“if you’re sensitive to sounds when sleeping, just use earplugs!” i cannot stress enough that the sensory feeling of having my ears fully blocked AND now being able to hear my own heartbeat and breathing and every other sound that’s happening inside my own body is a million times worse than whatever ambient noise may be keeping me awake
Silly Game Time: TWIST THAT TROPE! "The Fay (or Fairies) are real, but the twist is ___."
(Every story is made of tropes, just like how every sentence is made of words. Still, some tropes can feel a bit overused if a storyteller doesn't do something different with them. What do you think could be an interesting variation to this trope? It doesn't need to be elaborate or surprising or original, just something that might appeal to you personally.)
“I don’t do math because I’m gay” “the gays can’t do math” “If I explain math on tumblr I’ll lose my gay card” all of you apologize to Alan Turing right now
It’s literally been years since anyone added something slightly clever or original to this post, so I would like to congratulate you and maybe even bestow some kind of award. I don’t have anything to give you though
I have a challenge for any moots/followers I have (Or others who happen to see this) who haven't read Homestuck (Though only do this if you also aren't planning to read it, because it will contain spoilers)
Basically, the following link is to an animation that is played quite a bit into the webcomic, and one which probably won't make a lot of sense to someone who hasn't read it, so I want you to watch it (Either once or multiple times, your choice) and try to guess to the best of your ability what is happening from this video alone
Also flashing lights/eyestrain warning!!!!! Do not watch this if you are affected by such things!!!!!!!
T_T I wish bathroom-related disabilities weren’t still today the subject of so much baseless ableism and hatred.. When you learn that kind of shame, it can kill you. People think “it’s too embarrassing to be seen buying an enema, or to go to the ER and need a manual disimpaction. I’ll just wait this one out” and then the bowel perforates and that can kill you in no time at all. And a LOT of it is just because of the meaningless stigma surrounding something as universal and basic as.. peeing and pooping?? That’s insane! Everyone does it! Get over yourself and stop perpetuating shame!! Knowing someone has to wear a diaper will not kill you, but the embarrassment that person feels might just kill them!!
parents are allowed to straight-up torture their kids with zero consequences. they can withhold food and water, lock you out of shelter, confiscate your belongings, bar you from human contact, attack and harm you and exert complete control over your physical appearance. and this is just the norm. if you speak out against it you're seen as a delinquent or a predator. even otherwise progressive people get uncomfortable with the idea of dismantling the nuclear family unit because they still see it as the best way to keep kids safe when that simply couldn't be further from the truth. it's evil.
forgot that being obsessed with fictional characters is not something normal people do. I hear someone say they’re too obsessed with a fictional character and for a moment I’m like “???? and what about it? isn’t that like??? normal???” then I realize that for a lot of people, it’s not.
I genuinely cannot imagine not being obsessed with the characters from the media I hyperfixate on and I genuinely cannot imagine not having a piece of media to hyperfixate on 😭
STANDARD BOOK CHAPTERS ARE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 2000 AND 5000 WORDS, WITH 5000 BEING CONSIDERED A LONG CHAPTER.
CHANGE YOUR WORD DOCUMENT FORMAT TO A IMITATE A STANDARD BOOK TO SEE HOW MANY PAGES YOU HAVE ALREADY, YOU PROBABLY HAVE ALOT MORE THAN YOU THINK AND WE'RE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU <3
Edit: this is not saying word counts that are larger or smaller than this are bad or wrong in anyway shape or form! This is a reminder that you don't have to compare chapter lengths to book chapters because they're shorter than you think! Write your chapter and if you're happy with it, length doesn't matter! Write it and be proud you wrote it!
there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well
and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it
the researchers found that being online didnt make people more hostile, but that being online allowed already hostile people to dominate forum conversations, and the less aggressive people were much less likely to reply or engage, ending in just the aggressive people bickering at eachother
