His words stir some disinterest at first, simply because it’s not quite the answer she’s hoping for. But it’s an understandable thought. None of them really wants to sacrifice their life so readily, except perhaps the senpais. But they’re in a league of their own, honestly. Their dedication to this is strong, which only adds more to her suspicions.
“You sure? Because you sure seem excited about it when you first joined. Remember all that, ‘Why is he leader?’ crap you were getting mad about?”
She refrains from laughing; only a small chuckle escapes her. But as she fiddles with her nails, digging out the dirt from it, she pauses upon hearing her words. Her eyes widen briefly before she turns away and brushes a strand of hair behind her ear.
“I agree, but– why don’t you trust Mitsuru-senpai? I would have thoughtt you liked her - and every other girl, but still…”
“Yeah, well there’s just something about her that I’m not so sure I like. I feel like she’s not about to risk her life to save people she’s only just getting to know.”
Mitsuru was beautiful and Junpei was able to recognize that fact at least but his worries outweighed his attraction this time. Butwhen it came to contradicting his past feelings about S.E.E.S. even he wasn’t so sure what made him change his mind. He wanted to help others who weren’t even aware of the Dark Hour and couldn’t fight Shadows for themselves but why should he have to risk his life for this?
It was incredible selfish but who could blame him? High school students weren’t meant to fight monsters in the middle of the night in a labyrinth tower and especially weren’t supposed to get lost in it.
“I thought it’d be a good idea but I’m being told I have to follow a near-stranger into a monster- infested tower and risk my life doing it? I thought it would be just a little bit enjoyable but there’s nothing fun about this...”
