Though Kyouka was technically right to break through Rudo's 'righteous' anger by pointing out what it could've cost him, and Rudo becoming more than his angry impulses and having to make up for them and growing as a person is Gachiakuta's whole thesis, I can't find it in me to be gracious about her telling a kid to his face that it's his fault his mentor (would've) died.

I think part of it is that it's a stark contrast to the Cleaners' approach to the lessons Rudo needs to learn. An approach that works extremely well for him, too. They don't put the blame on him and make him feel like shit so he's afraid of doing the wrong thing; they explain what's flawed in how he's doing things, and then why he would benefit from changing, and then they commend him for deciding to change and grow. It's a process that also increases his self confidence and desire to change, instead of relying on fear to stop him from acting.

(We see how well that fear works for Zanka. Not at all lol)

And like, I understand her methods. They make sense. And giving teens harsh wake up calls when they fuck up with lives on the line is also understandable.

But she’s still using a traumatizing set of circumstances to take Rudo away from his support network so she can get what she wants out of him, and she's still the woman who has tortured someone on screen to get information out of them. She's still the woman who fucked Zanka up so bad that he's incapable of breaking through his limits for fear of even that not being enough for the people around him.
