Degrassi is so ameezing bc it frames itself as a very anti racist work and is like “if you’re racist you should kill yourselffff” and like tea. But then the show itself is like insanely racist in the way it sidelines all it’s black characters and almost only allows all their storylines to be about racism…. There’s just like this dissonance between what they’re saying and what they’re actually show and they don’t realize it at all and it drives me so insane. They also do this with bisexuality in Next Class where they’re like “biphobia is wrong. PERIOD!” But then their only bisexual character is constantly clowned on for being a manwhore and then cheats on his boyfriend with a girl who gets pregnant. It’s just incredible how nobody behind the show seems to have any media literacy when the whole point of the show is showing the consequences of ur actions.
