I believe Jean is 100% redeemable, there's people in Marvel who've done worse, I just hope they address it and don't gloss over that she's done bad things and that she has to atone for it, "it was for her sister." hurting innocents, SA'ing Peter and MJ, and stealing people's autonomy is not justifiable, her rage is understandable but not her actions, it's like Magneto, his intentions are noble but they're still fueled by rage and he wants to hurt others to get his way, since this is before the X-Men are formed, I assume she'll learn once she meets the other mutants and has someone to properly help her
Agreed. She can be redeemed for sure but her actions absolutely cannot get glossed over. I hate when that happens in other movies.
Unfortunately the more I think about it, the more I really begin to dislike MCU Jean Grey and the fans absolving her of her actions. She and her sister possessed people’s minds and used their bodies. She injured so many people and possibly killed that man. She’s just as bad as Metzger and the Damage Control, using people without their consent for her own reasons. Even though the reason was good (saving her sister), it doesn’t change what she’s done. “But she’s a sad white girl so we have to stan-“ NO! I need her to feel deep deep remorse for what she’s done and actually apologize to all the people she’s hurt. And the fans acting like she did nothing wrong, don’t even start.
So are we just going to pretend that what Jean Grey did here wasn't sexual assault? She kissed him and he only kissed her back because he thought that she was MJ. Just because Peter extended empathy towards her at the end doesn't mean that he's not a victim, and I am NOT falling for the "found family" propaganda between these two. And don't play the "she's a minor!!" card, I'm a minor as well and I still think that what she did was bullshit.
Thunderbolts* regressed every character on the team who made it to the end of the movie, and killed another character for no other reason than to appease the worst part of the fandom. So it’s honestly unbelievable to me that anybody who actually likes any of the characters — not just likes looking at the actors and actresses who portray them, or likes writing smutty fanfics about them, or likes writing nonsensical found family fanfics about them, but, you know, actually likes the characters themselves, could’ve possibly enjoyed that movie.
Every time I think about it, the movie gets worse.
As much as I found the “small potatoes, big potatoes” part funny, I still can’t take the “new avengers” seriously. And it’s odd that Yelena would think that her team is above the radar of a man (Spider-Man) who could kick every one of their asses easily. And I’m not including Bob because it was heavily implied that Bob doesn’t work with them.
spiderman brand new day and the importance of care. mj not loving peter due to not knowing him, but still caring about him enough to invite him up, to draw him, to send frank to watch him, to give him advice and be concerned. ned not remembering what spiderman means to him, but trying to find him anyway to thank him. frank worrying about this kid who is determined to save everybody he possibly could. peter caring about jean grey, taking a bullet for her despite almost all his interactions with her being antagonistic, because she exists, and she deserves so much better. jean crying over peter getting shot, because he was kind and promised to be there for her and made good on that promise immediately, even though she ended up there because of him. new york and their care for spidey.
peter parker and his care for everybody- his family, his friends, people he has never met, people who have continually tried to hurt him.

I do want to say something essential about this scene. Yes, he was losing it over Annabeth being hurt. But. This would have been his reaction if it was Tyson or Grover. Because this is Percy and this is his flaw and if anybody he loves is in danger, he literally cannot handle it. So yes, we got a Percabeth scene but that’s not necessarily because of romantic love. It’s just love. In its purest, most undefined and unadulterated form.
It's funny how Percy's priority was Annabeth and Clarisse's was the fleece, but it was Percy who ended up confronting Luke for the fleece, and Clarisse who fought to protect Annabeth.
It's wonderful how the series establishes these dynamics and motivations within the team and allows them to reveal more about themselves than that.
Because yes, Percy would sacrifice the world if it meant saving someone he loves, but at the same time, he doesn't actively want the world to be destroyed, so when the opportunity presents itself to be a good person, to be a hero, but without putting the people he loves in danger, he seizes it.
Because yes, Clarisse is a camper trained to prioritize the success of her battles over the risks and, to some extent, the lives of those around her, but at the same time, she is loyal and cares about those who fight alongside her, so if she finds an opportunity to help an ally without sacrificing the success of the battle, she doesn't hesitate to come to their aid.
The choice to balance Percy and Clarisse's strengths and weaknesses was, for me, the highlight of this season in terms of character dynamics.

We need to see actors just being people! It would help a lot with some of the parasocial stuff where people treat actors like their characters. Like, yeah, they are acting, but at the end of the day, they are just people. Bloopers are also just so dang fun. I miss them a lot.
Oh and also! Behind the scenes!! I don't care that it "ruins the magic" or whatever, it builds respect for film and everyone and everything that goes into it! People need to SEE art and appreciate the people that make it exist. I am not kidding; I think it could save art from being seen as just a product.

YES YES YES. THIS is why a certain brand of Online Anarchist sets my teeth directly on edge. (Most of the IRL anarchists I organize with understand this principle. They may have patches SAYING “burn it all down” and writing zines about how to overthrow the government, but they’re also out there every day making sure our unhoused neighbors are getting fed and clothed & taking care of chronically ill comrades)
Anyway. I don’t care about your 5 point manifesto on how evil the government is. I want to see your 100page plan for how to feed, clothe, and house the elderly, disabled, and children without a government funded social safety-net, with at least 20 pages on how to make the transition from whatever inadequate system we have now to the brilliant community-focused system you envision for the glorious future. Sure burn it all down if you must, but how do you plan for my son to eat every day in the meantime?
Yes! This right here. And admittedly all the “burn it down, don’t care about the vulnerable” people I’ve interacted with have been online. I’m sure many activists know how to take care of the vulnerable while also taking down the system.
