings is fine, but being a completely different person makes you a fraud.
So, which is the real person: the public one or the private one? The lesson that God is teaching us is that it’s who the person is on the inside - when he or is she is outside of public view - that largely determines the real “you.” And when you refine the character of that person - the one the outside world rarely sees - then you’ll never be living a life of deception. Try for one day to live your entire day as though everything you do - both in public and private - is being shown on a huge screen in Times Square for the whole world to see. And as the inside “you” begins to transform into the outside “you”, you’ll begin feeling so much happier because you won’t be living of life of deceit but rather one of honesty, growth, and truth."
(*): G-d tells the Jewish people how they can know whether or not an animal is kosher. G-d said that if an animal has split hooves and brings up its own cud, then it’s kosher and can be eaten. However, if any animal has either hooves that aren’t split or it doesn’t bring up its cud, then the animal isn’t kosher and cannot be eaten.
The pig - the universal symbol of a non-kosher animal - appears to all who look at it that it is in fact a kosher animal. But only by knowing what’s happening inside the animal - that it doesn’t chew its own cud - can one know that the pig is completely non-kosher.
#faith #holyland #tierrasanta #israel #dreams #countdown
If you’re an unreasonable person, trust me: the time it takes to find the best of something is completely worth it. It’s better to have a few fantastic things designed for you than to have many untrustworthy things poorly designed to please everyone.

Achieving dreams
Something I havent share with you is that I am a fan of Formula 1.
The need for speed is in my veins as my father used to race cars and motorcycles as a hobby. Car racings are not always as glamorous as we perceive them. Too often, drivers struggle to get funding on the right time. It is a risky sport, it is dangerous, and requires much training.
I had the opportunity to meet a teenager driver. His dream is to get to Formula 1 and if you ask me, he's got all the potential. His name is Nick Canal and today sent me a message with this video I want to share with you. I would generally not do anything similar in this space. However, I think a small contribution from our sides, can sometimes become greater than we could imagine. And as a full-time dreamer, I would not sleep well at night if I knew I could had done something to help a friend reach more people.... So here it goes, hoping you can let us know of other efficient ways to raise funding:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KgBGpQvuQMA
Thanks for spending 4min of your time.
You can read the message he sent me here:
"As you guys know, I am a racecar driver. I have been for the past few years. At the moment, with Richard off at university, and with me closely following, it's becoming very difficult for my parents to continue supporting my racing.
My major objective right now is to try and minimize the costs put on them. I've set up a raffle for all of you (hopefully even more people), to have the chance to with the iPhone 5. I'm selling "tickets" for 10$ each on this website: http://www.gofundme.com/nickcanalracing So I'm asking for your help and support through a small contribution to my career. I hope you guys are willing to help me achieve my life dreams. I promise that whenever any of you take the decision to take the leap towards your dreams, I will no doubt be there to help you too. Please, even if you are or are not willing, share this to any of your friends to help me with it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgBGpQvuQMA Thank you all for your time, and I hope you take me seriously in my attempt."
