Idk who needs to hear this and I'm sure it's already a widely shared sentiment but if you are using AI chatbots for roleplay / emotional attachment towards fictional characters of any kind you are Dying. I think if that technology was around when I was 12-15 would've become even more traumatized and isolated than I already became over my fictional character obsessions. I could hardly handle this technology 2 years ago and it still had a very bad addictive impact on me. not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!

Seriously we were given an assignment in class to do and easy little scavenger hunt on a historical event because class time was getting cut. The article practically spoon fed you answers. The teachers instructions were crystal clear. You didn’t even have to read the entire thing you could open your computer and use command-f to find the sections you need….

but no. I look up to check the time and see over half the class slowly writing down answers after asking chatGPT each one (I sit in the back corner so I can see everyone’s screens from where I am)
