I think the main reason Buck met Theo before the crash is so that he feels responsible for him, and guilty at Theo being a difficult child (which is wild to me. He’s a toddler and the way they’ve done handled things in the ep was very questionable). I think they wanted Buck to feel that, and to feel attached to Theo, so in the next ep they can justify him (and not any next of kin of Connor and Kameron) taking custody. Kinda like he believes he’s the only one who can handle Theo

I mean I get that but still…as an audience I feel kind of underestimated, like, no one needs to explain to me why Buck would feel responsible for the little orphan with the curls and the impulsive behavior. He adopts every child he meets anyway. I know my evan buck buckley, I have been there with him for nine seasons, yk? And the whole scene with Kameron and Connor at Buck‘s house just felt like them saying: actually this child is faulty and we would like a refund please. Like, what was Buck gonna say? Yeah, my parents wanted a refund also?!? Like you said, him feeling guilty is wild - and in this instance it does not even stem from his own insecurity, it was literally Kameron and Connor going: yeah this is your fault why didn’t you warn us
