It had taken weeks to set up this ritual space- most of that time taken up by countless hours of research. Not that Rune particularly minded- the research was half the fun, after all. Now came the other half.
Rune stood in front of an intricately drawn pentagram, centered in their living room floor. Their cabin wasn’t exactly large, so they had to move most of their furniture to the side to make it fit. They walked around the pentagram one more time, making sure each sigil was drawn exactly as their research had described. Finally fully satisfied with their work, they grabbed a parchment from a nearby chair and began to carefully read it aloud.
The pentagram began to glow brighter and brighter while the rest of the room darkened, then began shaking violently. Rune grinned, and their glowing golden eyes held an excitement that could be read, and has before been read, as akin to madness. An unseen yet powerful energy swirled around the room, causing their cape to billow in a nonexistant wind before violently tearing off from its clasp. The entire cabin hummed with the beautifully familiar echoes of the dark arts.
It was working- it was finally working!
They were summoning an angel!
Elsewhere–Sanguis Selenis retired to their bedroom.
They donned their nightgown, which tied at their chest and hung comfortably loose for them to lay in. With a huff, they rolled over onto their bedsheets. A hand rested near their face.
Sanguis watched the light of the lamp play off their hand. The reflected glow, to their perplexment, grew in magnitude. This light stretched up their fingers, lighting in a new vibrancy of its own. Sanguis sat up and lifted both hands, where on each did the light erupt and chase up their limbs. They felt no familiar magic of theirs on the skin–and faster the light enveloped them–
The note of their scream did not resound in their bedchamber. It rang out in a new room–Sanguis knew by the new whirl of noise and light that they no longer sat at home. They stood on a wood floor and held their place, knowing at least this certainty. When the light died down. Sanguis found themself staring at a stranger.
Silence, save for the heaving breath from their chest.
“I …was going…to…bed.”
With one last burst of light, the ritual was complete. The magical energies were calmed, save for the small wisps that only one with experience, such as Rune, could still sense. Their breath was also heavy, although from excitement rather than fear. They looked at their new arrival, eyes widened with the excitement one might see from a child in a candy store. For a moment they didn't say anything, simply looking the angel over, taking a tentative step closer. The angel towered over them, which wasn't unexpected- the see through chest was a bit unexpected, however. Although with all of the things they had heard about angels, this one was more humanoid than some others they had heard of. One of the angels depicted in their research had simply been an amalgamation of rings. At least this one should be easier to communicate with, hopefully.
Still- they had done it! Rune grinned, revealing their fangs. "I did it- it worked, I summoned an angel!" Rune ran a clawed hand through their white hair, taking a step back to gather their thoughts, still looking the angel over. "You're really here, you're-!" A pause.
Ah. They should probably introduce themselves. "Oh, right- Rune." They gestured to themselves. "Hope you don't mind the summoning. Swear I won't keep you long."
