“small thread on drawing plus sized characters!”

"youve already written that trope" yesss. i like it a lots. i will be writing it again. 1000 stories of the same trope over and over again for ten million years
”youve already drawn that character” yesss. i like them a lots. i will be drawing them again. 1000 drawings of the same character over and over again for ten million years
how do you pick your colors???? your art is SO breathtaking. do you think you'd ever post a speedpaint?
most importantly i help myself with gradient maps a lot! sometimes i use a LOT of tgem😭 so i basically start with colors that i somewhat want and then i put layers on that until im satisfied
i try to makecolor combos that are opposites on the color wheel thats why i very often go witg red and green or also blue and yellow, there are many possible color combinations
also i like when my drawing has main colors so for example there are only 4 colors and colors similar to them on the canvas (if that makes sense) for example this drawing is mostly blue, yellow/greenish color, and a color similar to orange
and this drawing is mostly yellow/brown, blue and red
thats what i do but many artist put a lot of colors on the canvas on purpose and go crazy and it alwats looks amazinf too so thats somethinf every artist has to figure out by tgemselves😭
i think its important to always check your values by seeing how the drawing looks in black&white! i personally like it when its very clear and the differences between colors are harsh and visible, some artists like it when everythinf kinda has a similar value so the colors look like theyre melting into each other!
this is the only drawinf i have saved on phone that is black and white😭 but yeah bascially
so whenever i see that the values in my drawinf are too similar i make sure to make something darker or lighter, very often just a white overlay helps!
also maybe if i figure out how to record a speedpaint i will post it haha im not the greatest with technology

Therians and otherkin are next!! (Usually I use YouTube videos as tutorials but I’m boycotting so I’m going to use Pinterest until cobalt download YouTube again)
moving ears tutorial (use freetube instead of youtube) bird wing tutorial Bunny ears tutorial puppy ear tutorial Kitty ears tutorial For coloring ears pointed elf ears bigger elf ears Antlers paper mache horn method hard horn method halo tutorial (use freetube instead of youtube so youtube doesnt track your information and you dont give youtube views)
speaking of horns if you use any prosthetics instead of the silicone adhesive things like prosaide spirit gum or even eyelash glue work well but the wig tape also works still because toupees are made of silicone so wig tape works on prosthetics also I know people make masks and stuff out of foam but I also heard they can be 3D printed and made out of material that doesn’t get as hot and sweaty
deer skull pattern bird mask pattern lion mask tutorial floppy dog ears on a mask tutorial mask tutorial(I’m assuming this is with Eva foam pieces and foam clay) 3D mask files(costs money and requires a 3D printer) fur fabric and feathers can be glued to printed masks also you can use foam to carve out scales. or just sand and paint the masks
for sculpting masks and ears the cheapest and easiest way is cardboard or Eva foam sheets and you can also sculpt on that foam with foam clay with is compatible with Eva foam that wasn’t explained in there but I figured it was worth mentioning contacts, Big black eyes contacts smaller medium big (for seals or other animals with huge black eyes) big blue all of these ones below are like cat eye or lizard eye types yellow blue another blue green white red gold with blue rim yellow and red orangy gold blue and red big yellow big green big red depending on if you get disposible contacts or not you might need those(which can also be bought in corner stores like cvs) eyedrops and contact solution lense cases
fang tutorial for whiskers youd use that clear elastic string people use for bralet making youd have to get this at a local craft store you could also use clear elastic thread for thinner whiskers and you can use the eyebrow section of the owl tutorial to make eyebrows and feather pieces or scales, or use this scale tutorial anywhere like your cheekbones or the sides of your face etc and another for dragon scales
paw gloves tutorial Gradient arms with claws converse claws converse paw print foxfires fantasy paw and foot pattern(this would cost money)
snail shell and eyes entire owl, arm wings, headpiece and feathered eyebrows (again use freetube) Articulated wings out of umbrella (you can use freetube to avoid youtubes tracking, age verification, and to avoid giving youtube veiws) ok i couldnt find part two to that so id use this and this with this articulation guide note if you use the fishing rod method instead of the umbrella method id recommend getting your hands on bamboo finishing rods or plastic cable rods instead of fiberglass ones so you can cut into it safely and easily to use the articulation method and make your wings articulated as well as lighter then the umbrella method and they have that bending quality that looks more realistic lastly feathers are usually silky and shiner then foam so you should use a shiny coating on the foam after painting them to get the right look and remember you want your feathers to look right for your size so using like normal craft store feathers would be too small because your wings would be bigger then the other birds super thin eva or foam, or polycell packing foam, or buying massive feathers in bulk off places like etsy or specialized craft or feather stores online is your best bet
back bending animal legs (faun but they can be altered. twisted goes over all the options for these back bending legs and where to find those tutorials in the beginning of twisteds tutorial. and use freetube instead of youtube) Big fluffy tail tutorial can be altered to make it not so big hyper Mobil tail tutorial yarn tail tutorial demon could be altered to make little lizard tail and a fish tail sleeping bag pattern that can be altered to fit walruses, seals, sharks, etc
If I think of anything else I’ll find it and add it, remember im constantly updating these so check the reblogs of my posts or my pinned post to make sure you have the most up to date version

Phew. This one took, uh… a bit longer than expected due to other projects both irl and art-wise, but it’s finally here. The long-awaited domestic animal infographic! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough space to cover every single domestic animal (I’m so sorry, reindeer and koi, my beloveds) but I tried to include as many of the “major ones” as possible.
I made this chart in response to a lot of the misunderstandings I hear concerning domestic animals, so I hope it’s helpful!
Further information I didn’t have any room to add or expand on:
I would argue that axolotls are also bred for companionship, given the SHEER SEROTOTIN of seeing one on video, let alone in your HOUSE
I would also argue that turkeys were bred as a fUCKING PUBLIC MENACE and nightmare fuel for small children (speaking from personal experience here)
and that whoever keeps a goose "for companionship" needs to see a therapist
here's something stupid: the catcatfish
some quick facts:
they're nocturnal and tend to roam around while awake.
they have keen senses of smell and hearing, but terrible eyesight. despite this, they also have a tapetum lucidum, making their pupils "glow" in the dark.
their fur is short, dense, and oily to waterproof them.
they prefer a diet of mostly meat and are attracted to strong-smelling food like fish, cheese, and anything fermented.
the elongated dewclaw on each front paw is sharp, flexible, and nonretractable. it injects a venom that causes respiratory failure and cardiac arrest in prey and, in extreme doses, humans. veterenarians typically remove the dewclaw venom glands during the neuter/spay procedure.
they grow to an average of 1m and 23kg (3ft and 50lb) but can reach up to double that length and triple the weight!
