TOS Kirk being the epitome of masculinity in the time that the show was airing just reveals so much about how masculinity standards have changed. More specifically just how damn narrow it's gotten. That man got to cross his legs sitting in the captain's chair like the badass mf he is. But now you have 'masculinity coaches' telling men that they're emasculating themselves if they do that. And that's not even to get into how caring, emotional and kind he gets to be while never losing even an inch of his badass/masculine status. He gets to represent the best (and worst sometimes) of humanity while still being seen as a MAN. A badass, cool man.
