have to give a lot of credit to kazuki takahashi, whose high school horror manga got turned into an enormous commercial trading card vehicle by his editorial powers, and still he managed to tell extremely compelling stories about our connections to each other, the value and power of our connections, the process of actualizing and becoming THROUGH our connections, the difficulties of processing grief, trauma, abandonment, identity, etc. AND he did all of this through some absolutely fucking insane trading card duels
