Okay i need to talk about Robby and Dana's argument in the latest episode bc this is pissing me off.

People are all for men’s mental health getting more visibility and awareness but the moment they see a character being rude or apathetic because of their struggles then suddenly they don’t deserve help and they deserve to die?? Like i understand were Dana is coming from and I know he needed to hear it but this was the worst time and way to do it. I'm not blaming Dana either, she had her own stuff going on, but i can recognize that that conversation should’ve happened differently.

Depression and SI affects everyone differently and sometimes it makes it so that people are so wrapped up in their own shit they just don’t have the energy to care about other people's shit. This doesn’t make what Robby did okay, and it doesn’t mean the people affected by it can’t be pissed off, but us viewers should have the hindsight and detachment necessary to recognize that behavior for what it is.

There doesn’t always have to be a villain, sometimes well meaning characters do shit and hurt eachother because they're struggling, that doesn’t make them bad or undeserving of help.

So for the people saying "Robby is pissing me off I don’t even care anymore if he kills himself", you are the problem, you can’t pick and choose which mental health struggles you care about.

CALLING ALL BUDDIE FANFIC WRITERS

I just watched the hitch-hiker (the 1953 one) for my film classes and I NEED a buddie fanfic with this exact plot. It’s a film noir where the plot is two guys on a roadtrip who pick up a hitch hiker who ends up being a serial killer and who takes them hostage and forces them to drive him to mexico.

I don’t want to spoil it too much cause it actually is a good movie and it’s only 1h11 but if you're looking for ideas for a buddie fic pls pls pls watch this movie, the fanfic writes itself.

(Important plotlines include one of them being fluent in spanish, one getting hurt and the other putting his life in danger helping him, the two silently plotting an escape, the police's search being complicated by the fact they lied to their family about where they were going, the police actually being competent (where athena comes in), and the killer calling them out on the fact at least one could’ve escaped already if they weren’t so insistent on sticking together)

Tldr: watch the hitch-hiker (1953), replace the main characters with buck and eddie and you've got yourself the best buddie fanfic ever
