Here’s a review I wrote for Planetmosh, of Obscura’s technical death metal disc, Akroasis.
Sometimes, a band’s release creeps under the radar, and it’s fun to write a retrospective review. I did this for PlanetMosh. This “tbt” or “retro” review was the case for Wasted Youth’s Get Out of My Yard! release, which may or may not have spurred guitar virtuoso Paul Gilbert to title his debut ~2006 instrumental release by the same name.

Compelling and catchy, Iggy Pop’s Post Pop Depression offers nine new fine, brooding, dark ‘adult alt rock’ tracks from Pop and an A-List backing band (Joshua Homme, Dean Fertita, Matt Helders) that may be his final recorded rock music.
While Post Pop Depression has been billed as a collaboration, it’s Iggy Pop‘s name on the album’s marquee and spine. Producer, multi-instrumentalist, and co-writer Joshua Homme and Pop are both revered musicians and celebrated collaborators in their own realms.
