Not to be that one friend who's too woke, but I feel like images and memes such as this really detract from the meaningfulness of the cause. It reminds me heavily of the "hello kitty says acab" meme in the sense that making memes out of really serious concerns detracts from the actual severity and tragedy of what's going on in the US right now. I'm sure many people have seen those shitty tiktok comments with corny ass reaction memes in response to genuine tragedies. Things like this are the reason why people don't take the left seriously. A large stereotype of leftist online spaces is that they take small issues too seriously and large issues not seriously enough. When someone responds to a post about a hurtful, but ultimately meaningless, occurance or some call to cancel a celebrity for not being woke enough by saying that there are more important issues and that people are dying, THESE ARE THE ISSUES THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. What ICE is doing to both undocumented immigrants and legal protestors is a gross violation of human rights and decency, and connecting it to a meme about a children's show does absolutely nothing but make a degree of separation between oneself and the actual incident, creating a perceived moral high ground while ultimately hurting the cause by assigning it to an inherently non–serious format. This isn't to say that posting memes like these is a moral failing, but perhaps an action that should receive a little more thought. There's a time and place for political humor, and I don't believe this is either.
