The two big reasons why I think it's gonna be Gwynriel over Elriel is structure and contrast.

Azriel's first pov chapter is all about his romantic entanglements. He has a gift ready, a necklace with a rose pendant, which is obviously a romantic token. he intends it for one woman, he has a moment with her, but then it goes wrong and the romantic token is rejected. He then encounters another woman, they talk, Azriel shows comfort and pleasure in her company, and he ends up giving the romantic token to her. No, I don't think Azriel transferred his feelings for Elain to Gwyn in that precise moment, what I do think is that Gwyn has no purpose in that precise chapter which is all about Azriel's love life, except to be brought in as a potential love interest. The structure invites contrasts between Azriel's heated, lust based encounter with Elain, and his more emotional, verbal connection with Gwyn, who he ends up giving his romantic token to . It begins with Elain, and ends with Gwyn, and I think that is to foreshadow how Azriel's arc is going to go.

In terms of contrast, Azriel has three main love interests. First there was Mor, who he pined over for years. She was forbidden, beautiful, and he idolised her. Now there's Elain. Elain is forbidden, beautiful, and he idolises her. There's not really anything to differentiate his attraction to Mor from his attraction to Elain. There's also a touch of coveting of both dynamics, in terms of wanting what his brothers have. Azriel pined for Morrigan while she used Cassian as a buffer, and had sex with Cassian, while Azriel broods over why he, as the third brother, didn't get the third sister.

With Gwyn, there's a difference. With Gwyn there isn't instant attraction, and he doesn't idolise her or put her on a pedestal. She also isn't romantically linked to his brothers, or part of any sort of "if they get a Archeron sister then so do I" set up. They see each other just as people. First he's her trainer, than gradually an affection emerges, and always there is mutural respect. It's a classic friends to lovers romance, and I think for Azriel, whose character has been so much defined by pining for a forbidden idol in his other romances, for his love story to feel like a break from that pattern, a friends to lovers romantic arc, gradually growing through time and shared experiences, would be excellent character development for him.

The T3 region above the left ear is probably underutilized by INFJs. T3 handles words (yours and others'); it is used when performing tasks done by speaking.

It is suggested that If you talk to yourself while "thinking (solving math problems, etc), you are likely using this region". INFJs are probably in the category of "people don’t use this region much, but instead may think in symbols, pictures, etc."

INFJs rarely talk to themselves out loud while thinking; they tend to do most of their thinking in their head. In fact, speech accompanying thoughts in real time is rather difficult for INFJs relative to other types.

INFJs are highly visual and words tend to come secondary to images. They are not particularly quick and articulate with their spoken words.

Composing complex sentences and attending to proper grammar and word usages may be easier for INFJs in the written form, where they have more time to think about these aspects of language.

In MBTI terms, if you think about people who have a great capacity to speak at length in complex sentences or grammatically correct paragraphs with excellent word choices, these types generally have high extroverted thinking (Te).

While INFJs are capable of listening to others' words and taking them in, their memory and understanding of those words is much better if they take notes and read over them later. Listening in and of itself is not a particularly effective method for INFJs to take in A LOT of information. When listening, INFJs tend to filter what is important to them and discard what they don't think is important (whether or not it is).

Just remembered the scene in ACOMAF where the shadows touch Feyre's shoulders and cheeks in comfort when Azriel carries her to the human realm for the first time since she turned fae. Cannot wait to see how the shadows treat his one true love and mate, who is also the one person they are already canonically obsessed with. I need those shadows to be the amorphous equivalent of the beloved pet trope

Here is the summary:

SJM was going to pair Azriel with Mor, but she abandoned the idea because people were complaining about a lack of representation in the books. So, Mor is LGBTQ+ and will likely end up with Emerie.

She created Gwyn for ACOSF but altered the plot so that Azriel has known her since ACOMAF; Azriel feels the "Spark", which SJM has stated is essential for her couples, and even hears a "silent song" that his shadows respond to when he moves away from her, another element she uses for her "endgame" couples, introduced in the very first book Gwyn appeared in.

Finally, SJM had already stated that Elucien would have a journey of tension, healing, and growth together; that the couple surprised her; that they are happiest in nature; and she has even described what a modern date between them would look like.

The other side tries to claim that Elucien is a mistake of nature, whereas SJM merely stated that Elain wonders IF is a mistake of nature; furthermore, they cite Rhysand’s parents as an example, a comparison that has absolutely nothing to do with Lucien and Elain, given that he is the mate who has most respected his partner's personal space.

Especially because, for a story to feature a plot combining tension, healing and growth, it HAS to include that tension, skipping that stage isn't an option. This is especially true after the "enemies-to-lovers" and "slow-burn" tropes leaked a while ago.

SJM has stated that her "endgame" couples MUST have that spark between them, something Elriel never had this or 💖🎶💖 across five books. Elucien met at the very end of Acomaf, and Elain showed that spark the moment she saw Lucien again at the start of Acowar. Gwynriel had that spark in the very first book she appeared in; SJM handed it to us on a silver platter before we even had time to ask for that pairing.

So that’s it. Emorie (probably), Elucien, and Gwynriel. Three couples, since SJM really seems to like the number three, right? And in the end Az wasn't even that wrong about "3 brothers for 3 sisters."
