Seizure of indigenous land, 1776-1887
an important reminder as ‘4th of July’ rolls around
Also an important reminder as the “Europeans and Native Americans made peace” holiday farce of Thanksgiving is today
I’m at 5 what about you?
Everyone who is Jewish or Muslim gets to ignore the pork thing though.
This morning, an active shooter at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill murdered at least seven people, possibly more. Two responding officers have been wounded as well. The killer has not yet been apprehended and police are asking anyone in the immediate area to stay indoors.
Please keep Pittsburgh’s Jewish population in your thoughts, and continue to demand stronger action to keep weapons out of the hands of those who would commit hate crimes.
If you are local, the Central Blood Bank has experienced shortages recently and will surely benefit from your help. If you are able to donate, especially if you are a rare blood type, please go in and do so asap.
Horrified to hear about the shooting in Pittsburgh. The only thing I have to say is that despite being less than 2% of the population, 72% of all religious hate crimes in the US are antisemitic (and that’s ignoring the ethnic aspect of antisemitism). It’s getting tiring to be so angry all the time.
and yet the world is silent…
Reblog to spread this. This isn’t something to keep silent on.
I would never want somethin like that to happen! Hell, i condemn it. But … I try to at least keep myself informed a little bit. Are there any good sources for this?
Here (The Atlantic)
Here (Washington Post)
Here (The Guardian)
Here (Independent)
Sources above are accurate and working. I have listed the above sources in chronological order, as well as adding sources I have found. The sources found by fandoms-of-a-tired-ravenclaw are marked with an asterisk (*)

Action:
Here is a fundraiser started by an Uyghur with the aim to “ to start an organization, aim to seek practical action in Finnish foreign ministry, in the European Parliament and commission, to pressure the Chinese government to stop the concentration camp, stop the genocide of Uyghur Muslims. ”
The goal has been met, but the fundraiser ends October 31st, 2018.

As I’ve posted things on here before about Chinese minority ethnicities, some of them traditionally Muslim, it seemed this was something I should also include.

a guide on men's bathrooms
lemme tell you, when you start passing and trying out this scary ass world you gotta prepare- so here’s a list of stuff to watch out for
• don’t look at the urinal with profound bewilderment (trust me, it’s an URGE) • when a man nods at you while takin a thicc piss, nod back. idk why, it’s secret cis code • man says ‘how’s it goin?’ don’t hesitate, put on your best Straight Male™ voice and say ‘it’s goin.’ • usually this will be garnered with a gruff laugh, don’t smile or they will smell your humanity!! wash your hands and go bud. • don’t act like you ain’t meant to be there, you’re prolly more of a man than any of those fuckers so stand tall and stand proud • if someone glances at you weird, rather than thinking ‘shit im not passing’ realize that it’s probably just that you were so handsome that you just gave a guy his awakening!! congrats!!! • don’t back down. you both reaching to get that piece of paper towel first? be fast. be bold. crush your enemies. • a group of swanky men come in laughing? avoid. • business men? avoid. • friendly men? approach with caution. • nervous boy™? congrats you’ve found your kin!!! bless!!! • above all, don’t be too scared. it is horrifying at first but i promise you you are looking super manly today!! strut into that bathroom!! those losers that say dumb shit?? break their faces with a mirror!! • you got this!! you are valid my lovely masc-identifying humans!!
The best advice I can ever give someone is ACT LIKE YOU BELONG THERE. Seriously. If people think you know what you’re doing they will leave you alone. Go in, do your bizz, get out. Act with purpose and if you make eye contact give a nod and move on.
White Dress by MelanoidInk
I was watching Pokémon: Indigo League on Netflix and the Pokédex called Kakuna a “transitional Pokémon”
and then suddenly this happened
so this post is officially 4 years old today. it’s far and away my most popular drawing, so much so that even now, it gets tons of notes and reblogs every day. i appreciate that! it’s exciting and I’m glad so many people like my idea and designs. as a trans person myself, seeing other people commenting on which Evolution they’re at and how much they identify with my designs makes me feel amazing! i feel like i’m giving back to my community and really helping people.
the problem however is that because of its popularity, this is also my most stolen and reposted work. i’ve seen my signature erased or cropped out more times than I can count, everywhere from Facebook to Twitter to Reddit to Instagram. recently people have started editing the picture for phone backgrounds and lockscreens, which I don’t support at all. i would’ve been happy to design custom lockscreens for these people, as I am a commission artist, but it’s easier for people to just photoshop my art. I can’t stop that.
it does hurt though.
so i just want to ask, if you like this work, if you’ve seen it floating around out there without credit to me, if it means something to you… consider buying me a Ko-Fi? i’d really appreciate it.
xx
Reblogging to boost and support the original artist.
I honestly hate how art and media have kind of romanticized the idea of like “going off your meds and being your true self again” because like I started taking antidepressants and like immediately got a new job, found a place to live, improved my relationships with people in my life and completely reconciled with my sort of estranged ex-girlfriend?? Medication can be rad and while I realize that it’s not for everybody I don’t think anything should be trying to convince anyone that being on medication inherently makes you less of who you are
(Most) Medication is for helping you to be you again. The real me isn’t tired by just walking to the train station. The real me is not my anxiety or depression. They don’t define me.
The real me is who I am when I’m not anxious and feeling worthless 24/7.
Medication is supposed to be the chemical equivalent of glasses or a wheelchair, depending on the severity of impairment. It tries to help you compensate for what has been taken, been broken, or is missing.
In particular, i always hear the myth that anti-depressants give you “artificial happiness”… no, no, no. They give your brain the ability to be happy. You won’t always be happy, and sometimes you’ll be sad. But the happiness you’re able to feel when you’re on meds is your own, real, happiness.
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE NEUROTYPICALS IN THE BACK!!!
I mean this is important for neurotypicals but it’s honestly more important for people who struggle with mental illness and hate being on meds for a variety of reasons (aka me).
Take away med stigma! Don’t deny yourself something that can help you live a more fulfilling life and don’t shame people for their choices!
Oh they’re going to need salvation.
Not just making it illegal, but making being gay punishable with death.
This is one of the many reasons why I walk by every single red bucket in the run-up to Christmas. They’re not getting my money, I don’t care how nice the people ringing bells are.
Ever since the time they threatened to close all their soup kitchens in NYC if a law that did something as simple as allow companies to extend spousal benefits to their employee’s same-sex domestic partners I have refused to buy from them or donate to them.
It’s that time of year again! In case people don’t know… the Salvation Army is shitty peoples.
Also, the married women are not paid (and therefore can’t qualify for assistance if they should ever divorce, etc). And worth “of course” less than a man.
“ In the Army’s case, the agreement for compensation is that the officer allowance be paid jointly to the husband—the check is written in his name. Officially, the wife is a “worker without expectation of remuneration,” and her husband receives 40 percent more of an allowance as a married man than he would as a single man. “
