I am bored so I’m starting a tag game!

what languages do you speak? Do you have just one first language/language spoken when you were little? Multiple? Do you still speak them? How about ones you learned later? Are you fluent? that sort of thing

I’ll start! My first language is English, but I’ve been learning Spanish for five years and counting and I consider myself mostly fluent (not native level by any means but I can read/listen/write/speak well enough, and my abilities there aren’t much worse than in English, though my vocabulary is definitely less robust). I know a bit of French from my mom and middle school, and can figure some other things out à la Spanish. I can also swear in six languages (I don’t but I could lol)

So I'm fluent in Polish and English, I also know bits of German from school and stuff but I'm not really good with it, I also know bits of Japanese but it's really bad, wanted to learn it before but I'm too lazy and forgetfull to get into a learning rutine

My first language was Polish and af for English I'm within the language learning journey for about 9 years already

My parents wanted me to learn german when I was little cause I'm half german myself but it's cause of my dad's work and I don't have any family there so there wasn't much pressure and I've never actually learned it

I'm fluent in French (first language) and English, I speak a bit of Spanish and I'm learning Italian, I also know hiragana + some katakana and kanji (so in Japanese), I'm planning to learn Swedish and Russian even if for now I only know some words, and right now I'm learning French Sign Language ! Next year I might start a local language too, and I think that's all ? I plan to learn more but for now that's already a lot. I fluently speak Ukrainian (first language), Russian (first-ish language? A lot of people spoke it around me so I never had to go out of my way to learn it) and English (what even is "all the faith he had had had had no effect on his life").

I've been trying to learn German but gave up really quickly, so I can only say a couple of phrases. Might try again. I can also kind of stumble through a few sentences in BSL

Maybe I'll try to learn other languages in the future, but only this for now

hooboy My first languages were Tagalog and Ilocano, with a sprinkle of Cebuano, and before anybody says that the last two are dialects HOP OFF MY DICK PUTANG INA </3. I learned english too and it was easier for me to get ahold of so Im fluent in both English n Tagalog. When I was in 1st grade I learned French and Italian, but I've lost all abilities to speak it aside from a few sentences, and arcobaleno. In 3rd grade, I was forced to learn Spanish because of their curriculum. And because of my previous language backgrounds, I grasped and comprehended it better than a good handful of my peers who have been in the school dsitrict longer than I have (#imbetter). I also learned a little bit of ASL at an after school program. I've been learning Japanese since the start of highschool. and for some goddamn reason, despite the fact I can barely read their kanji, i can speak and understand it better than TAGALOG.

Currently, I want to get back into the languages I learned in childhood, especially ASL. I also want to get into Latin and Malay because why not lololol. (Malay because I wanna study in singapore)

I did learn languages when I was in school though. I learned Spanish in middle school and then took French in high school, which was just to be different since my mom took Spanish and my dad took German. Didn’t even really learn anything in that class, it definitely felt more like a chill, hang out hour than emu thing else. My teacher was also cool.

It’s something that, yeah I do want to work on. Relearning the language would be fun, but it feels like most things in life: I wanna do it, I should do it, but finding the time and motivation is the hard part. That’s why I got a huge respect towards the people who keep with it and become multilingual

Oh yeah my parents also tried to learn Polish by watching a show that was basically Polish version of cheaters (my mom is like almost 100% Polish no joke, that’s why) before finding out that “shit, Polish is a hard language to learn.” Just a funny story there

Im fluent in English, German and Turkish!

At some point school made it mandatory to pick between french and latin, and i chose french!

Id say im on A2 in french… so i wouldn’t even count it…

Ugh, languages i started learning are:

Finnish, Russian, Japanese and Mandarin when i was in the trenches….

Easiest to speak are probably english and german. I dont have many people to keep my turkish active with, so i can get a little rusty over time. Noting some gözleme and çay cant fix though.

Im a fluent russian speaker, i grew up with my grandparents speaking ukrainian to me so i can kiiiinda speak ukrainian but i dont know a lot of words T_T and i sometime instead start speaking surzhyk (mix russian and ukrainian). I can speak english (not really at the native level but pretty good i'd say ^_^*). Okay the weirdest thing is that i read faster in english than in russin X_X

I can understand polish (and also some other slavic languages). It sounds to me super similar to ukrainian, but at the same time its so different from it x_X its crazy in the language world i tell you v_v. And also reading it is so cool i love it <3 jabłko my love. Because of QSMP2 ive been watching A LOT of polish streamers rn (i might learn it before spanish X_x rip...)
