We have at least one bunny nest in our yard every year. We usually keep an eye out and when we find one we place a cheap plastic outdoor end table over top of it. the table does not stop momma from coming to feed (we've checked, it's just four legs and a top, open all around) and also stops us from accidentally stepping on it or mowing over the nest. They tend to just build their nests right in the middle of our yard. It's full of clover.

This post irks me every time it comes around because poster #2 (No OP's addition I love OPs addition I too would ziplock rogue babies) clearly has no idea how childcare facilities run. They work in shifts. The daycare we used was open from 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM. You think everyone was there that entire 11.5 hour period? Absolutely the fuck not. They were working in 8 hour shifts with openers, midday (the main teachers) and closers. And there's no reason that couldn't be 6 hour shifts. In fact, probably SHOULD be shorter shifts. That shit is exhausting and childcare workers are grossly underpaid for the work they do (despite the cost to parents being astronomical).

There's actually been numerous studies that support a shorter workday (for the same pay). A quick google will get you a bunch but here's a BBC article summing things up for example: https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20220711-the-case-for-a-six-hour-workday

The 8-hour workday isn't some magic perfect number it was a COMPROMISE position between unions and the owning class when the standard workday was 10-16 hours during the Industrial Revolution.

my most lukewarm take is that I don't think there should be any exemptions for vaccines, etc., beyond documented legit adverse medical shit that makes it physically impossible. like they should be free and required and nobody should be allowed to just choose to leave their child and any immunocompromised person they interact with vulnerable to potentially deadly but entirely preventable diseases and other medical conditions.

my lukewarm addition to this is that i think refusing your child vaccines is child abuse, just like refusing to feed them
