Silly Game Time: WEIRD BATTLE OF THE BANDS! Silly Game Time: Coming up with a fitting name for an original character is one of the trickiest parts of character creation. Yet I think it's also one of the most fun challenges! So what do you think would be a good name for a character associated with water?

This could be based on literally anything, including just vibes. But ideas could come from mythology (gods and spirits and heroes and monsters from different cultures). Or history (figures who famously studied or thought about or worked on water). Or media (many different stories, games, and movies have characters, classes, and species who are connected with oceans, lakes, and rivers). Or simple word association derivatives (for example, with "fire" you could get "combustion", which could then give Combu, Ombust, Stion, Costio, etc.).

What do you think could be an interesting variation to this trope? It doesn't need to be elaborate or surprising or original, just something that might appeal to you personally.)

There are nature spirits who protect various regions, but the twist is humans forgot they exist because the spirits became things like traffic patterns, electrical hums, city infrastructure etc

It turns “nature spirit” from something mystical and visible into something ambient and half-dead like the spirit of a river becoming the sound of pipes in apartment walls, or a forest spirit surviving as static in power lines built over the trees it used to protect.

People could still make offerings to spirits without realizing it like coins tossed into fountains, stickers on utility poles, locks on bridges, roadside memorials y’know

It also creates the cool question of whether the spirits adapted to survive… or whether humans accidentally transformed them into something unnatural RAHHHRAHH they hate us🫪

I think maybe an 8, especially dystopian. Mainly cuz of how it mixes imagination with big ideas.

A lot of sci-fi stories are really about people, society, fear, identity, power, or the future but they just use space, technology, aliens, dystopias, or alternate worlds to dramatize and put things into a better light. It lets you escape reality without fully leaving human problems behind
