academic writing these days is always like “be/longing” “re-membering” “(under)standing”
STEM academic writing is like "we present the results of the ACRONYM project (A ContRived mnemOnic is NecessarY Material)"
jennifer cantwell, 2011
“the recording is of a blackbird in my garden in the north of scotland. the idea of the piece is that it's a letter home from a migrated bird, telling the family of its new life and making the connection between the migrant and the homeland.” - jennifer cantwell

Remember the time it was so hot in halifax that the lampposts melted because I completely forgot to post about it when I was actually in halifax so here it is 2 weeks late
They just look so tired and ready to give up.
this is an art installation
the melting point of steel is over 2,600 degrees fahrenheit
it was a rough summer in halifax
It’s cool how we found the secret elixir that cures all human disease and it’s in this guy’s bitey little mouth
A lot of people apparently have learned new information from this joke post referencing pretty widely known scientific information. A lot of people, in general, have strong (incorrect) opinions about glp-1s.
And so I would suggest the following: if you don’t get this joke post, then maybe your opinions on ozempic are not especially informed.
This post has become a real pain in my ass because of how dumb many of you are, but, nonetheless, this guy’s bitey little mouth is showing promising results in treating cancer

When you've been a writer for long enough, commas become more of a spiritual practice than a grammatical one.
Could I explain the actual rules of how they’re used? Absolutely not.
Do I rely on sensing a tremor in the force to tell me where to use them? Yes and this has never failed me even once.

we're at a cottage for the long weekend and my sister decided we would be eating filipino street foods, so the conversation naturally went to our childhoods. it turns out my parents (my dad, even more so) are still salty about that time in elementary school when i lost the top spot in the honour roll. the bitterness was not towards me, rather he was mad at my teachers because he suspects some foul play happened. instead of, y'know, me simply not performing as well as i had been. like, it's been more than 20 years and while it did suck at the time, i'm personally not pressed about it. but that certainly gave me a complex.
the one thing i hold a grudge for was that time my religion teacher chastised me for complaining that we were reciting "our father" too slowly, as if we were illiterate. it was grade 4 or 5, all the prayers were muscle memory by that point. (and that despite 10 years of catholic school, i didn't get to learn about the bible enough. truthfully, the same thing could be said about my knowledge of philippine history after the japanese occupation. it was like, bataan death march and then it's was people power.)
a bit of "frog stories around nuclear power plant," which i was so convinced that i've seen years and years ago but it was from 2025 and this was on display at the whitney biennial 2026
