Inhumanity and white supremacy and christofascism are the pillars of MAGA.
The other pillars are abuse of children, abuse of women, and abuse of mothers.

Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian but it’s Toxic by Britney Spears
I’m gonna propose something: if your combat/ass-kicking sequence can’t fit to a top 40 female-vocalist Banger like “Toxic” or “Mama Mia” or “I Need a Hero” you’re not Doing It Right.
At this point its starting to feel like Editors are using 140-150bpm as a standard for action sequences, and I cant say I hate it.
I agree wholeheartedly with every point above but I watched this first with the sound off because I forgot that was an option and what struck me most is how efficient Luke's lightsaber style is. Almost every flourish he makes and all of what, 2 entire spins?, is defensive to better parry blaster fire while nearly every offensive swing he makes is basically a head or chest level kill shot. If I had to make a guess about his character I'd say this vintage twink has probably Seen Some Shit and maybe comes from a background where resources are scarce and help is far away so if you get in a fight you have to end it before it starts or you're dead meat
deeply want a time travel fic where Luke visits the old republic and the Jedi are like “that’s not a dueling style” and luke is like “yea am not doing much dueling tbh”
My favorite take on Luke's jedi training is in one of the books where obi-wan laments to yoda that they're not really making a jedi proper, but a weapon.

The Germans really cooked making "Hobbyless behaviour" an insult. It is both devastating, applicable to a wide range of people and behaviours, and doesn't resort to swearing.
Man ranting on the internet about the Superbowl halftime show or complaining that something is "woke"? Hobbyless Behaviour. Girls mocking another girl for not looking right? Hobbyless Behaviour. Mindless vandalism? Hobbyless Behaviour.
It is more powerful than "get a life" or the English "You're Sad" because it gets to the central point of the matter, and that is wonderful. Danke, Deutsch.
listen I am all for fidget toys. But we need to go harder. Humans were actually not meant to sit through lectures without using their hands. Fight against the robotification of humanity. Do fibercrafts in your office/classroom/church. You do not need to sit there like the impassable ideal man. Do fibercrafts. Start embroidering at work. Listen to the call of the strings.
My mother religiously knits in her meetings, and has done so for years. My friends and I sometimes crochet in class if we dont need to take notes. Life is beautiful and freedom is a gift - use it!
I just got a stand that holds my yarn/thread while crocheting, and as i was working on a project one night, also watching whatever one of thd kids put on the tv, i realized, i wished there was a portable spindle like the one on my stand that i could take with me. 5 minute on the internet, and i found one. It hangs from the wrist (or whatever), and the fiber sits on the spindle, leaving your hands free to work. Now i can crochet when i'm standing waiting for the bus, in waiting rooms... hell, the other day i had to take a kid to some other kid's birthday. Other parents don't tend to talk to me, so i brought my crochet.

A new watchdog report has exposed the eye-watering costs to U.S. taxpayers that have piled up as a result of President Donald Trump's federal takeover of Washington D.C.
Last summer, Trump announced via executive order that the federal government would be taking over control of the D.C. police department, while also deploying forces from the district's National Guard regiment and from the regiments in other states. This, he and his MAGA allies claimed, was being done to address rampant crime in Washington, despite the fact that major crimes had been on the decline in the city for years, as they have been in many major metro areas. It was also speculated that the move came as a response to one of Trump's former DOGE employees, Edward Coristine, getting assaulted by two teenagers.
On Monday, the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington released a new report detailing the vast expenses that this takeover has racked up on the dime of taxpayers, totaling over $18 million in less than a year, based on materials that the group obtained from the U.S. Marshals via a lawsuit.
"From August 2025 to March 2026, the U.S. Marshals Service identified over $18 million in taxpayer funded costs related to its deployment for the Trump administration’s federal takeover of D.C., according to records obtained by CREW through a lawsuit brought under the Freedom of Information Act," the watchdog report explained. "The marshals play several important roles, including providing security for judges, tracking down fugitives across the country and running the witness security program. The agency apparently pulled resources from district courts across the country, including in Guam and the Virgin Islands, to participate in the 'D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force.'”
These additional costs from the Marshals are on top of the $332 million cost related to the deployment of National Guard forces to D.C. as of February.
The CREW report added later: "The most significant cost was nearly $6 million pulled from USMS’ tactical operations division, the unit responsible for responding to high-threat and emergency situations. The agency also pulled over $3 million from its investigative operations division and over $2 million from the D.C. Superior Court, reducing the number of marshals providing security in a high profile courthouse in D.C. during a surge of threats against judges."

"That’s what makes Zohran Mamdani’s election in New York so unsettling to the old order. New York City is not just another municipality; it’s a sovereign-scale entity. Its population surpasses 38 states. Its metropolitan GDP trails only Texas and California.
It is, by any metric, a small country masquerading as a city.
It governs more lives and more wealth than most nations. If democratic socialism — housing reform, public banking, equitable taxation — functions here, it obliterates the myth that such governance can’t work at scale. The fear isn’t ideological. It’s empirical. Because if Mamdani can keep the lights on, reduce homelessness, and maintain economic growth without catering to Wall Street, then the capitalist gospel collapses under its own dead weight.
What terrifies the establishment isn’t failure. It’s feasibility.
If it works in New York, there’s no reason it can’t work in Nebraska. If it works in Queens, it can work in Kansas City. And once proof exists, belief becomes irrelevant. The ship of democracy, fully refitted, will keep sailing — and no one can claim it isn’t American."

My favorite category of government program to run across is "program you've never heard of doing extremely important work to solve a major problem which you have also never heard of." On that note, the US drops millions of pounds of sterile bugs over Panama each week in order to prevent a parasite infestation from moving into North America. Everyone say thank you to the Panama-United States Commission for the Eradication and Prevention of the Cattle Borer Worm (COPEG)
This program had its funding cut during the DOGE cuts last year and now the parasitic worm they were trying to slow the spread of has officially arrived in the United States.

Best comment I just saw "Helen of Troy was perfectly cast, because all these men are fighting about her."
Women frighten conservative men. Any instance of independence and reactionary Republicans go medieval.

Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons - Absolute Edition by Kelly Sue DeConnick, Phil Jimenez, Gene Ha and Nicola Scott. Out in July 2026.
"From writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artists Phil Jimenez, Gene Ha, and Nicola Scott comes an epic tale of goddesses, gods, rebellion, and retribution.
Millennia ago, the goddesses of Olympus aired their grievances about the faults of man to Zeus, king of gods. When their petitions were ignored, they gathered in secret to create the Amazons: six warrior tribes born from the souls of women who had endured violence. Under the cover of night, the Amazons successfully brought justice against those who harmed women and increased their ranks with those they rescued, leading to the creation of a seventh tribe. But with great victory also came spite from the male gods, and a war the likes of which neither heaven nor earth had seen before.
This is the story of Hippolyta, a slave who became a warrior, a warrior who became a queen, and a queen who became a mother to one of Earth’s greatest champions. Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons: Absolute Edition presents the multiple Eisner-winning miniseries in oversize format with a collectible slipcase, a behind-the-scenes look at how this masterpiece was created, and more."
If I have one complaint about Historia, it's that it wasn't released as a full size european style hardcover comic. Harder to fit on the shelf, but I'd love to have that art even bigger.
