Lots has been going on here...way too much to put into one post! Classes have started and are pretty good so far. The one I am taking with Michigan students is about Spain during the Franco era, which I've never learned about in detail so I am enjoying it so far. Lots of work though! The others are with the University of Salamanca. My teacher for the conversation one is crazy (ala Senora Schafer in high school), but very entertaining and fun. For the literature class, we are only reading works associated with Salamanca! So either the writer lived here, died here, studied here, taught here or was inspired by Salamanca. I really didn't know how influential Salamanca was back in the 15th and 16th century. This city had one of the very first universities and was funded by the Royal Catholic kings and queens. For that class we get to walk around and see the places mentioned in the literature or where the teacher taught. Que guay! Which means how cool!
We also had the fantastic game against Italy! Our whole group went across the river to a small town nearby to watch the game. They set up a big screen in a tent and tons and tons of people were there. Super fun of course!
I'll save the rest for another post!
