I've spent a lot of my time on tumblr today not reading past the first paragraph of posts about the finale. I didn't feel strongly about it one way or the other and frankly I don't need to read anyone convincing me to go one way or the other. I only ever watched s2 a bare handful of times and wandered out of the fandom for the most part not long after it came out. anything past s1 never felt like real canon to me so I'm just not here to take any of it too seriously. I'll take what Terry gave us and the season of the show based on that and the rest is just very fancy fanfiction.
yeah I enjoyed it pretty well. yeah it had some issues. but yeah in my case it's extremely tenuously canon in the first place so I'm not here to make a fuss in either direction about it.
My opinion about GO3 is irrelevant but can we celebrate one excellent thing that came out of this 10 years roller fucking coaster : David Tennant and Michael Sheen. The fact that this story brought them together, that they and their respective people love hanging out, love working together. There is love. Here they are holding hands on their lil chairs at the end of it all. They are fantastic actors. I hope there will be more pieces of media with them in the future.
NG (fuck NG) thought of a book plot where a demon finds himself in The Omen movie. But he screws up the baby switch. And the Antichrist grew up as a character in a Richmal Crompton novel.
He didn't know what to do with it next.
TP offered to buy the story. He changed the demon into a demon and an angel defying their bosses on the earth they both loved. He added his smart whimsy and gave the story a moral core far beyond a silly spoof.
When the story was written, queer kids saw themselves in the angel and demon based on the subtext. Because they lived in subtext.
Gender fluid and trans readers created stories about an angel and demon for whom gender was a choice depending on how or whether they decided to make an effort.
The strangeness of fitting into a planet dominated by beings the angel and demon differed from spoke to neurodivergent readers.
Religious readers found healing after years of struggling to make sense of doctrine divorced from morality.
Some ace and aro readers saw the deep and meaningful relationship beyond romance between a pair together over 6000 years.
And tons of horny people from all walks of life poured their hearts into smut that made the most of beings whose bodies allowed for a range of sexual practice that would never be realistic for humans.
People who felt rejected or unloved because they were "too much" or "too little", took solace from an angel who didn't mind the gruffness of the demon who couldn't bear to be cruel. And the demon who liked the angel being a little bit of a bastard. If an angel and demon could care for and accept each other for themselves, perhaps it could happen for them too?
This is why the Good Omens fandom is so special. Transformation has been baked into his story from the very beginning.
Biblical fan fiction, a collaborative story by two authors, a tv show/movie brought to life by a team of actors, designers, writers...
And now also entire worlds of fan fiction and art. Good Omens continues to transform itself and the people who love it. And it will always be ours as we continue to transform it for generations to come.
You know who would love it if we became a fractured-beyond-repair fandom? If we became a fandom who harasses people?
That Fucking Man.
So. Hate the finale, love the finale, be somewhere in the middle about the finale, headcanon the finale away—
But be kind to each other.
And be kind to the cast, crew, and other people who worked under VERY tough circumstances with what they were given. Or at the least, simply avoid interacting with those folks.
(The only one we don’t need to be kind to is That Man)
Please, please, speak kindly and respectfully to, and about, each other. Everyone who’s not harassing someone has some kind of valid point. Everyone feeling strong emotions is valid in those feelings. Avoid content that throws off your equilibrium, but comfort each other whenever you can.
The real Good Omens always were the friends we made along the way. Let’s stay that way. To our world. 🤍🥂🖤

How much does shipping cost?
For US residents, bundles will cost a flat fee of $13. They will ship via media mail through USPS.
For anyone outside of the US, shipping has been estimated through the cheapest carrier, most likely MEEST or EMS Parcel Post. Unfortunately, I cannot control the cost of shipping, and I know that it is extraordinarily high. The bundles will weigh anywhere between 4-6+ lbs, which is expensive to ship.
Wait, I'm from the US. Why am I paying more for Media Mail?
While Media Mail typically would cost $8-9, the increased price is to offset international orders, whose shipping will cost anywhere from $45-70 with the discount. I hope you understand. I want to make this as accessible as I can without personally eating any costs. I am not making any profit off of this project.
When do orders ship?
Once pre-orders close on 6/30, I will order the books. There is typically a 2-4 week turn around for them to be printed and delivered to me. I then have to package and ship everything from my house. I will also be out of town in August for 10 days to attend TIC7, but I hope to have all orders shipped by September 1st.
US mail should take 2-8 days. International orders can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, so please be patient.
What percent of proceeds are going to RAINN?
100%! This excludes the cost of printing and shipping. For reference, the first print run cost $1,254 for the books alone, not including shipping and packaging supplies. Anything remaining goes directly to charity. I am not keeping any costs for labor or making any profit on this.
Shipping will take 6-8 weeks after preorders close on 6/30. I will need to submit the order and wait for it to be delivered to my house before preparing shipping. Depending on the quantity of orders, it will take me a while to ship everything out!
*INTERNATIONAL ORDERS OUTSIDE OF THE US:* Orders will be shipped through EMS or Meest for the most cost-effective shipping. Shipping will take additional 2-4 weeks. If you would prefer to ship through USPS or UPS, please contact me directly at ni.scribes [!at] gmail.com. This may increase the cost of shipping by $20-30. Etsy handles calculating VAT. You will also be responsible for any additional tariffs upon arrival.
*Group Orders* If you are interested in connecting with others in your area to do a group order, please contact me BEFORE you orders so I can help find others who are interested. This can help with the cost of shipping. Email me at ni.scribes [!at] gmail.com
*TIC7* If you plan to be at The Ineffable Con this year, I may also be able to deliver the books to you in-person! Let me know, and I will create a separate listing for you that factors out shipping.

Good Omens came out on 31 May 2019, and from that moment on, a lot of people's lives changed. Mine certainly did. Among the many things this series brought into my life, joining the fandom gave me the chance to learn more about aspects of humanity I hadn't had much exposure to before. It gave me the opportunity to explore the many nuances of sexuality, gender identity, and the different forms that love can take, in short, the endless variety of what it means to be human. I learned. I read. I listened. I observed. I understood. It opened my mind even further. And I carried those lessons into my everyday life and my work. I've been able to support people, push for changes in my workplace to make inclusion something real rather than just an assumption, and become a better version of myself. I hope, in some small way, I've helped make life a little better for others too. Whatever people may think about the controversies surrounding Season 3, no one can take this away from me: Good Omens made me a better person.
Moomintroll cleared his throat and felt very proud.
"Oh, everything," he said. "Stars, for example!"
Snufkin was deeply impressed.
"Stars!" he exclaimed. "Then I must come with you. Stars are my favorite things. I always lie and look at them before I go to sleep, and wonder who is on them and how one could get there. The sky looks so friendly with all those little eyes twinkling in it.”
Would it have been so hard to give us something like this? Give them this one, small moment to express their love for each other?
Don’t get me wrong, I kind of grew fond of the hand kiss gesture. But in the Bookshop Garden, when they had privacy - probably for the first time ever - I really grieve a heartfelt conversation; about the things they did wrong, about their affection, about their options. About the reasons why they decided to choose humanity over their own happiness *sigh*
So I chose to give them this hug. We all need this. I will continue drawing moments like this ♥️😭
Interpretations of the Good Omens book, particularly the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley, as being an allegory for Cold War era tensions and not a book about romance and love are funny to me because. It's both. It's both. It's ALWAYS been both. That's the POINT.
The choices made by Sir Terry when writing about Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship are extremely deliberate. All of the symbolism and metaphors have double meanings. Because they're spies. They speak in coded language. Everything is shrouded in plausible deniability. It's extremely clever, and it's a very, very loving depiction of homosexuality in a time period that was desperately cruel to queer people.
Take the excerpt about the Gavotte, for example. Aziraphale learns it in a discreet gentleman's club, aka a gay club, in the 1880's. And this is important. People who've seen the show likely know the context of the gavotte as the "kissing dance" whereby people dance with a partner and then kiss at the end, or exchange flowers. That would be the pre-19th century Gavotte. The 19th century Gavotte was more like a military-style march, and it's described as a dance used in events revolving around martial prowess and national pride.
I thought it was extremely cute that the book, when describing whether or not Angels could dance, went out of its way to be like "HYPOTHETICALLY Aziraphale CAN dance on the head of a pin... Only the Gavotte. But he'd need a partner that could also HYPOTHETICALLY fit on the head of a pin. Have we mentioned that demons love to dance and can fit on the head of a pin?"
Again, Aziraphale and Crowley act in ways around each other that exude plausible deniability. It's showing that they got together for business reasons but have a deeper desire to be with each other romantically. But because of their jobs, they can't be open about this at all. In fact, they would quite literally be destroyed. This is a DIRECT commentary on how LGBTQ people were treated at the time. Thatcher-era laws against homosexuality made tons of people retreat to the closet, lest they lose their jobs, be outed to their families and cut off, or worse. Homosexuality was technically decriminalized at the time, but the social implications of being gay were so extreme that it might as well as have been illegal still.
I have shitloads more examples if anyone wants me to go on a spiral about it, but this was a big one that I felt was easiest to pinpoint my thoughts about.
