first step to understanding halcarol is to acknowledge that everything hal did, carol did first. gender roles, violations of autonomy, complicity within the military industrial complex etc. are overarching themes within green lantern comics, which are often introduced to the narrative through carol ferris subplots, then (oftentimes retroactively) applied to hal. and what this does is not only prime the narrative for hal's development, exhibited on a grandiose franchise-wide scale, but establish carol as a thematic pseudo-deuteragonist. time and time again she comes to stark realizations about the reality of The Institution before they ever enter hal's purview; she refers to hal as the "guardian's lapdog" as she gives him the ultimatum that leads him to quit the corps, she understands what it's like to try and fail to live up to your father's gendered expectations, she grapples with the guilt of her transgressions in the pursuit of power—all before hal did. at the heart of green lantern there is carol ferris, and imho you must to acknowledge her role in order fully appreciate it

$25,830 raised of $50,000 as of november 5
since this fundraiser has started back in early 2024, we've only managed to help fund the escape of dr moath and his mother, basma. three family members remain in gaza including moath's father and his two younger brothers.
please help his family. this fundraiser has been stagnating badly and i'm incredibly worried for yusuf, ahmed, and their father. we need less than $5000 in order to evacuate one of them. if you have any money to spare please please please contribute to this campaign.
[ID: Two screenshots of the campaign's donation history showing the four most recent donations: $25 nine days ago, $10 three days ago, $10 one day ago, and $10 eight hours ago. End ID.]
only THREE donations this week please help moath. remember that bassem, his older brother in egypt, hasn't seen his youngest brothers and father in over a year because of this accelerated genocide. don't hesitate to help them in any way you can.
When cooking oil ran out from the market, we replaced it with ghee as an alternative. So the price of ghee increased ten times. When they hoarded sugar, we started to use vanilla extract instead until sugar ran out from the market.Instant coffee is blocked from entering, and the kind that is available is now very expensive. We turned to fresh coffee instead. They started skimping with fresh coffee and its price increased dramatically. Vegetables are expensive and practically nonexistent. We started to depend on canned food. Now the can of spoilt food, peas, beans, fava beans and chickpeas, is 7 shekels (2$)
My friends, I want to clarify something very important to you, which is that all the campaign money is spent and nothing is left. This post shows you the cost of living in Gaza.
Don't look at how much the campaign has earned, but look at how many people it has spent on and how much life costs in Gaza.

There was fresh fish in the market at one point. Yet the price was so high that we decided to turn to canned tuna instead. Now the one can of tuna is 25 shekels(7$).There's no flour anymore. The flour we can find is filled with worms and weevils. We accepted that it was our only option, but now a sack of 25 kg spoilt flour sells for 200 shekels(55$). A sack of clean flour, however, sells for 1,500 shekels(400$). This is for a bag that would barely last one week. There's nothing left for us to consume and we have become dependent on zaatar and dukka for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Now a bag of dukka is 15 shekels(5$) and a bag of zaatar is 25(7$) shekels.

We resorted to get deserts like awwama and halab or ma'moul to replace sweet fruits. They stopped making these deserts because sugar, semolina and oil have all run out. All of this is in the midst of death, bombardment and the bitter cold. Our lives are passing by us for nothing. There is no liquidity in the market. If you're able to get money out, fees will be 35% while prices don't stop soaring. We've become frogs whose only job is to adapt.
Where do we go??

the blog @wolf-aid is ran by Ibrahim, the fifteen year old boy from this fundraiser. When I spoke to him yesterday he had just received news of two of his relatives being martyred by an israeli attack. Most of us will never understand the level of fear and pain he is experiencing right now, having to grieve while fearing for your own life too every day. He is only fifteen years old and has so much life left to live, please give him a chance at safety. Ibrahim is not asking for much, he just wants to live. Any donation will help.
Again, Ibrahim, I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️
If you have any kind words for Ibrahim, please comment them

In the heart of war-torn Gaza, where destruction and loss are a daily reality, lies the deeply moving tale of Dr. Husam Farhat and his family. Amidst the relentless bombardment, Dr. Farhat faced an unthinkable tragedy: the martyrdom of his beloved sisters, Inas and Amal, along with their husbands and children, and his brother Mustafa. This devastating loss shattered not only their dreams but also their hopes for a peaceful future.
Life Before the War: Memories of a Beautiful Home
Before the war, my life revolved around a beautiful home where I lived with my wife, our daughter Sham, and our sons Muhannad and Muhammad. This home was more than just a place to live; it was a sanctuary filled with love, warmth, and the joy of watching my children grow. Every corner of our home echoed with their laughter, turning it into a place where dreams for the future felt not only possible but inevitable, but then the war came, and in an instant, everything changed. The place where we once felt safe and secure was reduced to rubble. The life we had carefully built, the dreams we had nurtured, and the bright future we had planned were all torn apart. The war didn’t just destroy our home; it uprooted our entire existence, leaving us with nothing but the painful memories of what once was, Now, standing in the ruins of our former life, I'm left with fragments of a distant dream. The joy and security we once knew have been replaced by loss and uncertainty as we face a future overshadowed by harsh realities.
The Loss of My Professional Dream and Life After the War
And it wasn’t just my home that was destroyed. My accounting office, one of the most renowned in Palestine, was also reduced to rubble. I had worked tirelessly to build this office, which wasn't just a place of business but a reflection of my passion and dedication to the field of accounting. It was our primary source of income, providing financial stability and security for my family, My office was well-known for its exceptional services and strong reputation among clients. Over the years, it had become a symbol of success and hard work in the accounting world. But the war took it all away in an instant. Everything I had worked so hard to achieve was destroyed, and years of effort and dedication were wiped out in moments, Now, I stand on the ruins of my office, just as I stand on the ruins of my life, trying to piece together the remnants of my dreams and memories. This office was a source of pride for me and my family, but the war has left us with nothing, facing an uncertain and difficult future.
War's Toll on My Dreams and Future
The war didn’t just destroy my home and office; it shattered my dreams and future. As a PhD candidate in Accounting Information Systems at Universiti Utara Malaysia, I was in my final year, pursuing research that is a significant contribution to my field and valuable to entrepreneurs. With a master’s degree with distinction and a bachelor's degree, I also taught at several universities, sharing my knowledge and passion, But the war disrupted everything. Years of hard work, academic progress, and my contributions to the field have been torn apart, leaving me with an uncertain future. Now, I am faced with the daunting task of not only rebuilding my life but also reviving the dreams and ambitions that once drove me. The journey ahead is filled with challenges, but my resolve to continue remains strong.
Displacement and Uncertainty After the War
Now, after all this devastation, my family and I are living as displaced people, homeless and jobless, with no clear future for ourselves or our children. Every day is a struggle to find food for my children, who have been robbed of every chance at a normal life by this war. Once, we lived in Shuja'iyya, in North Gaza, where we had a home, a life, and dreams. But now, after being displaced over nine times, we find ourselves in the refugee camps of Nuseirat, the war has stripped us of everything—our home, our security, and our future. Our daily life has become a constant search for basic necessities, a far cry from the life we once knew. The dreams I had for my children and myself now feel like distant memories, overshadowed by the relentless challenges of survival. Each day brings new uncertainties, as we navigate this harsh new reality, clinging to the hope that one day we might rebuild what was lost.
Rebuild Hope: A Call to Stand with Us
We urgently call on all those who stand in solidarity with us, and every supporter, to help save what remains of our lives. Your assistance, even in small ways, can make a significant difference in helping us rebuild and restore our shattered world, rebuilding feels like an insurmountable task, but with your help, we can begin to piece together what was lost. Your contributions, no matter how small, can provide the foundation we need to start anew, offering hope and a chance at a better future for our family. Your solidarity means the world to us as we navigate these challenging times.

Fucking damn it, Siraj's campaign on GFM got deleted I am actually so mad right now. He has to start anew, is anyone able to host the new fundraiser? :(
Hello, everyone. So I have been campaigning for Siraj for a long time (since August, vetted and verified GFM) and today his fundraiser got deleted. He is very distressed and so am I, he was able to raise $96,754 out of $150,000. This money is for his family of 23 members, especially his 3 children, who are going through the worst crimes against humanity. The money is needed for food, medicine, rent, and clothing (especially as Winter is approaching). Without the money, I am afraid that Siraj and his family's suffering will increase tenfold.
So please, I ask; is anyone able to host Siraj's new fundraiser? Please boost and share.
i'm literally so fucking sorry 2 keep doing these & i hope the day when i do not have to comes soon 🥹 but in the meantime... as y'all are tired of hearing, i'm an audhd trans dyke w no fixed income bc getting accessible jobs where i live is impossible, so most of the money i make is thru commissions online & freelance design gigs. i have some huge & important medical appointments coming up that could lead up to a more accessible & peaceful life but they're just. impossible for me to pay out of pocket bc i just simply do not have that money, not w my bills & medication & helping my dad with the nursing home bills for my grandma on top of all of it.
w that said, i'm taking commissions. i have three premium themes that you can buy right now (one of which i posted today - and am using on my main blog if you wanna check it out). i also have a masterlist of free themes that support tumblr's new editor format here. check out my resource blog for anything that could be of use to you: @userbru
and if not but you would still like to help me out in any way, any any anyyyy amount is extremely appreciated. thank you so much in advance. please don't tag these as s1gn4l b00st (it tends to get the post to lose traction)
hi everyone! thanks to everyone who's helped by commissioning, buying my themes or just helping by donating/reblogging so far, i appreciate u more than i can say!!! unfortunately they have slowed down & i really really need this money soon (my bank balance is near negatives from paying bills yesterday and i still have to help my dad & pay for these appointments on top of the medication i'll have to get afterwards that is not cheap at all n i cannot afford it as is rn 🥹) soo pls rb to reach more ppl thank u sm ♡
(reminder that i take commissions for icons, headers and gifsets as well)
The third one (North and Central Gaza) delivers fresh water and food to families and currently only has enough funds to continue doing it for one week. Donations are urgently needed.
@mohammedhaboubsblog's parents Adli and Rania’s rent in Gaza is due on Nov 20th.
Adli and Rania have been paying this exorbitant rent to take shelter in a shared house, and they have nowhere else to go. if they can’t pay the rent in time, they will be displaced again without any shelter, and will still need to raise this money immediately to purchase a tent and other necessities of life. they can barely leave the house currently because the zionist terrorists shoot at anyone who moves. relocating to a displacement camp would be extremely dangerous.
they urgently need our help. please support them by reblogging & donating whatever you can spare:
Help Support Our Family in Gaza and Egypt
Dear friends,
My … Zach K needs your support for Help support a Palestinian family
I was once a young man full of dreams and hopes, looking at life as a field of endless opportunities. My days felt bright, filled with energy and excitement for the future.😩
But then, war came. It hit like a harsh storm, destroying not just buildings and streets but everything I had inside me. My life turned to ashes, and my dreams were scattered like dust.💔
Today, I feel like my youth has withered before its time, as if the light in my life has faded. Even in quiet moments, a deep fear chases me—fear that, even if the war ends, nothing will ever be the same. The life I once knew feels like a distant memory, unreachable and lost.
But I hold on to hope that there are people out there who can help bring a little light back into my life. I know each of you has your own life ‼️💔, your own struggles. But I believe that, in the end, our shared humanity must come first. Please don’t turn away; even the smallest act of kindness can bring warmth back to hearts like mine, hearts struggling in darkness.
With your support , I can begin to rebuild not just my life, but my spirit. Together, we can create a world where compassion guides us, a world where no one feels abandoned.
Some pictures show my features changing between the past and the present I live, and I also deliberately do not show pictures that show suffering harshly, such as my picture in the hospital and my pictures under bombardment because this makes me feel depressed 😣
