I NEED to yap about the fanfic I read few months ago. It’s beautiful.

Coexistence is Boredom - Sakurazukamori6, 33 chapters and ongoing, 200k+ words, LxRxL, mature.

Absolutely endearing writing. Story set after Higuchi arrest, just after Light regains his memories. They move to Paris after being informed of the existence of another notebook in France. Starting with the shenanigans set in the city of Paris. Lots of french, very alive chemistry, romance(?), they’re really freaky, and they’re both very in love with each other. It gets really dark in the middle(torture).

The first half was everything I wished for, absolutely perfect. Lawlight being silly, while the plot keeps moving, towards the inevitable path to catastrophe. Great ending of the first portion before the whole mood of the fic actively changes.

And then I found the dead dove in the bag, which wasn’t labeled bc ffnet lacks such sufficient tagging system. I haven’t been able to recover from being jumped by it ever since. Anyways, am planning to read the rest after recovering sufficiently. Also, interesting character interpretations. Could agree to most of it.

(Spoilers!) the part that was so scrumptious:

L taught him how to kill a person with a gun, and with that exact method Light killed someone

“When firing, always take two shots, one after the other – preferably to the head, since bulletproof vests are quite sturdy. Two quick shots to the head also ensure that the person won't get back up again," L briefed. He then handed the gun over to him .”

Few chapters later

“Raito narrowed his eyes and without even a second thought, he swiftly reached into the waistband of his slacks, pulled out the gun tucked away there and shot Rene two times in the back of the head.”

Like omg that is the hottest thing I’ve ever read.

I’ve only read half of the fic but still I can say for sure that this fic is a masterpiece. Definitely recommended!!

i finally picked up this sketch again it's been sitting in my unfinished drawings for WEEKS

"Light did all of that just because he was bored"

Which isn't wrong, but I just wanted to elaborate my interpretation of his 'boredom', bc I saw this tendency of his character getting frequently and sincerely flattened by certain aspects getting ignored.

Well, in this defense, he was not just bored. He was terribly bored, Lack of peers, not even the remotely close experience of interaction with or the knowledge of existence that people who can match him does exists, his entire life. So lifelong isolation, chronic mask wearing, not to mention that in the very start of the show he was depressed bc of the lack of stimulation that was needed for him, did have influence to his mental stability. Aka, he already had depression.

And this is where death note comes in.

Death note did two things for him, which is 1. made Light who is a very righteous person do what he thinks is terribly wrong out of curiosity. From the moment the checked that death note actually kills, he panics bc how different is he from the people he put behind bars? Layer of protection he felt between thhose irredeemable, horrendus people and himself, who is righteous, thinned so uncomfortably that he coped by using 'greater good' and 'godhood' as the justification of his actions. That he is different from those appalling crimedoers bc he is a 'god' that doesn't kill, but 'punishes'. 2. it gave him a tangible reason to keep going, even through his depression. He had to keep punishing the evil to separate himself from it bc it felt too dangerously close, too similar. First driven by the frenzy of guilt and panic, and when L entered the picture, when he challenged that he is 'evil', when they started to play whatever game they play, it was the first time in his life that Light Yagami met his peer, from his initial life of unintended alienation. Therefore, saving him from the terrible boredom, the painful depression, both the note and L.

When I first watched Death Note and got to the mafia arc, I remember being so confused as to why the fuck there was a shot of a missile going off and a helicopter exploding. I kept going back and forth and rewatched the scene because this is just so... surreal?? 😭 a missile?? That's certainly something you just have access to 😭

I was recently thinking about it and kept wondering, "How did Mello even come up with that??" So heres my dumb interpretation of how it went lol

I can imagine Mello getting very creative almost crazy ideas whenever he gets high lol Matt really helped him out! :D
